Mad Fledglings March through the Spring cleaning

BitchytheGreat · 28/02/2014 20:40

So here we are, March already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others.

Having an early night tonight, Tuesdays are a busy afternoon and I helped make pancakes with DS's Cubs tonight.

Flying-wise - changed our bed sheets, one other load of washing, brief hoover of downstairs.

GoingGoingGoth · 04/03/2014 23:23

Just popping in, congrats on the end of blanket saga Bitchy

I would like to say I ache all over, and I will never get on a snowboard again, but skiing was ok. I did laugh every time I fell over so not too traumatising. DH & DD had a great time and DD took to it easily. I think I may go sledging next time, then retire early to the bar. Grin

I should go to bed now, but seen Pitch Black is on and I do like a bit of Riddick.

BitchytheGreat · 04/03/2014 23:31

i am currently unpicking 2hrs worth of edging work because i made an error. I am seriously considering being lazy and not bothering to edge properly but know i will regret it if I do.

Well do on the Decluttering Blueandwhite!!!!

Hello just many wise words as always. I am nominating you for the super woman badge. and you don't get to make excuses and say you don't deserve it, thank you will be fine WinkGrin

Lazy day here

Ta Da

  • Spent the morning playing Candy Crush Blush
  • Bought food for the week (after asking DH and DD for their suggestions - faggots and macaroni cheese!)
  • Bought some compost, seed potatoes and a couple of fruit bushes (now just need to get them planted plus decide on other veg seeds to grow)
  • DD to & from Brownies
  • Made tea, washed pots and shined sink - after DH made pancakes

The last couple of years, DD and I have used Lent as an opportunity to give up junk (for a short while) and we have coerced DH into joining us this year too. But today, although not having had some for ages, I bought a chocolate bar and a big bag of Bombay Mix just so I could eat them before I give them up for 6 weeks Confused!!!

BitchytheGreat · 05/03/2014 01:22

Grin Dizzy. Funny how that works isn't it.

Okay, did not get all my marking done last night so first order of business is to get that finished.

This afternoon I need to do something for me, which may or may not involved decluttering. Might enjoy some reading/writing time or wander round town or reorganise and decluter my clothes. Will save proper houseowrk for Friday and the weekend since I'll have no school work weighing me down (teachers hate marking as much as children and parents hate homework believe me).

dizzy I think banishing junk from the house is a good idea. Heaven knows my belly would thank me. I really want to tone up a bit. Hoping to be pg this year and was in good shape last time whihc I think helped me in labour and in getting back into reasonable shape (though still carrying the last 5 kilos, 2 and a half years on). Also a Bridesmaid in October and the other BM is a size 10, Bride will likely be smaller than me as well, and the dresses are sleevleess so need to sort out my upper arms if that's possible! Why did no one ask me to be a Bridesmaid before I had DS?!

goth well done on getting out on the slopes! Sounds fun as does the bar

bitchy is it finished?!

have a good trip to Blighty sc

Ta da
DS off to nursery
caught up on MN

To do
Marking
Reports
Make pizza dough for this evening
Relax!!!!!!

Okay, will not be back on here until I've finished my reports. Have a good day everyone.

PeanutPatty · 05/03/2014 09:22

Apologies but I've not caught up from Monday but I will try to later!

We have a new addition to the family. The four pawed kind. Grin We are all going to go through a period of adjustment but so far so good. He's a lovely sweet boy. Oh I should say he's a dog!

Ta Da's
DW on as wasn't put on last night
WM on
Mutts walked

To do
Ironing
Clean laundry away
Empty TD
Put high chair away into storage
Write to do list

I'm keeping my To Do's short and sweet even though I could add tons more but I need to keep it achievable. Currently feel like I'm drowning in chores and I'm ignoring the minis.

BitchytheGreat · 05/03/2014 09:22

Morning Smile

Im going to try and catch up on thread. A few seem to have big stuff going on. Im feeling a lot better in myself than Monday.

Im pleased I had a clean and tidy house - all room outside of our bedroom that is Grin. This is still like a ravaged jumble sale. I spent 5 minutes looking for clean socks for DS this am Blush.

I havnt done much flying as DD has been ill and I have now been up with her three nights in row, last night the worst. Done laundry, DW and S&W. Oh I did do mission the other day - the worktops one.

List for today

Uniform shop
Food shop
Cook a good square meal (I think shepherds pie)
Order Kindle

EustaciaVye · 05/03/2014 09:57

Morning everyone
Just gave kitchen a once over. Trying to work and sort house out. Just about managing.

Hope everyone is ok.

Going to try and get on top of laundry in a bit.

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 10:09

Peanut - how exciting to have a new dog! I hope you all enjoy the settling-in period. You will get very fit with all that walking.

dizzy - am impressed at the junk ban.

SC - hope your trip back to Blighty goes well.

Engels - hope you whizz through your marking and end up with extra 'me-time'.

Bitchy - is Blanketgate over yet?

thinking - glad you are feeling better. I find I don't get much Flying done when I'm lacking sleep too. It really slows me down the next day. Am good at looking at MN on those days though.

Ta da

Took reluctant DS2 into school (with his usual complaints of stomach aches, etc. Wish I could just take him out now, but it's not definite at the new school yet).
Nice chat with DH
Reminded DS1 that we need to work on his homework before his TA arrives at lunchtime

Aiming to catch up on some Flying today, as there is not too much else going on. We are not working today and I want a day off statement stuff, so that means I can catch up on house stuff. Have an OU tutorial at 2 and a parent interview with DS2's teacher after school. We've decided not to mention the possibility of a new school at the moment.

No sign of DS1, so need to go and chivvy him along now.

BitchytheGreat · 05/03/2014 11:09

Unfortuneately not. I have redo the 2hrs that were unpicked and carried on but there is still about 7mtrs of work to do. Hopefully will get it done tonight. I have to give up and get ready for work and the errands i have to run today because i have done nothing but internet stuff and owrk on the balnket this morning.

Finished!

Have decided thsi afternoon is all about what I want to do. So will be watching either Death Comes to Pemberley or some Doctor Who or reading some of my lovely books.

Will make pizza dough first though.

Ignoring the rest of the to do list.

Is it too early for Wine Blush

EustaciaVye · 05/03/2014 11:58

I have been watching Casualty this morning :)

GoingGoingGoth · 05/03/2014 12:04

Another one playing Candy Crush, feel rung out today, am half expected a call to say DD has fallen asleep at school.

Am trying to consume body weight in caffeine, but have manage to reboot laundry.

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 12:35

ta da

Persuaded DS1 to come downstairs and start work
Cooked him bacon to give him some energy (seemed to work)
Unloaded dishwasher
Felt something 'go' in my back Shock
Tentatively reloaded dishwasher with dirty dishes
(trying to keep back as straight as possible)
Reminded DS1 to concentrate on his work
Wiped down cooker top and surfaces
Started tackling the kitchen hotspot
Reminded DS1 to concentrate on his work again
Made Brew and ate some of the chocolate biscuits I'd bought the boys
Admired DS1's finished homework
Suggested going out for a walk (lovely Spring day) - rejected

CAMHS TA will be here shortly. Will try to finish hotspot before he gets here. Want to try out the new coffee machine.

Bitchy - I admire your patience with the blanket. I think I would have given up a long time ago.

Engels - well done on finishing the marking. Enjoy your time.

Eustacia - did you play 'Spot the person who's going to die?' We always did Wink.

Goth - sounds like you need a day of rest.

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 12:35
CallingAllEngels · 05/03/2014 12:39

Thanks toffee Grin

Okay, marking done, pizza dough made.

Now sitting back with a caramel cappuccino, piece of sainsbury's shortbread and Death Comes to Pemberley

Swanhildapirouetting · 05/03/2014 12:53

Up early
printed out John Agard poem with ds2
found Guyana in the Atlas, Discussed Brazil, Amazon and the Andes, and ds2 just happened to be watching a programme (yes, he keeps putting on the bloody telly Smile on German settlers in a remote village in Peru. This is when I wish we were home edding [sigh]

anyway then I drove ds2 to school - he was in a v good mood
combined getting petrol and groceries with driving

dd went to school first thing with her cell model (clay sadly not cake)
ds1 I hope went to school

briefly rushed around tidying kitchen for 2 friends
drank tea and chatted to friends

now I'm knackered again, and lying down, hoping to order some plants but my eyes are closing...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/03/2014 13:26

Toffee - I forgot to mention one thing I really like about our coffee machine, which is that it is easy and safe enough for the DCs to use (they aren't tall or strong enough for the kettle yet). So I have finally realised a long held dream of them being able to go and make me a drink instead of the other way round.

Thinking - my DS had to go to school with odd socks on today, we could not find a single matching pair even in the laundry basket Blush. He keeps putting his toes through them. I have just ordered another lot from M&S.

EustaciaVye · 05/03/2014 13:41

Of course I did Toffee Grin in Casualty AND Holby City :)

I have been so stressed lately. Lots of issues with the kids. Nothin majir but the volume is draining. Work is stressful. I have been carrying a lot and have been a bit overwhelmed, hence not much contributing here.

However I have spent the day watching tv, drinking tea, and doing a little bit of email. I feel much better for it....so, I guess a reminder to everyone - take a break for yourself every now and again!

CallingAllEngels · 05/03/2014 14:08

Here here eustacia !

I have 80 minutes before DH comes home and starts stomping around and I'm bloody going to enjoy it!

Which poem is he looking at swan ?

ToffeeWhirl · 05/03/2014 15:13

Ha ha, it's not just us then, Eustacia Grin. Good for you to take some time for yourself.

And you too, Engels.

WhoKnows - that is a very good point, thank you. I will mention that to DH as I'm sure he won't be averse to DC bringing him cups of coffee Grin. No matching socks here either, so I now regularly send DS2 into school in odd socks and have given up worrying about it.

Blimey, just noticed the time and I'm late for the school run! Argh!

GoingGoingGoth · 05/03/2014 15:52

On no! DD brought a school letter in, I've been World Book Dayed! On the positive side, I've until 28th March to do her costume. She just has to pick one first.

Well, I dragged myself off the sofa and done some vacuuming and am now getting psyched up for Woodcraft. Early night tonight.

thinking101 · 05/03/2014 16:47

Hi just marking place. After my wobble on Monday, then my feeling better yesterday which was 'false' as I've just crumbled, had a mild panic/anxiety which I didnt have time to dwell on as DD took a turn for worse and weve been to walk in center all PM. They nearly referred us to hospital as her temperature didnt come down. Q me ringing DH in a panic abou picking up the big one from school.

I am empty, so tired, and emotionally drained.
