Hi all, After a pretty rough ride last year (2012) I think I feel ready to start again with babysteps
So who's with me for the journey?

Old and new steppers are welcome!

Lets do this one small step at a time!

Oh, thanks bessie, I've seen that one but don't have it. We have a couple other books of a similar nature, though, some I had from back in the day when I was a NQT and young and optimistic and a teacher of three year olds. Right now SB and I have been working on trying to open and close the scissors with one hand (I have teaching scissors with extra holes so we can cut together). He sat on my lap with the scissors and paper and we cut shapes for his rocket picture (just squares and triangles). Then he glued everything down and put sparkly star stickers on. He's very proud of it and when I asked if we should hang it up he ran into the kitchen saying "Oh yes, on the refrigerator big door!" And so it's hung up (I'm big on hanging/displaying all most of his projects and the only time I can't is when we have days where he draws 15-20 masterpieces in a sitting).

I'm trying to persuade myself to do some tidying in my workroom. It hasn't been working till I read this thread and now I feel kicked into action a bit inspired!

Off to capitalise on the enthusiasm!

PS - I have got rid of a big bag of stuff to the charity shop!

Whatnameforme · 11/01/2013 16:21

Scout it sounds like you have had a very full day plus the bits you don't realise you've done until you sit down later!!
Adora - another fruitful day for you I see
Hey All, hope everyone has had a great Friday and happy birthday.
The hormones are great, sadly I have pnd at the moment but working through it! Smile

educatingarti · 11/01/2013 17:26

~I've just spent an hour tidying 3 drawers at my desk! Blush

I've done it properly - only putting back things that I use almost all the time and so warrant being so close to hand. I've chucked some stuff - sorted a "stationery" drawer in another cupboard (to take the not so frequently used stuff). But I've still got some random stuff to get rid of or find other homes for!

Does anyone want some compatible ink cartridges for use with a Canon Pixma iP4200/52005200R ? [grin} I haven't had this printer for over a year!

I need another cup of tea!

Scout - could you get something like this for when Small Boy does loads of pictures in a day. Then you could just slide pics in, he can have fun looking at the "book" he has made and you can replace with new pics as he does them!

bessie26 · 11/01/2013 21:39

Well done arti - there's one job you won't have to re-do for a while!

I've cleared the sink, laid out clothes & packed the bags for swimming tomorrow. Time to relax with a Wine & Miranda I think! Grin

educatingarti · 11/01/2013 22:01

Grin Bessie
It's taken me half an hour to tidy up after tidying out the drawers!

Whatnameforme · 11/01/2013 22:54

A good clean out educating, well done. I might get one of the books for my little one, that's a great idea!
Hi Bessie swimming is my plan for tomorrow also, I haven't been as organised as you though!

Today I have
Unloaded and loaded dishwasher
School run
Showered and dressed
Hair and make up
Quick blitz on kitchen
Cooked healthy meal
Baby massage

Hopefully a more productive day tomorrow, Smile

educatingarti · 12/01/2013 11:04

Morning everyone!

Where is everyone I wonder?

Today I intend to "get stuff done"

Starting with listing some books on ebay and cleaning the bathroom!

oooggs · 12/01/2013 12:10

Doing the bathroom next.....

Still to do

Make Tea
Remake dd's bed
Take washing out of wm & reload
Tumble some washing

educatingarti · 12/01/2013 13:16

OK - I have listed one book on ebay. (Anyone want a hardware manual for a Sinclair ZX Spectrum? - remember those?)

I then blitzed the bathroom.
Now I wipe over stuff in the bathroom fairly regularly ( I thought) and wipe out the shower, bath and screen every time I use it. I thought it would be a case of dealing with a bit of dust I could see on the floor, a quick wipe round and steam mopping the floor.

So now I'm wondering - where on earth does all the dust come from? (OK _ I know it's mostly dead skin - right -but surely I'd have to be a snake to have shed that much! )

I have removed quantities of dust from the floor, behind the (never before cleaned Blush ) radiator pipes, the corner of the wall Hmm , and behind and on top of pictures and the mirror.

Another thing - how on earth does dust stick to vertical surfaces? I've dusted so much off the outside of the toilet pan and sink pedestal.

However I've now wiped and steam mopped everything within an inch of it's life, put back only the things I actually use in the bathroom ( plus a carved soapstone seal - )

It's got to be lunchtime now - right?

educatingarti · 12/01/2013 14:38

Have now listed and packed up a load of books on webuybooks.co.uk and made myself just over £10 while de-cluttering at the same time. I have really been flying this morning - for the first time in ages but feel as though I'm flagging now!

ScubaSarah · 12/01/2013 15:18

Hi Ladies

Yesterday was a bust, by the time I go home from work I jut ordered pizza ad watched telly. Sink wasn't used so still shiny :-|

Today's list of must dos:

Shopping
Unload/reload dishwasher

Cook Lamb Shanks for dinner
Shine sink

How are you all getting on?!

AdoraBell · 12/01/2013 15:34

Arti I am also perplexed by dust at times, I keep finding patches of it where I thought there was none.

Sarah hope the pizza was good, some days you just need to do that.

We're Christmas free at lastGrin, never left it this late before but it just couldn't be done until today.
DW has been emptied and breakfast things loaded,
WM is waiting for it's second load.
We've picked up the cushion stuffing that the dogs spread all over the garden last nightAngry, at least it was one we were planning on throwing.
Dustbin was put out as bin men approached.

Still to do, lunch and dinner, more laundry, assess pantry contents.

Don't know what the afternoon holds yet, OH has a business lunch but then wants us to go out and do something together.

TheOnlyPink · 12/01/2013 15:54

Hi ladies!

I know flylady does hers on a monday, but i think sunday would be better for me, dh can take the kids out or keep them occupied while i strip the beds etc. I'd be done alot faster than having to stop and sort out ds2 or not being able to sort upstairs while he is napping.

Washing dried and put away Smile

Scout19075 · 13/01/2013 10:36

Arti, on phone so can't pm (also away until tonight with no computer) but would be interested in the Spectrum book.... Can you point me the direction on eBay?

educatingarti · 13/01/2013 16:39

Hi Scout

I've PM'ed you the link but if you search on ebay for Sinclair Spectrum Hardware Manual you should be able to see it!

I've come on here in search if inspiratoin and enthusiasm. I've load of things I could do but don't know what to start on! I keep telling myself to just do something - it doesn't matter what!

Maybe start by putting dirties in the dishwasher, setting off a load of washing and tidying the kitchen!

educatingarti · 13/01/2013 17:23

Ok - have washed kitchen floor ( I love my steam mop), put on a load of washing and put dirties in dishwasher. That gives me an excuse to mess on mn relax for a bit doesn't it?

Need to tidy kitchen, wipe surfaces, put yet more recycling in bin and change sheets on bed as an absolute minimum tonight!

educatingarti · 13/01/2013 18:50

Back abgain! I've wiped down kitchen surfaces and cabinet fronts and I've nearly finished decluttering one bedside table.

I've been quite inspired by the Banish Clutter Forever book ( although the tone gets quite bossy and she takes it too far IMHO). One of the authors principles is to store stuff (if possible) within an arms length of where it is actually used. That way you are more likely to put stuff away again! It has made me look at my bedside cabinet in a new light - I mean can anyone tell me why I needed a Swiss Army penknife in the top drawer? I also had 8 pens and 3 pencils in the tp drawer too! I've kept one of each and re-located the rest to the office where they will no doubt in time get spread liberally round the flat again. I'm now looking for an appropriate container to put all my first aid stuff in. (Maybe the plasters were in the drawer for when I cut myself in bed with the Swiss Army knife!)

I'm also finding the minimalist thread inspiring ( although I am nowhere near a minimalist!!
