Autumn organisation for slatterns old and new with support/advice and mugs of tea

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 01/10/2012 09:38

I thought it was time for a new Autumnal thread for all slatterns.

This thread is welcome to all who like to write lists or have loads of jobs to get done or if you need a kick up the bum for motivation. Also good for support with relationships, random advice on moths and birthday cakes!

We welcome new slatterns, post your lists here.

Back in a sec with my list.

Not sure yet JKS, either Easter or June half term. Bf's criteria is warm and somewhere he can kitesurf. My criteria is warm and my kindle (that he is getting me for xmas)...

JKSLtd · 12/12/2012 20:52

Yup, my criteria would be warm.
Ideally not kid friendly if I wasn't taking my own Xmas Grin

FestiveOrganisoid · 12/12/2012 23:25

It would appear i have further criteria ie not a shithole. Kitesurfing places are more expensive than non. If i am going to pay lots of money to go on hol i want it to be nice. Clean. Slightly more luxurious and comfortable than a caravan. Not look like a military barracks. I suspect I might be being a bit of a princess over it Blush

JKSLtd · 13/12/2012 09:30

Festive - not at all. In fact I got quite stressed out when booking our Barcelona trip as I wanted it to be perfect. I started out all casual, oh anywhere will be fine. Then started looking and realised I wanted, non-child-friendly, not even remotely shithole-y, not noisy, nice in every way, etc, etc.

I think if you don't get to go away very often there is more pressure for it to be fab. I really didn't want to be there on holiday miserable about the venue/locale/view/facilities like a story off that complainey programme, what's it called? Anne Robinson I think where people tell their awful holiday stories.

Woah jks must be bad if you're prioritising ironing!

I might be getting my first ever coldsore Confused. Not sure how as neither bf or i have ever had one but have had a tingle all day. Got some zorirax which i am applying just in case.

Just rushed dinner. Now off to ds' nativity.

JKSLtd · 13/12/2012 18:26

Well I've put up two lines of string which is plenty for the cards, so far. DS1 brings loads home from school (not my thing, or his it seems as he never asks to send any!) and DH from work (they haven't started coming home yet though) so I will need more space eventually.

JKSLtd · 14/12/2012 19:02

Hmm, it won't really hold enough, though I suppose I could get a few for all the doors?
A friend & I had this idea for an invention where you have a rectangle of felt that fits a standard door, with elastic at the corners (like a mattress cover), you pop one on each side of a door, you also get a supply of sticky velcro-ey type bits that you put on the back of any cards you get, then pop the cards on the felt. Would take loads I reckon.

My friend has a long one that goes the whole length of the door. Holds £150 cards i think she said. That was from next. I wanted two so i could have one on each of my sitting room doors but could only find one out of all the shops i went in! Will order another online in the sales for next year. Your invention sounds good though! You could add random festive fuzzy felt too ;-)

JKSLtd · 14/12/2012 20:30

LOL at fuzzy felt Xmas Grin

I do actually have some, too many bits for the 2 boards it came with too.
Your friends one sounds good.

SlatternismyChristmasname · 15/12/2012 10:05

Morning all Xmas Smile

I have one of those over the door things for cards but it drove us mad because we couldn't close the door (draughts) and it kept banging every time you moved the door. DH solved the problem this year by hanging it over a picture frame instead, problem solved.

I'm having a kids party today so a lot of tidying has been done. This morning it is all about the food prep.

Hope you all feeling better.

JKSLtd · 16/12/2012 20:17

Slattern - genius DH! If i had a couple I could use them off pictures instead of doors too.
How did the party go?

DS1 throwing up today, DS2 needed asthma nurse to come out for nebuliser & DD is moaning minnie with her cough & cold. Great day Hmm

So, assuming all DC are better tomorrow morning:
DS2 to school
DD, DS1 & me round corner for shopping bits
DD nap
lego/playmobil with DS1?
lunch & tidy kitchen
laundry, ironing, etc
DS2 home, check bag, repack
tea x 4 & tidy up
DC bath & bed
early night (DH away)

SlatternismyChristmasname · 16/12/2012 21:03

JKS - party went really well, although I think my DH has officially been rumbled as the bloke dressed up in the red suit. The kids all had a blast and judging by the amount of empty bottles I put in recycling this morning, the adults did fine too.

I'm glad I re read your list, I had forgotten to get crackers. Hope the kids have a better day tomorrow.

This week will be all about getting ready for DD's birthday party next weekend. After that i'm officially done for the rest of the year!
