I have been up for six hours with grumpy dd! Trying to motivate myself for a 20/10

andsmile · 11/02/2015 10:38

Hello I hope it's ok to join. I'm in panic mode. Yet again I have let house slide its a real tip. I have people comming on Saturday. I will be cooking too. I saw this thread last week and read links. What I like about Unfuck is how it relates it to mental health. In the past I have often said the house is like a barmometer of my MH. I have been a bit iffy this past few weeks.

I have done FLY in the past which is ok but I like the simple 20/10 approach. So I have a modest 3 bedroom house to sort out between now and Saturday morning. Do you think I can do it? I feel such a wuss I used to be able to whip my house in to shape in one day. Now since having DD (3) as well as older DS it seems like that awfule mountain/can't see where to start.

So as of this post Im going for my first 20 minutes in DD's bedroom.

andsmile · 11/02/2015 11:31

30 mins done - hung all of DD's clothes in wardrobe. Tidies out her chest of drawers. Got a bag of things for charity.

When I go back:

Change bedding
Tidy toy storage

afreshstartplease · 11/02/2015 11:33

Well done!

I unloaded the Washer into the drier, the dryer onto the floor and put more washing in the Washer

Now to fold and put away dry things

andsmile · 11/02/2015 12:02

Thanks off I go again Grin

cikecaka · 11/02/2015 12:07

We'll done ANDSmile, and a fresh start!
My sitting room is done!
Hung up a wash

Next 20/10
Put in a wash
Put on lunch for DH
Load Dishwasher

andsmile · 11/02/2015 12:39

I have DS off poorly. He was sick several times but is well enough to be cheeky now. So I have enlisted his help Hmm.

afreshstartplease · 11/02/2015 12:45

Done

More dry washing folded to be put away
Another wash load on
Mirrors cleaned
Bathroom sink cleaned
Bathroom mopped

andsmile · 11/02/2015 13:13

Have tidied a small sideboard
Whisked round kitchen tops and tidied up
Put dishwasher on.
Re-washing some laundry - think I might have to do the vinegar thing Hmm

Watching other half of broadchurch now. Then I'll go again.

andsmile · 11/02/2015 13:14

Just noted 30 minutes seem to work for me Smile

flashyballs · 11/02/2015 13:24

Please don't be jel, I have 6 peoples clothes to get dry Grin, no work now for over a week so I'll be back on properly tomorrow, hopefully dd2 will sleep in her cot and not me.

afreshstartplease · 11/02/2015 13:40

Done

Chucked toilet cleaner down the loo
Hung up not currently used coats in bedrooms
Took out recycling

comeagainforbigfudge · 11/02/2015 13:59

I'm still jealous dreams of fluffy soft warm towels Grin

I've been my swim, to asda, fabric store and a trip into city centre to get new gas cylinder for soda stream (because asda didn't have any)

Pooped now and still have cleaning to do. A wee hours break then will make a start.

andsmile · 11/02/2015 14:44

ok done two more bursts

porch cleared of excess shoes and coats
put more stuff on charity pile
hung wash
put wash in
picked up all the things that have fallen off overflowing dining table

coffee now.

comeagainforbigfudge · 11/02/2015 17:21

Done:
Go for swim
Go to asda for mini shop
Go to fabric shop
Clean kitchen and bathroom
Sort laundry
20/10 - living room

Still need to do another 20/10 but feeling very tired now. Hmm will see how I feel and maybe do one before bed

Also only managed to swim 8 lengths at pool. With long rests in between. So unfit! And baby is making me feel even more unfit! Never mind. At least I went and can improve from now on someone reassure me this is okay

RaspberryBlonde · 11/02/2015 19:05

Eight lengths is definitely a good start comeagain and you can swim right up until baby arrives barring any other issues so really good for dealing with that unfit feeling. I did get a few funny looks at 41 weeks.

Nothing done from me but DH has been a star and cleaned bathroom and cleared all the reachable gutters outside.

Hope you are managing to get some things dry flashy', have heard good things about heated airers if you have space?

comeagainforbigfudge · 11/02/2015 19:54

Thanks Raspberry I felt like a rubbish swimming failure because there was a woman doing about 10 lengths to my 1 (massive exaggeration obvs)

But need to start somewhere I suppose Smile

RaspberryBlonde · 11/02/2015 22:22

Definitely! There's always someone faster especially when you're pregnant.

I must try to start swimming again but our local pool seems to have lessons on most of the times I could go. Baby swimming is the closest I get these days!

andsmile · 12/02/2015 11:06

Ok can't believe its gone 11am. I'm limbering up to get started on 20/10's.

Think I'm going to tackle our bedroom first. Lots of clothes to fold.

andsmile · 12/02/2015 13:51

Just done an hour in bedroom...after sitting on here too long.

Summer/Winter shoes and boots stored neatly
Coats hung
Two large bags of charity shop removed.
Top of chest of drawers cleared

I now have a large pile on the bed to be sorted.

It always looks worse before it gets better right? I look at clothes in laundry and on driers and just feel a bit defeated Hmm Sad

School run soon too! Havnt neven touched DS room or the rest of dining area. Sad Shock Sad

But tryin to be postie Im further on than what I was two days ago - it all come good before visitors. I swear I've lost my housekeeping/organisor capabilities somewhere - maybe lef them on maternity ward lol

flashyballs · 12/02/2015 18:36

Well today I've hardly done anything. Collected my lottery winnings £115, so gone on new shoes for the kids. Tumble dryer can wait.

I've polished and dusted. hoovered upstairs and downstairs. I hate the fact it never looks like I've done anything Sad

RaspberryBlonde · 13/02/2015 07:06

flashy, that is the main reason I am terrible at housework - because I get so fed up with the fact that it will be as bad again in a minutes days.

Day off today so a reasonable list:

  • put away clean laundry
  • do another load of dirty washing
  • sort out DD's wardrobe and remove outgrown clothes. I really need to get them packed into storage bags but she unpacks quicker than I pack so will have to wait until DH is around
  • pop to supermarket
  • pay window cleaner

May also try to fit in a 20:10 in nap time.

comeagainforbigfudge · 13/02/2015 09:13

Oft I agree. It's so annoying. I swear there is an elf in this house that undo's all my hard work (otherwise known as OH)

Anyway felt rubbish yesterday, think it was start of a cold. Feel equally rubbish today but going to try do some work.

Minimal plan of:
Tidy kitchen/living room
20/10's in spare Tardis -like room. Determined that I will finish what I'm able to do ASAP. Dragging on to long now!

And lots of water drinking, maybe some baby tea! And lots of poor me moments til I feel better Wink

andsmile · 13/02/2015 09:40

Yesterday ended up as a very bad day for me MH wise. I've got up in better spirits today. Apologise for the multiple posts. I want to see what I've done/affirmations.

So I've done:

School/nursery run (I have two kids)
Put dishwasher on
Rubbish out
Put laundry on
Put tesco delivery away

I have DD party to tomorrow so last bits to buy and wrap presents.
I have guests comming tomorrow night for - I'm cooking steak dinner so need house 'guest ready'.

I'm really need to get out buy a new Hoover, do everywhere, shampoo clean lounge carpet and drop off stuff to charity shop.
