Well here is my top drawer as promised, sorted, all brings me joy (or too practical to throw) and I can't believe how much space I now have! This lot originally took up 2 drawers and I often had to root around to find anything messing it up again. Now I can see very clearly what's what.

Love it!!!!

Pjs and vests next then workout wear then wardrobes.

Feel like I am getting somewhere now.

Omg rings that's amazing well done!

Ringinglikebells · 30/12/2014 14:15

I stalled for the last two days, fmily visiting etc., but it was good not to have to rush and clear up, actually spent time relaxing before they arrived!

I have done the cupboards in the playroom - lining up the game is genius, everything was falling out and wouldn't stack, now there is loads of room. My tea towel drawer still brings me joy!

In a day - I love that, my pjs look similar.

Pants, I fold the sides in, make a rectangle and fold and fold, they do need to be squashed in to stay, so I use the socks, which works well for me. Rolling may be easier.

Ironing today, keeping that pile down and it means I can watch catch up TV. Dd is happy playing minecraft, she hasn't had much time to play with her Christmas stuff with all e comings and goings.

Impressed with those on paperwork, I can't face it yet.

Tea towels and games photos attached.

Inadaydream, your drawers are amazing, so to speak and great news about the pills.
We have tackled the loft today. It hasn't taken long. Took 7 bags to charity shop and 4 to tip. Found lots of photos, cards etc that we have put in a box to sort properly and we have put a few things on Freecycle. Only things left in loft are baby things that we are saving for any future dcs and suitcases. It's amazing! Spare room is a mess now but will be ok once we've sorted photos etc and recycled loads of paper, can't do it yet our recycling bin is full!

JKSLtd · 30/12/2014 16:49

My book has arrived - no chance to look at it properly yet but can't wait to get started :)

Hubb · 30/12/2014 16:59

Wow I have just caught up, everyone has been soooo busy!

Photos look amazing :)

Someone asked about the term "Chazza"... I don't know which region it's from as I only started using it after hearing it on here..

House is massive mess, since we have all been ill just haven't been able to get back on top of it. And washing is never ending. Got a mountain to put away and a mountain to wash...so not many clothes in drawers at the mo.

Really struggling on ebaying stuff.....I know it's not in the spirit of Konmarie but I absolutely am not giving everything to the Chazza, as have a pile of things that could make a few hundred at least.. I just can't be bothered to do it! Went into town yesterday and didn't buy anything but saw some things I really do want so am telling myself if I ebay the stuff then the money will go towards the new purchases!

Need some new tops as well since clearing everything. Never seem to have the right stuff, I just want long sleeve, not too low cut and not to short tops in a non boring design. Got to be really careful about what I buy though after all this hard work!

Bizkit · 30/12/2014 18:33

Got the book, popped into the library not expecting them to have it but they did!
easily pleased me Grin
can't wait to get reading

Violetta999 · 30/12/2014 18:42

Well done everyone. Not much free time today sadly but managed to kondo a car full of crap to the dump and pass on any of DS's small socks. DH did some DIY bits but very slowly.

CeeloWeevil · 30/12/2014 19:35

I've kondoed my tops today, which wasn't an onerous job as i'm fairly anal about throwing stuff out regularly anyway!
I kind of get MK's idea of 'thanking' your clothes; as I was re-folding my tops I was fondly remembering a time when I wore each item, which in turn made me fold them extra carefully.

I have also Kondoed a kitchen cupboard and put up hooks in said cupboard for my joyous-but-untidy set of sieves!

PolkadotRosa · 30/12/2014 19:39

Have been quietly Kondoing and checking in for motivation from you all from time to time. It really has made such a difference to me, our home & family. Tough at times, dealing with all sorts of memories and wasted money, but really easy in other ways, like using the 'joy' question and the thought of passing on joy to someone else to motivate me to get rid of stuff.
Mind (my chosen charity shop) emailed me to say my donated goods had raised £170! Kondo-power!Smile

APlaceOnTheCouch · 30/12/2014 19:44

Ohhelp I thought that about the games too but I think the trick is to line them up in a larger box or bookcase shelf or between larger items so they don't have space to fall open. DS' games are now in his bookcase vertically and nothing has fallen out so far. Admittedly he also hasn't played with any of them since I did it Grin

PonderousTortoise · 30/12/2014 21:04

Way up thread someone mentioned new chopping boards - which gives me the opportunity to mention these - we've had ours (different brand but similar) for 4yrs I think and they still bring me a lot of joy! So much better than any wood or plastic ones I've had in the past. Plus really thin so good for sliding away somewhere vertically Konmari style!

I have done tops today. Cleared drawer, got about 12 nicely folded to go to charity shop, AND bought two new ones as I'd only left myself with three.

Now to get on with the significantly less fun task of ordinary tidying and cleaning of the post-dinner kitchen...

MILLYmo0se · 30/12/2014 21:17

Oh I like that board ponderous ! esp the non-slip element , DP drives me dolally by putting teatowels under chopping boards, towels obviously gets covered in bits of food and he leaves it like that ...gggrrrrr !

didireallysaythat · 30/12/2014 21:18

Got agreement to pass on 12 jigsaw puzzles today so another two boxes in the hallway for charity. DH cross that I insisted we tidy before moving onto the next job, but then acknowledged it was a good idea as he could put together furniture in the room rather than having to do it in the (cold) garage. So two new kitchen cupboards to fill now (flat pack cupboard arrived today) and I'm determined only to put joy in there.

OnMyWhistle · 30/12/2014 21:42

Polka I love those emails that tell you how much your old stuff has raised - I get them from Sue Ryder charity shop too.

Made good progress today - I am particularly pleased with this cupboard! These folders contain all the paperwork and documents in my house (that are not childminding related). That is good right?!

JKSLtd · 30/12/2014 21:51

Great paperwork cupboard!!

I want to find a local charity shop that emails, just so I can get the emails!

(busy kond-ing the Quality Street Xmas Grin)

didireallysaythat · 30/12/2014 22:08

on my whistle - I want a cupboard like yours ! I think I may still be 6 months away from it somehow...

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 30/12/2014 22:18

Been up to my eyeballs in uni assignments this week so haven't been able to get stuck in but did a couple of shelves in the kitchen and gave the cupboard under the sink a quick kondo whilst I was cooking dinner. Also did the fridge and freezer (but that was mostly to stop me eating so much left over Christmas food!

TimeGoesBy · 30/12/2014 22:20

Wow ohmywhistle,serious respect!
Have just Kondoed dd's sock drawer.. Using boxes inside the drawer is pure genius. Tis truly a thing of beauty now. Want to go and look at it again but would wake her and then might not get to finishing kondoing bottle of wine Grin

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 30/12/2014 22:36

ohmywhistle love the cupboard! I've been doing paperwork today again. I feel a bit bad that I am having to re-do categories, like I'm not following well enough!
Hoping to get a huge load of stuff off to charity shop tomorrow, I've lost all will to eBay stuff now and just want rid before New Year if possible.

Also finally put up thermal curtain liners, it's made such a difference! Kondo-ing paint by doing up bathroom and retouching kitchen.

Omg my pant drawer and top drawer are on 'Marie kondo folding' images on Google Blush the other images on this thread are also there! Not posted pics on MN before so must really remember so as to not completely make a plonker of myself in future by posting pics of things identifiable!! Thankfully only DH knows my underwear and doubt he will ever Google folding methods or images!! And yes I am still researching online for folding & storage ideas, I think I am becoming addicted Grin

Ringinglikebells · 30/12/2014 23:01

ohhelponista. I just put the boxes on end,the lids are pretty secure, but they are so closely packed beside each other they couldn't come off!

The great thin is they take up,half the space.

All this talk of chocolates....I need to go and sort some out!

ninawish · 30/12/2014 23:44

marking place Grin

bought the book and kondoed my wardrobe. Amazing so far!
