Also loving the cats! And the new thread. cluttering it up marking my place.

AdventuringAbout · 23/12/2014 20:29

Extra evidence that once an area/category is done, it stays done: my DD's clothes, after one month...

Very impressive Adventuring, my kids are still using the 'floordrobe' method.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 23/12/2014 20:36

Yes, very impressive!

AdventuringAbout · 23/12/2014 20:49

Well, she's still young enough to enjoy tidying up, so I'm encouraging it while it lasts Grin

JKSLtd · 23/12/2014 21:28

Liking the new shiny thread - mostly marking to keep place for Jan.

Loving the cat photo - are they yours?
I have 2 and they love boxes, though normally one attacks the other!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 23/12/2014 21:40

Woohoo! I've just spent an hour and a half making a start with DS' clothes. He is 6 and now converted to KonMari Grin he was so pleased with his tidy new wardrobe he woke his DDad to tell him about it.

He also confessed he was always worried that the piles of clothes would fall on him when he opened the wardrobe door Blush

I tried to take before and after pics but my phone was obviously so appalled at the mess that it didn't take the before pic. I'll post the after one if I work out how.

APlaceInTheWinter · 23/12/2014 21:52

Voila! Prior to tidying, I had a collection of 6 storage boxes full of clothes balanced haphazardly and reaching almost to the top of the photo Blush

This is crazy, but the one thing that makes me smile is the fact that the four resusble bags i had by my fridge have stayed folded in a take away box for a month. I could never get them to stay folded before and now thanks to a simpke box they are always tidy. If I had not come on the first thread i would never have known. In the grand scheme of things it is miniscule, but it makes me happy. I think that as many of us have said we can pick up tips from the book even if we don't have much clutter, so thank you for starting the first thread. My towel and bed linen drawers were always in neat piles , now they are rolled and i can see what i have. Happy Christmas everyone.

Pointlessfan · 23/12/2014 22:13

I am really enjoying thinking about how to use boxes to organise cupboards and drawers. It's almost like my house is a giant jigsaw puzzle! I keep looking at my Xmas pressies and hoping some of them are in useful boxes! I know, I need to get out more Blush

ItIsntJustAPhase · 23/12/2014 22:18

I am particularly loving the fact that I always save shoeboxes for no reason and now I have a reason.

writingbeagle · 23/12/2014 22:30

Handbags done. As a bi-product, I've also started shoes and cleared out both wardrobes.

Definitely have a problem though. I've got almost all of my stuff in spare room as there are no drawers at all in our bedroom. But the built in cupboard in that room is tiny, the hanging rail is about a foot wide. So I've put jeans in there but had to leave work clothes (dresses, smart tops that can't be folded, suits) in our bedroom. Think this is workable, at least I can see what I've got now.

Going to make a start on both DC tomorrow, just so there is some space in their rooms for presents!

Love the cats Briar!

Lovely new thread, but oh dear, my Kondoeing is on hold with Christmas prep.

I did several loads of washing yesterday and although all ironed, needs to be put away, which has made me realise I still, have far too much stuff and I am impatient to sort it, however, Christmas calls. It will be put away nicely folded though!

Loving the idea of board games on end - genius - where did that come from, have it missed it in the book?

Keep going everyone, it really in some weird way works on the mind, I got a pair of pyjamas out yesterday, wore them last night and realised this morning that they do actually annoy me as the top always feels too short, in the past I would have just kept them, but now they are out - they don't bring me joy and are in the bin.

Have a great Christmas everyone, may it be full of useful boxes and consumables Xmas Smile

stilllearnin · 24/12/2014 09:46

thank you for the new thread - only sly kondoing over christmas but will be back with gusto around the 27th.

JKSLtd · 24/12/2014 10:17

Well done NeverFreeze!

Annoyingly ds2's has a 25th chocolate in - against the rules surely?!

But I may 'move the others out of the way'later.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 24/12/2014 11:40

The cats are unfortunately or fortunately (so many!) not mine, I just thought of this thread when I saw that pic since I'm obsessed with Kondoing now

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Smile

discovered this thread yesterday and been gradually reading through the previous ones.

I am so fed up with the clutter in my house and am always trying to find solutions

unfortunately some of it is the ex partners clutter and we are still living together so I can't do much at the moment but I'm hoping he will be gone by the end of January and there will be some serious De cluttering and rearrangement after that! Fresh start and all that! so this thread will be helpful to me

I am going to make some small changes where I can

I done my sock/underwear draw last night, just folding the socks a different way has made such a difference, couldn't resist and done one of my tshirt/top draws and got rid of a load of stuff.

Have done my DD and DS's socks and underwear this morning aswell and have nearly a full bag of clothes to recycle already.

Their draws now have more space and look very neat, not sure if this will last though, plus they both think I've got a bit mad Hmm

I think I will just carry on with the clothes as that's my most annoying thing, they are everywhere! and then maybe move on to books etc in the new year

Any tips on folding trousers, jeans, cardigans etc
have only watched clips on socks, tshirts and long sleeved tops Wink
