Mad Fledglings March through the Spring cleaning

BitchytheGreat · 28/02/2014 20:40

So here we are, March already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others.

Bitchy can't believe you still haven't seen the end of Monsters U, it's the best bit! not really

Had a good day here despite me having another allergic reaction to something, beginning to wonder if it's the wool for DD's blanket.

Most of our day was taken with a long walk with the Woodcraft group around Pollok Park, ending up at the play area. The picture is of DD holding hands with her little friend, he's 5 and she thinks he's adorable.

There's going to be a lot of tired children tonight. The weather held but was overcast and windy but the exercise kept us warm. Think this is the earliest in the year I've had an outdoor picnic. Must get a flask.

Then a chilled out evening watching Thunderbirds and Batman & Robin (I've had to record the last half for DD) and eating pizza.

Can't have a late night as DD has her karate grading tomorrow morning.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/03/2014 21:55

Just got back from the ice hockey, which was enjoyed by all, very violent exciting, the home team won 4-3. Need to get the DCs to bed now.

BitchytheGreat · 15/03/2014 21:55

Right I am knackered and have a bust day tomo as have to deal with everything I pulled out of ds' wardrobe. Here are the linkies:

No mission it is the weekend

babystep 16 we are edging nearer to the dreaded baby step 17

Oh shit. local team lost. Fuck that means next weekend is going to be err fiesty? Told you it would be a good game Grin The end of season games always have more fire to them as there is so much more at stake.

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/03/2014 21:59

The first period wasn't great, more stop than start, just didn't really get going (players were too busy fighting) but it got better and better in the other periods. Was very impressed with the female linesman who was piling in to break up the fights.

BlueEyeshadow · 15/03/2014 22:15

Hmm. Massive cross-post there - was grinning at the lists rather than the Monsters U thing.

BitchytheGreat · 15/03/2014 22:29

Grin meh it is rather amusing in an ironic way tbh blue

They have to be tough whoknows one of the uk female refs was reffing at the olympics in the female hockey games. there is a high standard of ref, but like anything you get the odd dud. There are a lot of rivalaries in Ice hockey it moves so fast the refs can't always see to make the right call, emotions run very high. Which is why next weekend will be extra interesting. I know in the past there have been the police called to one of the home sheffield games due to an incident between fans. Generally it is ok and really good chilled out fun. but there are one or two match line ups that will not be great.

BitchytheGreat · 16/03/2014 04:01

Yeah got a bit busy doing stuff. And somewhere along the line lost a few hours. Hope you are all tucked up in bed sleeping peacefully!

JustGettingOnWithIt · 16/03/2014 05:56

Bitchy I'm so sorry, that's really stressful, but you will get there one way or another.
It all came into play for us in court. I was able to show how much he'd been failed, while claiming everything was under control, for years. Not the most positive way to get what was needed for him, but sometimes the only way. We're back in Summer because they want this last statement that I fought so hard for, and then to be meaninful and of use to him, to be poorly re-written to cover up his continuing needs, just in time for him to not get PIP which he really needs. I didn't think this stuff would still be going on at this age, but it's a longer game than we realise.

I worked until three, stuck my head down for a couple of hours and am off again trying to do everything quietly, but we aren't done, (I hate being bloody disabled, everything take three times as much work and time) and now on totally borrowed time. Serious amounts of [coffee] and pain relief needed, and going to be in such a mess physically when this is done, but short needs must.

JustGettingOnWithIt · 16/03/2014 05:57

Short needs? Short term needs!

BitchytheGreat · 16/03/2014 06:33

In short the system sucks.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 16/03/2014 06:45

Can I ask what "clicky" means. A new word for me.

EustaciaVye · 16/03/2014 06:48

Just Wink

Clicky is the equivalent of cliquey.

EustaciaVye · 16/03/2014 06:48

Bugger, that was meant to be a sympathetic Sad for Just, rather than a cheeky Wink ...

atthestrokeoftwelve · 16/03/2014 07:07

I see. I had visions of some dog training system.

sanschocolat · 16/03/2014 08:45

Ha! Think I need a dog-training system atthestrokeoftwelve and I haven't got a dog Confused!

Morning everyone! You all seemed to be incredibly busy Flying-wise saying it is the weekend. Apart from a very brief visit to the supermarket, I did naff all yesterday. Absolutely naff all. Blush

Very sorry to hear of your demise Bitchy Grin Grin!!

Don't know how you are continuing to endure it all with such pragmatism Just but hope you are OK.

Another lovely pic from Goth (going to attempt to add one of my own for first time but no idea how as yet)

Hitting the garden too today blue

Enjoy your posh tea thinking101

Your outing sounds great Merry (apart from pricey catering)

All's well in the world when you are knob polishing Toffee Grin

Glad to lead you astray Stillwearing! Wink

Waves to Eustacia Whoknows and everyone else!

Right, the sun has made a reappearance, and I need to make up for everything I didn't do yesterday.

Need to make sure dd:
finishes hwk
gets ready for riding
has bath
goes to choir
cleans out hamster

And on my part I need to:
clear bed in boudoir than no-one sleeps in (dumping ground for clothes and everything else)
tidy up boudoir
polish dd shoes
wash uniform
sort laundry
do laundry
plant more seeds
make a curtain for gap in kitchen cupboard
(find backing material first)
make healthy dish (soup?) with all the veg bought yesterday

Loads more but that will do for now!

Have lovely Sundays everyone! (Hope yours is bearable Just)

EustaciaVye · 16/03/2014 08:52

I have had breakfast in bed today. I also told my children that the thing that would make me happiest is a tidy house. 7yo tells me she has tidied living room, hall and family room. I am not sure what her tidying entails but will settle for the chap from all 3 rooms being dumped in one pile. Off to investigate so wish me luck.

sanschocolat · 16/03/2014 08:58

Glad you are being spoiled Eustacia!

I've just tried to upload a picture of dd riding last time we went (what we are going to be doing later on) but it was taking so long to load that I felt sure I had got it wrong and that I was about to unwittingly upload a whole file of family photos that I got scared and logged out!

Does it take ages or was I doing something stupid?

ToffeeWhirl · 16/03/2014 09:01

In short the system sucks - that's it, Bitchy. DS1's 'learning centre' is full of children who need statements, but their parents have been fobbed off successfully. So long as they are there, the LEA can say they are doing their job. Hey, the LEA can even say they are doing their job with DS1, in spite of the fact that he isn't getting any teaching, apart from a few online lessons that I pushed for.

The 'special school' we visited for DS last week was full of children achieving their potential because they were getting the appropriate help. They were all children who'd been failed by mainstream and would have left school with mental-health problems and few or no qualifications. It's scandalous.

Just - I'm so sorry you are still having to fight court cases for your son. He is lucky to have you on his side.

Sorry, I forgot this is a Flying thread for a moment there Grin.

Was meant to be taking DS2 for his swimming lesson this morning, but he's had an upset tum, so can't go (following the 48-hour rule). DM is convinced that I'm just trying to avoid the palaver of going and said, "Well, he's ok now, isn't he?" Yes, but if he has a bug, he could pass it on to everyone else...

Hoping for a less busy day today. Have to find DS2's last report (no idea where it is), work on the statement and some OU work and email documents about DS1 to the paediatrician. Am defrosting a shepherd's pie for dinner later, so no cooking required Smile.

Hope you all have a good day. We are meant to be renewing our spirits today, if I remember rightly.

dizzyday07 · 16/03/2014 10:14

Yesterday was quite a busy one all in all but it was mostly outside the house!

Ta Da

  • Early morning 100 lengths swim for me (makes a change from DD going!)
  • Pop to shop for bits and pieces
  • Went to pub for lunch/rugby but it was shut!
  • DD and I to park
  • Weeded from flower bed and planted some primroses (with help from DD)
  • (DD and I) moved 500k topsoil out of bag on drive round to veg bed a bucket at a time
  • Made tea (some tortilla bake that wasn't universally successful)
  • Washing load in and hung to dry

Couldn't be fagged to wash the pots of shine sink last night so need to do that next.

I won a pair of tickets to see Rebecca Ferguson so DD and I are going to see her tonight Grin As it is going to be a late night I need to make sure that all uniforms/bags etc are ready before we go

ToffeeWhirl · 16/03/2014 10:55

ta da

Breakfasts
Ironing
Washing up
Dressed to shoes
To shop to buy flour
Made pancakes for DS2
Washed DS2's PE kit for taster day tomorrow
Looked everywhere for DS2's last report, but couldn't find it
Tried to persuade DS1 to come out with us (lovely Spring day, so we're going out to enjoy it), but he wouldn't Sad
Ate remaining pancake - so that was good for the diet

Enjoy your night out with DD tonight, dizzy Smile.

BitchytheGreat · 16/03/2014 12:35

Ok I have slept and am now up. got a shit load of stuff to do but did manage to complete one small project last night and start another one. This one should in theory be fairly quick to complete. Annoyingly my room isn't completely tidy despite the nearly 2 hrs it got last night but is it a damn sight closer to it. And i have pretty much killed my laptop battery which is a pita. :( Seems to be leaking from when the laptop threw itself on the floor. Need to check what i am covered for with the insurancey thing that was taken out when it was bought. But that is not on the list of stuff to do today. I have 2 1/2 hours once I am up to get ds' room sorted after dumping the stuffout of his wardrobe.

To do
coffee
breakfast
shower and clothes
empty car to borrow
drive mine around the block and see how it handles
deal with ds' bed which is under stuff
put bedding on ds' bed
pick up nutella and drinks for lunch box
collect ds
ds to bed
school bag made up
sort pe kit
relace ds' school shoes
early night!

right must move. Don't want to but must.

Hello everyone!
Wishing you all well on this lovely Spring Saint Paddy's weekend!
Have been missing in action for most of the month so far...Blush.
Everyone seemed so productive that I skulked off for a but with my tail between my legs!

But I can report a much cleaner and tidier home this week! Yay! I have been distracted by Spring and gardening and being outdoors, but I had to finally get stuck in as the place was in dire need of a scrubbing!

To Do:
Grocery shopping
Laundry
Seed planting
Dinner

GoingGoingGoth · 16/03/2014 14:55

SC the pictures take ages to upload.

Done
Beds
Dd to karate grading, with nice walk home
Lunch
Washing up
Laundry & hung out
Took fireplace to bits and cleaned it and more importantly put it back together & it still works.
Got DD to do some tidying up
Another small load laundry on

BlueEyeshadow · 16/03/2014 18:55

Ta da!
Roast dinner cooked
kitchen rescued
Visited friend with a bag of toys the boys are "lending" her new baby
Got baby cuddles. Aww!
Planted seeds - flowers and veg.
Boys fed
DS1 doing his hwk
DS2 in bath...

Didn't get any washing done today because DH forgot the dishwasher last night and didn't want both machines on at once. Bit miffed cos it would have dried beautifully. Oh well.

Continuing the theme of vegetable cakes - really getting sick of root veg now! - I tried a swede cake today. Decided to call it rutabaga cake as that sounds more exotic and the boys won't eat swede... They ate it. :)

Just, Toffee and Bitchy - sorry to hear of all the system battling. Wine definitely needed.
