Welcome one and all, especially if you love writing a great list, then sitting back and MNing crossing everything off.

And extra welcomes to those of us who write something we've already done on the list just for the satisfaction of getting to cross it off Grin

It is too hot!

I am turning into a right miserable bitch, people are commenting on the beautiful weather and instead of replying "Yes, beautiful" or some inanity, I find myself saying "I hate it, I want it to rain" at which point they start backing slowly away.....

Anyhoo, storms are acoming (sometime this week) and I couldn't be happier :o

FreakoidOrganisoid · 22/07/2013 17:51

I love storms mrs nm so some nice big storms to clear the air at night then sunshine in the day would suit me. Grey and drizzly depresses me though.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 22/07/2013 17:53

MrsNR that should be. Bloody phone

MrsNouveauRichards · 22/07/2013 19:14

Same here. Grey is horrid, I love sunshine, just not the heat!

MrsNouveauRichards · 23/07/2013 12:40

Afternoon all. Massive thunderstorm here last night and torrential rain here this morning (wonderful!) But sadly it is still hot and muggy.

TO DO
Clear up lunch stuff
Put towels in tumble
Washload on
Get changed
Go to horses (ds should nap today)
Pick DD up from school
Make dinner (shepherds pie)
Friend and her dc over for dinner
Kids to bed
Go back to yard to ride

My aim this week is to leave the kitchen clean every night. When I manage this, everything else seems to fall into place much easier.

MrsNouveauRichards · 24/07/2013 09:16

First day of the holidays! I am equal parts looking forward to the next six weeks and dreading them!

Today is going to be a quiet day, horses, quick trip into town and a friend's DS coming to play this afternoon. Followed by some baking this evening and an early night.

Yesterday was stressful, I'm glad it is over but I am still in a bad mood from it!

ZingWidge · 24/07/2013 12:13

MrsNR
me too! are you me?Grin

I'm trying to fill in the 2 week stretch from 5th August with seeing friends and family so I don't feel so abandoned with 6 kids on my own.

but next week it's only DD and me, I'm already planning my tidying regime!

it will be so nice that I can clean a room and it will stay tidy - she's only 15 months, much easier to look after!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/07/2013 14:18

Day three and ds is already being a little shit. How do you get them to listen to you and not answer back??? Dd has never been trouble like this.

ZingWidge · 24/07/2013 14:28

they will not answer back to you when away from you or asleep.

you can achieve them listening to you if:
a, you have a loudspeaker
b, you withhold all things precious
c, if they want something from you

(extracted from the best seller "ZingWidge's guide to kids aka what the fuck have I done?!"Grin )

MrsNouveauRichards · 24/07/2013 15:01

To be honest, it is not my own kids I have problems with, (well I do, but they get roared at :o ) it is other people's. I seem to spend a lot of time doing favours for people because I don't work very often, live a few doors from the school, and nearly always say yes! Which means I rarely get to invite kids over for the dcs to play with, because i am already looking after some others. I don't even like children!

Anyway, DD and her friend are having a lovely time and he is so polite and helpful! I may keep him.

Done bugger all housework today, oh well!

ZingWidge · 24/07/2013 15:08

you are lovely but please learn to say no.
maybe every other time?

we used to always have a friend's dd coming over, but ours were rarely invited back.
in fact we haven't been invited to theirs as a family for almost 2 years- despite living very close.

eventually I realized how lopsided this was and put a stop to it.
I love a house full of kids too, but I'm not a free nursery IYSWIM!Wink

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/07/2013 16:53

I have tried point b to no avail. That just leads to even more whinging, stamping feet, screams of its not fair, I hate you, you are always mean to me and I never get what I want etc etc. A few weeks sgo he had the wii, his ds, his cars, his scooter, his bike, his footballs and tge trainset confiscated. He was left with lego and books. He was still a little shit.(he has since earnt most of it back)

MrsNouveauRichards · 24/07/2013 17:17

My two are so different. DD would go through difficult phases, but they would always be over and done with in about 2wks. DS will quite happily have the same phases last months. He will be the death of me!

Zing, my friends are pretty good and will have my kids in return, but the problem with having the same kids here all the time is that you start treating them like your own, and they often get shouted at too :o

MrsNouveauRichards · 25/07/2013 07:35

Well last night was a success. By the time I sat down to watch some intellectual program Glee reruns I had a clean and relatively tidy kitchen, most of the sitting room toys were put away, and the dining room table had been cleared, wiped and swept under.

Feeling pretty smug, except after a shocking nights sleep I have the lurgy! That will teach me to do housework! :o

JKSLtd · 25/07/2013 07:49

Well done apart from the lurgy!

Not enough sleep yawn.

Today:
Wallchart for holiday DONE
Make packed lunches
Wm on
Card for friend & drop off with bottle
Bouncy castle day with DC
Home for dd nap?
New toilet charts x 2 (try and get them on downstairs loo too)
Tea x 4 & tidy up (or McDs? On beach?)
DC bath & bed
Dh home late

OP posts:
SlatternismyMiddlename · 26/07/2013 10:23

MrsNR hope the lurgy has passed.

I have been a bit side tracked with work at the moment so haven't got into the swing with housework, and this weather is certainly not helping. DH is away for a few days so I really have to up my non existent game. We have friends coming for Sunday lunch so I must tidy up or pray for good weather so everybody sits outside.

SlatternismyMiddlename · 26/07/2013 18:03

DONE

Make up/sponge bags finally emptied from holiday
Bed made
Wash baskets seperated into washes
2 washes done
Supermarket shop done
Den floor swept

TO DO

Shopping put away
Dinner
Hang wet washing on dryer

Have a good weekend everyone.

JKSLtd · 26/07/2013 20:29

Spent the day with DD & DS2 in just pants & t-shirts. They weren't too bad really, esp DS2 who amazed me by doing 2 poos in the loo [shock Grin
No wees in the loo though. But lots of stickers on charts for trying & lots of buttons eaten :)

Sat:
Ds2 to football with DH (in pants hopefully)
Poss fire station for open day
DS1 home from sleepover at some point
more toilet training...

MrsNouveauRichards · 27/07/2013 09:55

Sadly the lurgy has developed into full blown tonsilitis. Yesterday morning I felt like I had a pair of donkeys testicles in the back of my throat, that was after going to bed the night before shivering and freezing, then spending the rest of the night sweating buckets - delightful!

Anyway, today feels better, and just as well as I have loads to do!

This morning:

Get everyone dressed
Strip beds
Laundry
Decide what to have for dinner
Pop into town
Early lunch

This afternoon:
At the yard
Do usual jobs
Dad coming to sort out tow bar for me
Clean tack
Lunge horse
Clean horse
Plait horse
Sort out stuff needed tomorrow
Home
Put new DVD on for dcs
Make dinner
Make beds - clean sheets
Put all clean washing AWAY!
Double check all clothes ready for tomorrow
Clean boots
Write morning list.

JKSLtd · 28/07/2013 10:52

Oh dear :( Have you got ABs?

DD driving me crazy, generally. Why is she such a PITA? I know she isn't really but I seem to have no patience with her behaviour, esp her screeching - a girl thing?

Toilet training not exactly going brilliantly, no hits yesterday. None so far today, but poo & wee incidents. Nice.

At least they are still happy to sit on the toilet.

Anyone know anything about eBay? got an offer to buy everything but don't know how to deal with it.

To Do:
get me dressed
wet washing out
wm on again
beach stuff ready
lunch & tidy up
DD nap
sailing/beach time?
planning for next week?
dinner, bath & bed

OP posts:
ZingWidge · 28/07/2013 16:16

in case anyone wants to sell stuff on Ebay - they have a zero insertion fee offer till midnight today. you can list up to 100 items.

thought some of you might be able to do it quickly.

SlatternismyMiddlename · 28/07/2013 22:22

I spent all day cleaning yesterday and getting ready for visitors that were coming today. All well except when I went to prepare the chicken I discovered the use by date was Saturday, visitors were coming on Sunday. I decided to wing it as it seemed fine. But this morning decided that I couldn't risk the possibility of someone falling ill. Therefore had defrost and re marinade all the chicken - took an hour that I didn't have.

Anyway, BBQ went well.

I really really must get out of this habit of boom or bust cleaning - I only seem to do blitz cleaning when visitors are coming. I would like to keep things ticking over rather than letting it go to hell and then do everything in one day.

MrsNouveauRichards · 29/07/2013 07:02

Same here Slattern. I'll know the house is desperate for a hoover, for example, but I'll get round to do it in the hour before people arrive :o

Throat is still sore but less manky looking (i won't go into details as I appreciate not everyone is as gross as me) no AB's as I don't bother with the Dr, my DH is a vet, which is close enough :o

Met my dads new girlfriend yesterday. I really like her, she seems just like my dad.

Probably should do stuff today, like washing etc as we are off camping next week and I haven't done a thing!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 29/07/2013 15:24

wow JKS you're brave doing two at once!!

How you feeling MrsNR?

Slattern I got really good at having my house always visitor ready for a few months (thanks to this thread). Then I went back to work Grin

Feel as though I have achieved today Smile

I have:
Stripped and washed all beds
Done a load of normal washing
Tidied corner of doom in my room
Finished unpacking from weekend
cleaned and de-moulded bathroom
de-moulded my room and sitting room window frames
Cleaned all windows (insides) and mirrors
Hoovered whole house (except dc room as it wasn't tidy)
Cleaned out fridge
Cleaned out drink fridge
Cleaned out cutlery drawer
Dusted whole house (dc have kind of done their room)
Pulled out my bedroom furniture and cleaned behind/under it
Done online shop

DD even cleaned her desk drawer out without me making her.

Just need to get last load dry and remake the beds. Going to dig something out of the freezer for dinner.
