Anybody want to join me in a mega, whole house declutter?

I am desperate to have a clean and tidy home. It's always ruined my life and I always feel very lonely, partly because I can never have anybody over without a week or so notice to clean up! I am fed up of being like this and want to make a change for good. I know that the biggest step is to declutter, as it will make it so much easier to keep tidy.

I have delcuttered lots of times before, and I then end up filling it up again! I don't want to do this again! I want this to be the last time!!

Anybody up for joining me?

I have already done my girls room (They share a small double and it was always so full that they couldn't ever have space to play in it!). It is so much easier now, I finished it about a week ago but have actually kept it tidy!

I am now moving onto my Son's room. It's a TEENY box room with just a cotbed and one chest of drawers in, no spare space and I have an extra baby to fit in their soon as we are expecting again. Baby will sleep in our room for as long as possible but no idea where the baby's clothes etc will go! So iv culled his clothes and now have 2 spare drawers, and got an under bed drawer now which I can use although not really space to pull it out!

Anyway, would anybody like to join me in my mission? We could support each other and keep each other going? I have also strarted looking into flylady and hope to use some bits from there, but not follow it fully as I like to do my own thing a bit.

of course all crazed declutterers very very welcome here to inspire each other
Grin
took me about 8 weeks of summoning strength to do the ruddy under sink cupboard, it already looks crap again but if I don't keep the bucket under there dh steals and uses nefariously in the garage then I don't have one to mop floors indoors gah.

also - saucepans. dare I give the ruddy never used thoughtful gift of the egg poaching pan and all of its glass inner parts stupid fecking thing kindly given to dh by my own traitorous caring mother??!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 20/07/2014 21:49

to quote Frozen

Let It Gooooooooooooooooooooooo

JKSLtd · 20/07/2014 23:11

Pmsl. Let it go. Turn away and slam the door. Poached eggs never bothered me anyway GrinGrin

Tidied lots of toys. Cleared out (for sch Christmas fair) mcd toys &, bizarrely, fire engines. We had way too many!!
Rearranged and put away lotsof toys. Playroom now looking good - will it stay that way??

Also got on top of various bits and pieces so feeling positive. Smile

Lots of areas still left to tackle.

Thank you. So lovely to have somewhere to vent and motivate each other. :)

I bought a really good shelf kit for the cupboard under the sink - that has made a huge difference it fits around all the pipework and helps you to make the most of the space. After 3 weeks it's still looking beautiful (which I have never managed before! )

meisiemee · 21/07/2014 06:52

Oh god the bug has got me, woke up early this morning so started on the little cupboards in the lounge!!!!!

shitatusernames · 21/07/2014 07:20

No tidying for me yet, sports day for ds2 this morning, 3 fecking hours, so will try and crack on this arvo if baby will let me, I need to get a sling.

And good morning all Brew

JKSLtd · 21/07/2014 07:54

Morning & definitely get a sling. See if you've got a sling library near you?

Hoping two DC will go to holiday club at school for a few hours, ds2 still at school until tomorrow. Then I can hopefully carry on from the weekend.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 21/07/2014 08:22

both mine are broken up for hols...making mess and moving things all over the place. Grin and it's too. HOT. to tidy.

however just had to clean the hob as dh threw gravy all over it yesterday , that's good work for 0800. almost military.

JKSLtd · 21/07/2014 10:32

Well done!

Got given two huge bags of girls clothes this morning. Sigh.

shitatusernames · 21/07/2014 12:48

Back from sports day and have sorted the book shelve out, just got to get the kids books upstairs and onto their shelves, sorted the crap on top of the printer too, hopefully baby will nod of soon so I can take the books upstairs.

Mine break up wednesday Grin

JKSLtd · 21/07/2014 16:17

Sorted through handmedowns. Put box of too big clothes for each DC in the loft.
Also got down some extra shelves I needed.
More toy sorting, some babier bits ready to pass on tomorrow.
Going to try a bit more before tea as all DC busy...

ChaffinchOfDoom · 21/07/2014 18:04

whoo good work JKS
managed to get a refund today for a dress bought in June & one I'd taken tags off! luckily had receipt. had been trying to sell with no luck so am bloody thrilled they refunded it. I bought it as it was on a 14 hanger and I was rushing round with the baby. got home, delabeled it.....and put straight on. noticed it was humungous around my boobs. It was a size 20 Shock
the refund woman saw me with all the dc looking hot and weepy and took major pity I think! Grin so nice to not have it hanging in lounge.
love you asda XX

Result Chaff Grin

My next task is sorting my wardobe out, the baby will be in the room with me and hubby for a good while so I really need to sort it out.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 21/07/2014 20:01

how old is your LO shitusername ? I got a 16week old Grin boy do they get in the way of decluttering!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 21/07/2014 20:02

PMSL sorry I got your name very wrong there Blush

shitatusernames · 21/07/2014 20:40

Ha ha Chaff that's ok Grin

She is 3 weeks on Wednesday and yes they really do get in the way lol, I will persist though as I want it sorted by the time work looms in November, I'm bank domestic so not entitled to any holiday/maternity etc.

JKSLtd · 22/07/2014 18:22

Been at work now setting up pool in the garden. Kids happy with water pistols. No decluttering managed as charity shop was shut by the time I got there.

meisiemee · 22/07/2014 19:19

Oh it's never ending.... Might have to bop Dh on the nose soon as he is worse than DS, no sooner I tidy the sooner he is messing!!!!! Confused

shitatusernames · 22/07/2014 19:41

Oh meis what will we do during the holiday? Think they'll be driving me insane.

Mum is taking baby for a while tomorrow, so upstairs is being tackled, my wardrobe, and all the clothes lying around sorted ready for the cot purchase.

meisiemee · 22/07/2014 20:03

Shitatusernames, holiday club for a fair chunk of it as I will be working!

shitatusernames · 22/07/2014 21:37

Ahh ok, maternity here at the moment, back in November, so I shall be making a dent in this decluttering, it just seems sucha task at the moment, but I know how much better I'll feel once it's done.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 23/07/2014 09:44

Ive done OK but need to purchase some storage big time, and can't quite make myself go storage shopping with 3 dc in 80degree heat...

have looked on amazon but + delivery charges = rather expensive
want a toybox for baby's expanding pile of toys, and 2 under bed boxes for lego bricks and built pieces

also want a narrow but desk height table to fit 2 desk chairs for their bedroom, and keeping an eye for a little nursing chair for what will be baby's room

shitatusernames · 23/07/2014 11:14

Not doing so well this morning, mum's got baby so I've hoovered downstairs, dusted etc, just having a coffee then mopping the kitchen floor, which hasn't been done since before the new arrival Blush, but no chance to do upstairs as mum is doing lunch (egg and bacon ) baguette so I'm not turning that down lol.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 23/07/2014 15:31

JKSLtd · 23/07/2014 19:13

Friend coming for boys clothes tomorrow.
