Mad Fledglings March through the Spring cleaning

BitchytheGreat · 28/02/2014 20:40

So here we are, March already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others.

Finished next set of marking. Still have one set to do before I can do the reports, so looks like I will be marking tonight. I WILL get finished so I can spend tomorrow (last precious childg free day) getting my to do list done and enjoying myself!

DS home now so time for dinner.

Find fabric

print out code from scratch program ds wrote
sort out a few bits for ds' memory books
be a proper grump
start new crochet project before finishing off the 3 in progress typical crafter... HmmGrin
20mins decluttering in office
sort out some bits for donating to a nursery/playgroup
5 mins decluttering in the back bedroom
1 fucking cloak made bar fasting that i need to buy tomo
Banana cake made
vat of pancakes made and being eaten
Shouted at various people who annoyed me today.
Sworn at the fabric that moved when it shouldn't, the pins that jumped out and stabbed me on purpose
sorted out ds' kit for tomo
dried the load of washing from yesterday

Currently being tiptoed around by everyone else in the house. but they are happy with the pancakes. I otoh am trying to get the will to live to finish fixing ds' blind and do the cardboard bits of the costume. I think those bits will just have to wait until tomo. There is also the small matter of blanket gate to get finished....

Whilst i remember here are the links for Wednesday...

Wednesday is anti procrastination day - that means that job you have been putting off, yes that one. Get it done!!!

Babystep 4 feel free to ignore this one. I personally think it is more clutter rather then helpful but it might help you?

Missions

Bet you can't spend 15mins decluttering stuff. Go on. You know you want to....

Grin

Bbl for a natter and some sanity. perhaps. Maybe.

Good luck getting everything finished and hope you can get a bit of 'me' time tomorrow Engels

Bitchy That's an amazing list, keep going!!

I have just finished the kitchen reorganisation to a reasonable stage at which it can be sensibly left (yippee). Not completely done but much, much better. Now have a bit more counter space and a clear space on top of fridge and a clear space on top of recycling box stack. Amazing the positive effect one small piece of storage can have ... will do phase 2 upon return from trip.

Just about to start making pancake batter which is a bit late and possibly will be too full to eat for pudding. But banking on the fact that we won't be condemned to eternal damnation if we eat them for breakfast tomorrow morning!

sanschocolat · 04/03/2014 18:07

Thanks for links Bitchy I don't want to even contemplate my kitchen cupboard under the sink atm; never mind declutter it. That will be an entire day's job I reckon Confused.

Right, dh has just come home and declared that he is starving so that's my Flying finished for the day. I must be getting old. Don't recall cleaning out cupboards as being this knackering before.

Putting out a large case of Wine on naughty corner bar cos I reckon we all deserve it today and its the last day before Lent after all

Cheers!

BitchytheGreat · 04/03/2014 18:19

Thanks for the link Bitchy We've quite a few Nordic friends so we've heard the name before but don't know how we managed to miss the delicious 'bun' aspects of it!

Flying tip: do not attempt to make pancake batter when you've just downed 2 glasses of wine on an empty stomach [hic]. Off to try second attempt ... .

Swanhildapirouetting · 04/03/2014 20:20

my bedroom is tidied! and hoovered. Still a long way to go to sort it out so it resembles a boudoir in the long term (think four matching curtains and a set of furniture that was designed to be in the same room together (not), but at least it is now clean and tidy.

done
meatballs for supper without sauce
with peas and bulgar wheat
ds2 spellings
chat to other children
collapse
washed up

enjoy your visit to UK SC, it must seem strange visiting when you are virtually here already Grin

Whoknows hope appeal goes smoothly - not fun to deal with that and the cold, hope you survived all this evenings' activities.

Swanhildapirouetting · 04/03/2014 20:21

oh yes and we forgot the pancakes, we have them quite often, I don't why today I should have forgotten Confused

BitchytheGreat · 04/03/2014 20:22

Woohoo indeed Bitchy

Well done on tidy bedroom swan and kitchen sorting SC

Grin at WBD-related decluttering feet and others. [Note to self: locate bucket for dinosaurs...]

Sorry to hear about extra hassle with statementing etc WhoKnows

Big waves to everyone else.

Not much in the way of flying done today, but have had an entire dinner of pancakes, savoury and sweet. :) Must remember it as an option on other days in the year too...

Night all.

ToffeeWhirl · 04/03/2014 21:43

Well done on tackling your bedroom, Swan. Ours is in a sorry state too.

DS1's online lesson went ok, apart from a brief hiccup when he refused to do the worksheet because he objected to the font they'd used (Comic Sans Serif). Nothing can ever be straightforward, can it?

Had another long talk with DS2 about school. He hates every day and is counting the days till he can visit the new school.

Seem to have spent most of today on the computer, typing out forms and sending emails about DS1. DH commented that it was like a second job.

Have fallen off the wagon because DH bought another bottle of Prosecco tonight. So am now off to drink wine and watch 'The Walking Dead'. Nothing like a relaxing evening watching zombie action Grin.

sanschocolat · 04/03/2014 21:46

Congratulations Bitchy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smile Wine Wine Wine [there really should be a champagne glass emoticon available on here]]

Thanks Swan Grin despite being permanently resident on here, I am looking forward to experiencing Blighty in rl M&S knickers here I come. Dh is grumbling already, saying "well we can buy Marmite and swedes here now so what is the point?" Confused

Congrats on mahoosive boudoir overhaul!!

Ending the day on a rather irritating note; having cleaned out entire kitchen cabinet which is a bit like this but with more glass I've discovered that one of the doors won't shut properly. Funnily enough, dd's chest of drawers similar to this but in white has also just broken. Both items are only about seven years old. How long is Ikea furniture meant to last I wonder?

Blueandwhitelover · 04/03/2014 22:10

Inspired by the thread I cleared two shelves of my wardrobe, now suffering World Book Day angst. Had decided to go as Jesse with checked shirt, cowboy hat and jeans then panicked and ordered to be delivered tomorrow a Maid Marian outfit. I am a size 22!!! Who am I kidding?

JustGettingOnWithIt · 04/03/2014 22:22

Running in quickly; Who Knows; parent partnership should be able to give you that info if you want to go round the procrastinators.
Running back out for dinner and pancakes or they won't happen.

JustGettingOnWithIt · 04/03/2014 22:30

Runs back in; SC the cabinet may well have an adjustable hinge that needs adjusting, t'other possibility is if you had a lot of heavy stuff in it and it shut before you cleared it, then the frame's twisted. Put heavy stuff back where heavy stuff was, for door to shut.
Lot's of ours is between 20/25 yrs old, but I do maintain hinges etc. (and overload!) Drawers can usually be taken apart and rebuilt with glue.
Really runs out this time.
