Autumn organisation for slatterns old and new with support/advice and mugs of tea

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 01/10/2012 09:38

I thought it was time for a new Autumnal thread for all slatterns.

This thread is welcome to all who like to write lists or have loads of jobs to get done or if you need a kick up the bum for motivation. Also good for support with relationships, random advice on moths and birthday cakes!

We welcome new slatterns, post your lists here.

Back in a sec with my list.

Well done Touch of insanity, that's a good list of 'done' stuff. Ullena perhaps you have to declare garden officially a bog and find some suitable bog plants.

FawkesoidOrganisoid · 13/11/2012 18:48

Am so behind at the moment. Need to get back into regular posting and listing proper.

This eve
Get dc to take all bricks back upstairs and put away
Bath and bed dc
Wash up
Make lunch for tomorrow
General tidy round

Haven't done ds' reading tonight but he is too tired.

Slatternismymiddlename · 13/11/2012 19:07

Hi everyone, I'm too tired to list what needs to be done (also too depressing) so will instead list what has been done in last few days (much more motivational).

A lot of paperwork sorted (last years christmas present receipts anyone?)
Big pot of pasta sauce made
All bought presents hidden from investigative eyes
Ds Christmas cards started (9 done, only 25 more to go)
Kids presents mostly bought (the joy of discovering online shopping)
Finally got DH to agree not to go overboard with presents this year (never worked before)
Started to convert spare/junk room back into habitable room for visitor over Christmas
Made a start on decorations for DD's party in December (don't want to let her party be lost amongst Christmas stuff)

Not done but really really needs done
Take down Halloween decorations Blush
Ironing

RuleBritannia · 13/11/2012 19:10

I've left my list of things to do downstairs.

JKSLtd · 14/11/2012 09:53

  • straight to DS2's sch for parents evening
  • DC bath & bed, dinner & early night for me (think DH out)

JKSLtd · 14/11/2012 13:23

Massive diary & paperwork session done, phew!

My afternoon orchestra concerts at Christmastime can get a bit mad, plus now adding in various Governor stuff, plus evening orchestra, plus Christmas fairs, parties, etc. The next few weeks look a bit manic.
Christmas itself should be a quiet doddle after all that!

Today:

  • try and sort diaries with DH DONE
  • try and tackle pending paperwork on kitchen counter... DONE
  • orchestra for a bit
  • collect DS1 & his swimming lesson
  • straight to DS2's sch for parents evening

JKS congratulations on the weight loss - especially at this time of year (I'm eating carbs like the world is about to end). My diary is also ridiculous from this point on. My last big celebration that i'm responsible for is the 23rd dec so come Christmas day I will officially be on a break.

Today I achieved
Dyed hair (long overdue)
3 loads of washing done
Tumble on once
Ds wrote 5 more Christmas cards
Collected a few toys to give to the church fair from DS's room

Minimammoth · 14/11/2012 16:36

I am in awe of all this Christmas prep going on. I am not going to panic, no, no panicking here.
Tooth ache still bad, have cancelled all work until Friday, then have to be in action.
Gather weekend stuff.
DH to hospital tomorrow.
Everything else on hold

Ullena · 14/11/2012 18:05

Minimammoth, that is my DH's plan!

Minimammoth · 14/11/2012 18:59

Which bit Ullena?

JKSLtd · 14/11/2012 20:19

Hopefully the 'not panicking' bit, rather than the hosp bit?

Another early start with DS2, yawn.

Hi again everyone. Yes 40min walk to nursery is a killer and mostly hills. Still it's only 2 days a week so saves £ on gym membership that I would never use

Today we had a new Aldi open. It is great but dangerous. I spent £63 (£5 off voucher) and then had to carry two of their giant bags 20 mins home - it is on the way to nursery unfortunately so temptation will no doubt prevail twice a week.

So, today:

Walked to nursery and back with stupidly heavy bags of booze, meat and biscuits
Met 'handy man' who is scraping and re painting laundry room and putting up a radiator cover
Put away all shopping
Put away all laundry
Put away photos from Easter Blush into albums
Bagged up huge amount of baby stuff for baby shower on Sunday
Sent Amazon wishlist for DD to friend
Cleaned shower

To do:
Sort 5 piles of paperwork on kitchen table
Sew string/ribbon into mittens and decide if they are Xmas pressies or ours
Write letter to Court with further evidence for CSA tribunal whilst ignoring twat texts from exp
Hoover
Pay handyman online
Clean fridge
Sweep porch (can never be arsed with this one and it rolls over weekly/monthly)

Rejoining. I have lots to do and little to no motivation to do it. I still have to:

Wash up (after I make dinner, that is)
Fold the clean washing
Mop the kitchen, hall, living room and bathroom floors.
Scrub the bathroom until it's shiny again.
Tidy up the play room.
Feed the dog.
Sew the seam of DD's pyjamas back together.

I also need to have a bath and sort myself out plus sort out the clothes littering the floor in my bedroom and sweep the garden. Let's not go intp the amount of clothes that need sorting and organising.

ellargh · 15/11/2012 17:00

I also need to wrap DD2's birthday presents which are currently in the shed, start buying Christmas presents little by little and week by week (DC's just need stocking fillers) & hoping DP doesn't spoil mine and the DD's festive fun with his 'pointless Christmas' speech and Grinch-like manner.

JKSLtd · 15/11/2012 18:05

Eurgh, feeling rough again, and lots of coughing. And now i think my lungs are making a funny noise if i breathe deeply Hmm

Thurs:

  • sit down, tv & MN DONE
  • lunch & DD's nap DONE
  • sch runs DONE (no reading though)
  • DC tea & my tea DONE & DC to bed

Hello, can I join in or am I too late? I'm a SAHM to two DS's, one of whom is sleep averse. I'm flipping awful at keeping up with housework and I do it in a burst and then it gets left, I need inspiration and motivation and a kick up the bum to sort it once and for all.

My to do list for Friday:

Shopping for misc food and 4 birthday cards
Clean bathroom
Clean kitchen sides
Sweep kitchen floor
Strip my bed, wash and remake
Wash clothes in machine
Put clean clothes away
Hoover all floors

I really should declutter but the floors need to be rid of the crud

Minimammoth · 16/11/2012 06:43

That does not sound good JKS. Welcome wewerhere, I find that if I am feeling overwhelmed I tell myself to just do 20 mins. Then I find I can do more without getting bored. DH back home. We think that op was successful but time will tell.
Today
Shop
Pack for weekend
Print notes
Go through list of stuff to go with me
Check DHs food needs for weekend

Toothache may be trigeminal neuralgia. Have started a new thread for info. Hope it doesn't go on too long as it bloody hurts. On strong ish pain killers for a bit. Sad

Good afternoon old and new self confessed slatterns.

Hope your cough is better JKS. Mini, how is DH? Half mum, is this bed swap weekend - if so good luck. I can't begin to imagine the logistics.

I managed to collect a bin liner's worth of toys for the church fair. It's only a drop in the ocean of decluttering but small steps. During the clear out I managed to sort a lot of them out and reunite bits with other bits.

This morning I vacuumed all the bedrooms and dusted the kids rooms.

Rest of today
Dust our room
Make dinner
Commence ironing marathon

JKSLtd · 16/11/2012 19:25

Not feeling much better at all boo. Have had a total of 3 hours in bed during the day today and just feeling washed out. Maybe this is flu? Should've had my flu jab!

So, done nothing of substance today, put the wm & dw on and that's it.
Dh taking over 'manfully' Hmm & currently cooking my dinner :)

Tomorrow (assuming miracle recovery):

  • DS2 footie
  • DS1 to Carer's outing
  • PO (must do!)
  • DS2 birthday party pop in
  • all out to fireworks/lights switch on

Ongoing:

  • family tree (scanning in old certs & photos & email contact); Dug out files to start again
  • buy frames to hang on the wall & hang up as many photos as poss; need some sizes; get sizes into phone for TKMaxx trip
  • lose weight! (From: 66kg; Target: 54kg); Scales said 54.8 woohoo
  • sort wills; nudge DH to see what he wants to do
  • clear out of the top of my desk
  • kids photos albums; upload onto Snapfish; order printouts; put in albums. Step 1; sort all photos on iPhoto Doing
  • try and sell unwanted light? eBay + other stuff?
  • to buy; new toy ironing board

Christmas:

  • wrap DC presents; Started
  • list what food I've already bought (choc tin, biscuit tin, cracker box, Choc tree decorations...)
  • find out if younger brother might be coming; Still vague
  • wait to see if parents book cruise or come to us
  • early Christmas with PIL prep; spare room (incl loft trip), presents wrapped
  • get advent calendars & crackers
  • presents for DSis & family in France Bought; package & post early
  • prob not doing present for DBro in Bermuda?
  • presents for DH's Aunt & Uncle told Dh to sort
  • presents for PIL; T-shirt for FIL & cosmetics for MIL; Bought & wrapped
  • presents for DPs; DDad DONE
  • DH presents; DONE
  • Nanny presents?
wewereherefirst · 16/11/2012 19:53

Clean bathroom
Clean kitchen sides DONE
Sweep kitchen floor DONE
Strip my bed, wash and remake DONE
Wash clothes in machine DONE
Put clean clothes away DONE
Hoover all floors-downstairs done.

Tomorrow's plan:

Start wrapping Christmas presents

Right, off to unload the dishwasher and make bottles up and crack open the wine! Grin

FawkesoidOrganisoid · 17/11/2012 17:03

Bf brought his cat over last night (son of my cat) as we are trying to keep them used to each other to avoid problems if we live together in future.

MY day today began with cleaning and bleaching the bath where it had pooed in there. Nice.

Been on first aid course all day today. Lungs and wrists hurt from resuscitation!

Quite feel like having a bath but will i feel like i am bathing in cat shit after this morning??
