I mean the stuff looks creased to me. Has been blowing on the line all day and so I've either folded it and put it away or hung it up but am not convinced I will be able to stop myself from ironing it before it's worn.

Jeans went in the ironing basket, you can't not iron jeans can you ?

I have never ironed jeans
in my life
ever

you shouldn't either
tis a waste of time

They will feel different when you put them on but after 10min I bet you won't notice.

MrsBadger · 09/07/2006 18:29

(but well done for not ironing anything else - doesn't it feel nice not having a big ironing pile?)

expatinscotland · 09/07/2006 18:30

sure you can. just bung them in the dryer and they come out nice and soft and wrinkle free.

Twiglett · 09/07/2006 18:31

it is body heat that removes creases

why on earth would anyone iron jeans .. waste of time .. wear them for 10 mins they'll be fine

nutcracker · 09/07/2006 18:33

I did actually put unironed jeans on the other day and took them off after 10 minutes to iron them because they looked creased at the bottom.

Ok must try harder not to iron

OP posts:
MrsGerrard · 09/07/2006 19:01

How on earth can you not iron?

I couldn't wear clothes that weren't ironed as wouldn't feel right.

MrsGerrard · 09/07/2006 19:02

nutty believe me love unironed clothes = scruff bag

It's BH btw xxx

SherlockLGJ · 09/07/2006 19:04

I am with Mrs G............'tis slatternly behaviour not to iron..............................................................................................................

Thank God for my ironing lady...............................................................................................................

moondog · 09/07/2006 19:06

There are wsome things you must iron or you look like a slattern.

schneebly · 09/07/2006 19:08

I don't own an iron

I do iron occasional shirts if required but do it next door at MIL's!

moondog · 09/07/2006 19:34

lol
Are you my sister Schneebs??

expatinscotland · 09/07/2006 19:36

I own an iron . . . b/c my mother bought me one.

I use it as a doorstep when I need to prop the front door open.

If it has to be ironed, I don't own it/wear it.

Same goes for clothes that require dry cleaning. Yuck.

NotQuiteCockney · 09/07/2006 19:36

I don't iron either. Well, DH's work shirts get ironed by the cleaner, but nothing else actually needs ironing.

I check clothes for whether they need ironing, before buying them - I take a bit of the cloth, and squish it, if it goes all wrinkly and horrid, then I don't buy that piece of clothing, as it will need ironing.

SenoraPostrophe · 09/07/2006 19:37

at this thread!

I have never ironed a pair of jeans in my life!

You must try harder, nutcracker. You're just not thinking like a slattern yet, that's all. think of all the lovely time you can have sitting on your bum instead of ironing.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2006 19:38

Ironing jeans?! No, no way, never. They're jeans, ffs.

SenoraPostrophe · 09/07/2006 19:38

nothing "rewuires" dry cleaning, btw expat. all can be washed on a wool wash I've found. it might need ironing though.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2006 19:39

Dry cleaning makes me ill. The clothes smell funny adn are stiff and make my skin break out in rash.

It's a waste of time. Could be MNing instead.

Besides, the clothes just get all wrinkly again.

TinyGang · 09/07/2006 19:41

Not iron? Anything?? God I break out in a cold sweat at that crinkly non-ironed look material. Also linen has been sent from hell to test the sanity of someone like me.

I also have a pile of ironong with snow on top and Chris Bonnington scaling the north side to setting up base camp

MrsBadger · 09/07/2006 19:42

ok, so do any of you ironers iron
bedlinen?
babygrows?
muslins?
teatowels?

as a non-ironer I am genuinely fascinated by this...

Gillian76 · 09/07/2006 19:43

But what about pleated school skirts?

vitomum · 09/07/2006 19:43

i only iron if i'm going to a wedding

Gillian76 · 09/07/2006 19:43

My MiL used to iron terry nappies!

NotQuiteCockney · 09/07/2006 19:45

Oh, and I think some things do genuinely require dry cleaning (e.g. lined clothes - the lining and the outer layer might shrink differently?). But we try to avoid dry cleaning too. It's gross.

Amusingly, our cleaner is really an ironer, and sometimes goes a bit mad and starts randomly ironing things like teatowels. So far she's not tried to iron either of the cats, at least.
