Welcome one and all, especially if you love writing a great list, then sitting back and MNing crossing everything off.

And extra welcomes to those of us who write something we've already done on the list just for the satisfaction of getting to cross it off Grin

Oh yes. When I had toddlers nothing got done!! School and preschool raised the stakes (and standards have slipped slightly again now I'm working!)

I don't always manage the hoovering and when I do its a quick once over of visible areas rather than proper hoover! Sinks only because the toothpaste spit the dc leave makes me queasy. If I'm organised I sort the washing the night before. Oh and also because I have to be at work by 830 the dc go to breakfast club which cuts out a significant amount of time :-)

It took me a long time to get the this level! There is a huge difference in what I achieve now compared to when I joined this thread, jks and alibaba can testify to that!

Oh yes, the joy of crossing something off. The reason why lists exist!

Also definitely finish a job before starting another- that way you can cross it off and feel like you've achieved Smile

Sorry about all the typos, am on my phone and it doesn't like me going back and editing!

With decluttering, I usually wait until I am so stressed about a particular cupboard or surface that I don't care what happens to stuff as long as it is gone! Stops the I might want/ need/ use/wear that. Or the I should recycle that. Or it's a waste to chuck that. Or I could get £1.50 for that on ebay...

We still have far too much stuff though!

Report
FreakoidOrganisoid · 14/10/2013 13:46

Yummyburger I don't know if this will help at all but I have a list of daily jobs, so a list of stuff like washing up and wiping round kitchen that needs to be done everyday. Most of this is either done first or last thing so I incorporated it into my morning and evening routine-now those things are so routine I do them without really noticing.

So my daily list is
All up, dressed etc
Washing up
Wipe round kitchen
Load of washing on
Wipe bathroom sink
Wipe loo
Hoover downstairs
Dc to school
Me to work

Then in the eve
Dinner
Wash up and clean round kitchen
Tidy round
Bath and bed dc

At some point I'll hang out washing or put it in dryer, fokd, iron, put away. Depends when I get home.

Todays extra jobs are dusting, stripping and washing my bed, cleaning the mirrors and the inside of fownstairs windows. But because all the other stuff is do routine now (it didn't used to be!), I only feel like I'm doing a couple of jobs.

Yummy burger - I could have written your post. I certainly get disheartened at the never endingness of it all.

Maybe you should breaking your list up if it is too overwhelming. Keep a master list which has everything on it so you don't forget but then have a secondary list of what you are actually going to do today. Or another option that I use at work is look at my 'big' list and tell myself to get 5 things off it, doesn't matter what they are just as long as I get 5 things off.

Having spent some time knocking around this board I am coming to the conclusion that I have too much stuff and I need to look I why I find it so difficult to get rid of it. Answers on a postcard please........ Smile

In need of an arse kicking

Jobs that need doing that I may or may not do:
Ironing
Put various piles of clothes away
Dusting
Hoovering
Mopping
Tidy dc room
Clean windows

Think I'll start with the clothes as that will make thr biggest difference to the look of the house.

Did someone mention Slatternly behaviour? I'm here Grin.

My beautiful cats have gone on a peeing frenzy and peed in our bedroom and the kids rooms. I am not happy. The carpets have so many chemicals on them, I think the house is going to combust. The only good thing about this is it makes me lift every item off the floor so it doesn't get peed on. The floors have never been so clean apart from the pee

TODAY
Vacuum up oxi clean sprinkled on the various floors
Hang up variety of clothes in my bedroom currently languishing in a pile
Sort laundry basket
Put wash on
Make a start on spare room (visitor coming in a weeks time and you can't see the bed)
Sort out birthday card for sis in law
