Mad Fledglings March through the Spring cleaning

BitchytheGreat · 28/02/2014 20:40

So here we are, March already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others.

Fan stuff Toffee! Use a pen and put the . on Grin

Eustacia I remember a similar feeling after my sunroof. I did a few bits and bobs and was bedridden later that day. Glad you are feeling loads better tho.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/03/2014 20:30

I did consider that, Peanut. Do you think they'd spot it? I do have a black pen. Had better wait till I'm sober though (two glasses of wine down now).

Thank you, Bitchy. I know you also have endless paperwork to wrestle with.

ellie - lovely to see you back! You must not start to do stuff . Your uni friend sounds wonderful. Smile

ToffeeWhirl · 20/03/2014 20:32

Did you get cuddles with the baby, ellie? Envy

elliepac · 20/03/2014 20:38

I did indeed toffee Smile. He has the most amount of hair I have ever seen on a baby. Lots of squidgy cuddles were had.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/03/2014 20:49

Ellie - Ooooh, good . Hope you sniffed his head lots.

DS2 is 8 and still sleeps like a baby, curled up on his tummy

elliepac · 20/03/2014 20:56

DS always slept on all fours with his bum stuck in the air. I went into his room the other morning and there he was, at 10, still sleeping in his baby position. I nearly had a little weep wondering where my baby had done. Savour every moment Smile.

BlueEyeshadow · 20/03/2014 21:13

Was also going to say, can you add the full stop by hand, Toffee? Otherwise, whoop!

Aww! Baby cuddles! Glad you had such lovely visitors Ellie.

BitchytheGreat · 20/03/2014 21:19

Ds also used to sleep like that when he was a baby ellie these days you will find him half hanging off his bed, a mass of arms and legs.

I am busy doing tons of stuff. I have given up, admitted a night owl and have had two cups of coffee past 5pm. Plan to take a nap tomo. I might come back and post a ta da list later. Grin there is a bit of blood in the caffine stream. Not much but a bit

So tired. Trying to do the statement stuff but I'm flagging. I never seem to be able to get started till after the DCs are in bed (very busy at work at the moment and the after school routine is hectic). Unfortunately there's nowhere in this house where you can shut yourself away with a laptop and just get on with it.

BitchytheGreat · 20/03/2014 21:53

I do a lot of print and red pen/rough draft method. Means I can sit and write whilst stuck waiting for ds to finish with some activity or other.

I am starting to flag but that is only because i have lost purpose. Anyone seen my to do list?

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/03/2014 21:59

I do a bit of that (have done exactly that for my current OU assignment which is on the kitchen table and getting picked at during mealtimes), but generally work better on a computer. Got my second wind now. Will probably be a late one.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/03/2014 22:16

ellie - that is so sweet. I wonder when it ends .

Lock yourself in the bathroom, WhoKnows? (Although I know that as soon as I go into the bathroom, people start knocking at the door Confused). Don't stay up too late tonight - you'll feel rough in the morning (pot calling kettle).

"This one?"

Yes, Blue, I will have to carefully put in a black dot tomorrow morning and hope it looks like print. It offends my proofreading credentials to leave it out.

I'm in bed. That's it for the day. Knackered. Have left all the washing up (though I think I can hear the dulcet tones of DH washing it up Smile) and told DS1 to put himself to bed.

BitchytheGreat · 20/03/2014 22:24

Hahaha toffee yes that one! Thank you! Grin

Well my intentions of completely blitzing the house seemed to fly out of the windows so will continue on the morrow

Ta Da

  • Dry linen put away
  • Washing load in and hung to dry
  • Cleaned 4 x bathroom - inc. changing all towels
  • Disassembled DD's "den" so I could put bedding on the guest bed!
  • Phoned Samsung who are going to check the tablet - so fingers crossed the problem comes under the warranty
  • Emptied recycling bin
  • Went for a run/walk with DD
  • Made tea, washed pots and shined sink

I might go and do some filing as that will help tidy up the dining room!

Well done on completing the statement Toffee

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/03/2014 23:12

All done for tonight, 12 pages of A4. Need to tidy it up tomorrow, add attachments, cross reference it all, number sections, proof read etc but CBA tonight.

So ta-da!

Morning routine (including Blush accidentally shut cat in wardrobe)
Pop in to see friends two week old kittens on way home from school run. - adorable.

Work - busy
Home and pick DS up from school

Potter about, sort big pile of paperwork
Feed cats and find that one is missing BlushBlush
Cat located in wardrobe by DH, no signs of stress or using it as a toilet, but can't have been good for her bladder.

Swanhildapirouetting · 21/03/2014 00:29

Toffee hurrah!

bookclub went well, kitchen cosy and lovely. Curry delicious but my cheesecake was horrid (chocolate crust did not work at allConfused

have washed up
and next time we are reading Jim Crace Harvest..so if anyone's read it and thinks it is rubbish please tell me now and I'll change the plan..

Last time we read A M Homes something with Forgive in the title.. dysfunctional people indeed

Honu · 21/03/2014 06:50

Yesterday experimented with hanging trousers upside down - have never done this before! Waistbands took much longer to dry. Please advise advantages of this method.

To all those doing statements - incredibly wise words from Just. It's the whole need to be negative that makes the process so depressing. It's not just in the education world - social care is as bad. Whenever we have to fill in forms for DH (which is quite often!) he fills them in trying to be as positive as he can, and focusses on what he can do, whereas what we actually need is help with the things he can't do. I am then torn between trying to get him to change it (cue massive depression) or not getting what we need. And no private carer form that he is not allowed to see!

CallingAllEngels · 21/03/2014 07:07
