I mean the stuff looks creased to me. Has been blowing on the line all day and so I've either folded it and put it away or hung it up but am not convinced I will be able to stop myself from ironing it before it's worn.

Jeans went in the ironing basket, you can't not iron jeans can you ?

I iron, iron, iron like a madwoman, can't understand not needing too??!?!? I am careful about hanging the washing out but IMO stuff still looks far better ironed, even so called non-iron School shirts and trousers.

Love ironed bed covers (although I don't iron fitted sheets), ironed tea towels (although not terry towels. Don't iron socks, bras or knickers (unless they are cotton boxers).

I don't get what the problem is with ironing. An evening or an afternoon in front of the telly glass of wine/cup of tea/drink of water and it's done before you know it.

poisson that's so depressing. Of all the ways I could let my DD down, not ironing her uniform was one that had never crossed my mind.
Are teachers also prejudiced against unironed mothers?

poisson · 09/07/2006 22:43

MrsSpoon · 09/07/2006 23:03

I agree Cod, I don't see the point of putting on make-up, doing hair etc to put on clothes that aren't neatly ironed.

crunchie · 09/07/2006 23:09

How do you iron and camp???

Surely they cannot go together!! You'll meet me next year at the camping meet up - you'll know it's me by the non-ironed family I have

ours is all rolled/screwed up !!!

PinkTulips · 09/07/2006 23:31

my iron is still in the box under the sink where it has lived since we moved in, the ironing board acts as a handy coat rack in the hot press. the only things i ever iron are shirts and seeing as neither me nor dp ever have reason to wear shirts i don't iron. clothes de-wrinkle themselves after 2 minutes of wear.

expatinscotland · 09/07/2006 23:31

PT
Try it as a door stop. It's fab for that.

PinkTulips · 09/07/2006 23:37

expat - was a cat scratch post in our last apartment

it depends on the type of clothes you wear, my dp definitely doesn't have anything that would benefit from ironing... and would probably throw me out of the house if i tried. i don't have any clothes that need ironing either.... only have one top that looks creased if not ironed and it doesn't fit over pregnant boobs anyway!

will iron uniforms when kids are in school but dd is only 1 so no need to worry yet

MrsSpoon · 09/07/2006 23:41

Do you not get static shocks off of clothes that don't need ironing???

lewsmummy · 09/07/2006 23:48

We have an ironing pile but it rarely gets ironed (if it does dh does it not me ) i just take clothes off it an wear em. Def don't iron bedding it only gets creased again a few mins after getting in bed, and who really see's ur bedding apart from u?

I work for royal mail and dh is security officer so the only ting that always get ironed is our shirts.

My gran irons everything, and i mean everything sheets, clothes, underwear and get this i've seen her ironing towels. WTF!!

melrose · 10/07/2006 09:45

I never iron anything on a regular basis, just linen trousers when I wear them and DH will iron a shirt for a night out!

Re: bedding, when my Mum comes to stay she moans about the unironed bedding and has been known to wip it off and iron it herself. I just laugh. She says "it is Ok for me, but what about other guests" I laugh more
