Hermione, good point regarding the cutlery. Same with the crockery.

I have been to a friend's house today and it was so cluttered, but she is happy with how it is. And it's got character and charm. Big learning curve on what's joyful to others!

MightilyOats · 30/04/2015 09:58

Well I've finally lost the plot... Mil very kindly sorted some washing out for me this morning, but she balled my socks and I had to go and quickly release them as they were screaming in distress Shock I even apologised to them Grin

Iqueen · 30/04/2015 10:22

MightilyOats I hope you thanked MIL (through gritted teeth) for her help! Grin

I am rummaging in the kitchen today. I got rid of a lot. Couple of photos to show off Wink

Can anyone help me? There was a detailed list of what order to get rid of things that someone posted on one of the earlier threads, but I can't find it or remember which thread. It was a linky thing to a couple of pages, very very detailed. I've semi-Kondoed everywhere once and need to do it a second time in a much more ruthless manner!

MightilyOats · 01/05/2015 00:22

Was it this one? jershaanddup.com/konmari-checklist-free-printable/

Wow! That looks lovely! Cake

Just a thought. A lot of height storage is available above the rolls. Could you find something narrow (eg laptop box, on its narrow edge) to store the rolls in? This would free up more cupboard 'floor' space, if you need it. Or one of those plastic/metal shelf racks to stand over the rolls? Smile

Still looks a damned sight better than my cupbboards/shelves - not yet got to the kitchen, for a proper kondo! Hmm

Iqueen · 01/05/2015 09:43

prettymess Magazine file, horizontally, on the narrow edge? My rolls are in one of those. I've also seen a similar product fixed to the inside of a broom cupboard door, so rolls stand up (like carrots in the fridge! Grin ).

I have decided something. You know how in most clalsses there is a class clown who jokes around as a cover up for the fact that they can't do the work? Well Blush In this MN Kondo class - I think it's me!

Rummikub · 01/05/2015 14:20

I can't do the work in this class either, but I hide!

JKSLtd · 01/05/2015 20:00

I'm not a high flyer in this class either!

Did finally recycle ds1's volcano from a few years ago along with dds piñata from a few weeks ago. Big heaps of cardboard gone.

RL still v busy but dh should go back to working away during the week soon so then life may return to normal.

Brown76 · 01/05/2015 20:18

Hello! First post, and new to this thread! I read the book about two weeks ago, and have been working on the clothes category. I think I have finished, I got absolutely everything including all the clothes in the loft - and after three sessions working on it managed to clear out about 60% of it (mine and DS's).

I feel like I have a much nicer choice of clothes now - my good dresses are in the wardrobe and will probably wear them more, and everything that doesn't fit has been donated. But there is still more than fits the space and not everything 'sparks joy' but I quite like what I have left and I will wear it. Should I live with it for a couple of weeks and then re-edit?

Iqueen · 01/05/2015 20:33

Welcome out of hiding, Rummikub!

I've spent the day creating business templates and kondoing executing correspondence, which has been (and still is) interrupting my kondoing! Ugh!
But, I must admit I've done a bit of hiding, too.

A Konvert on another thread spent 9 hours on her first stint and went through like a whirlwind, which has really stoked up my motivation! So, I'm planning to follow her example this weekend and see how much I can get through. I've got an appointment in town next week, so I should be able to make some serious drop-offs. Smile

Keep it up, ladies!

Brown76 · 01/05/2015 20:37

Oh and I wanted to share this link, an interview with MK about her new book and a few tips: nymag.com/thecut/2015/04/highlights-of-marie-kondos-talk-last-night.html

Rummikub · 01/05/2015 21:15

Thank you iqueen

Bank holiday does seem like a good time to get stuck in. I've got a huge pile of clothes for charity in the spare room. It feels like a huge job to take it. So I think I'll just have to take one carrier bag full at a time.
Has anyone done the clothes by weight thing? Is it worth it?

defk0ndo · 01/05/2015 22:17

Hiya

Just saying hi. Been pretty busy with other stuff, no kondoing. Got loads of stuff cluttering up garage and house - need to get rid. It is annoying.

Still freaked out by paperwork...

Hv managed to kondo a few bank accounts etc tho. That was good work.

Cannot believe Liz is on the thread - wow! One just can't get the staff, eh ma'am? Or is kondoing just so much fun it can't be delegated ? ;-)

grenedeer · 01/05/2015 22:48

Thanks, Mightily & Rummikub. My printer is whirring as we speak & my children are looking forward to joining in tomorrow, honest.

prettymess · 02/05/2015 08:40

Great suggestions thanks!

Welcome to new KMers!

I have the next four days off so going for the last big push to get it done.

Iqueen · 02/05/2015 11:31

Rummikub I've got a huge pile of clothes for charity in the spare room. It feels like a huge job to take it.

I know the feeling - ditto. I rarely go into town (chazzers, dump etc), but I hope I get time to make some drop-offs on Tuesday... otherwise, I shall get frustrated, and just take it into the garden and sling a match on it! Shock

defk0ndo We lev it on MN! It is so charming to know thet ordinary people hev the same problems ez we! We hev 775 rooms in Back Hise to 'kondo' (is thet the word?) end it gives ass a headache trying to make decisions. We do hev a few rather lavly bits, bat people are constantly giving us gifts, which we cennot refuse. (We hev at least 10,000 tea towels, whatever they are!) Then, there is the Mews of gerages, end Phil's men-shed - we dread to think what mate be in thar! Grin

Iqueen · 02/05/2015 11:41

Addendum:

We do apologise, we should hev mentioned thet we are SO excaited thet we are becoming a Great Grendmather again today! (We do not lake using the royal 'we' end 'Grandmather' in the same sentence - it reminds ass of thet woman... what was her name... Hmm Thet is it... Thetcher! Blush

Iqueen · 02/05/2015 12:02

We hev a Great Grend-daughter! 8lbs 3 ozs

Rummikub · 02/05/2015 12:05

Congratulations maj Grin

Round here we do get charity bags through the door. But there are none charity vans that come and take the full bags before the official charity collectors Shock
One time they took 5 bin bags I'd put out for age concern!

NotCitrus · 02/05/2015 12:59

OK, time to finish labelling up filing cabinet and list more stuff on Freecycle ('carrier bag of food' or random toiletries gets loads of requests round here).
Emmaus are supposed to come and collect a dishwasher and lamps this week but haven't come yet.

Congratulations iQueen! :-)

JKSLtd · 02/05/2015 19:19

Filled a recycling bag of 'artwork' and a binbag of assorted bits from the arts and crafts heap. Still too much but at least some kind of progress.
