I am now in day 3 of kondoing clothes. I have spent the last 3 hours attacking our mammoth ironing pile. I chucked out several stained and horrid tops so that was good. I have now sorted the utility room, coats by the door and the children's rooms. Last bit of 'clothes' is the airing cupboard as I have the kids uniforms in there which are in desperate need of thinning out. I also need to pair up sheets with duvets - great tip I got here on MN is to store duvet covers and pillows inside one of the matching pillow slips.

I'm so incredibly inspired by this thread - look at the time, and I'm googling pictures of wardrobes! But I desperately need Kondo in my life. And it's perfect timing too. I start with clothes tomorrow.

Violetta999 · 31/12/2014 06:35

It really does make a huge difference to my house and how I feel. However I am struggling to get DH moving and he's makes a meal of every task. We are polar opposites, I'm a multitasking whirlwind and he's a thorough single task plodder.

Pointlessfan · 31/12/2014 07:06

I can't believe how fast this thread is moving!
Congratulations for making it onto Google images!!Grin

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 31/12/2014 07:53

Violetta, I know what you mean about single task plodder. I am married to one too!

that said, he let me kondo his pants and socks last night. and I secretly kondo'd his t-shirts, he just hasn't opened the drawer yet... the problem with doing it for someone is that nothing gets thrown away...

That said, he did spend about an hour last night cleaning up the Sky+ planner and deleting about half of it with a wry "your crazy japansese folding thing is catching..."

themummyonthebus · 31/12/2014 08:17

Rajpoot Isleornsay. Or, without autocorrect Angry; really inspiring! Grin All your photos (love the drawers drawer - where do you get all you lovely knickers from inadaydream?) And Whistle, your paperwork cupboard! Oh my, that's just a pipe dream for me. Things have ground to all halt here with the visitors. But they aren't squeezed into a guest room that has precarious piles of stuff all around. So even though we've only scratched the surface where MK is concerned it's already making a big difference. Plus I'm getting loads of ideas for when we can start again.in the new year.

And no thanks to all those for reminding me I have to do my computer files. DH has migrated my last few computers by basically dumping everything from them on to the server Blush He's been nagging me for years to go through it all BlushBlush

pullthecracker · 31/12/2014 08:30

I started with my clothes yesterday, five bin bags later, I can finally see what clothes I own!

Violetta999 · 31/12/2014 09:10

Teenage - DH really needs to commit an hour a day to sorting. But I guesstimate it might take a year for DH to work through his study/garage/paperwork that way. Grrrr!! I'm due to finish all the rest of the house (including kids stuff, kitchen etc) by the end of January.

Violetta999 · 31/12/2014 09:11

Need to kondo our pants too BlushGrin

CoolCadbury · 31/12/2014 09:17

inadaydream yikes! my drawer is in google images too as are the cats! Grin. Anyone know who/how it's done?

Tw1nkle · 31/12/2014 09:27

Just found you!

I downloaded the book two days ago, and I can't wait to get started!!!

I'll be staying away for DH's and DD's things - but how many of you have noticed your new methods rubbing off on family members?

OnMyWhistle · 31/12/2014 09:32

Christmas decs are down and kondoed :)

Where do you all keep things by the front door? Keys, phones etc. Hanging hooks? A little box? We only have a narrow shelf and it is definitely a clutter magnet!

OnMyWhistle · 31/12/2014 09:34

Tw1nkle yesterday when I was sorting and folding clothes DP put the wardrobe door back on the wardrobe that I have been waiting for him to do for about 6 months! It's definitely catching.

RingsOnMyFingers · 31/12/2014 09:50

Done my worst "bits and pieces cupboard so before and after aren't amazing but two carrier bags of bags/clothes in bin (not good enough for anything else God knows why I kept them!) and one bag for charity shop.

I feel slightly in adequate. By the time I wake up (week off work) you've all be kondoing for 2-3 hours ! I can't compete !

I'm kondoing the freezer. There are dozens of fish fingers in there. I know what we're having for lunch now !

RingsOnMyFingers · 31/12/2014 09:55

And rolled one drawer and regular folded second - they're very shallow so could get proper folding to work Confused

I didn't get any time to read any of the book yesterday Sad

Just wanted to say the kid's have kept their drawers tidy and have worn tops I haven't seen them wear for ages, as they can now see all of them.
They were laughing again last night calling me crazy mummy as I put some nicely folded clean clothes away, but when i asked if they wanted me to put it all back as it was they both yelled NO! straight away, haha

I think I'm starting to falter a bit now though with being back at work, hopefully reading the book will keep me motivated

RingsOnMyFingers · 31/12/2014 09:56

Oh for goodness sake - pics upside down but you get gist -Smile

lilttlemarvel · 31/12/2014 09:56

I managed to get past my overwhelmed paperwork/computer file block yesterday and clear the decks. Determined to keep it looking completely clutter free and deal with new paperwork straight away as I chip away at all the stuff behind closed doors and drawers...Bit of a major triumph as it has been holding me back for months now - I just couldn't get going with it! :)

I wish I could Kondo family obligations...;)
