Who wants to join me for a school holiday fly thread?

carrotsandcelery · 08/07/2012 08:52

I am hoping to develop a new routine for the school holidays which gets me through the basics, encourages the dcs to do a bit, and leaves me plenty time to mumsnet play with the dcs.

Anyone who would like to join me please sign in below.

Ideas how to achieve this are also gratefully appreciated.

AdoraBell · 03/08/2012 15:06

Not much activity at chez Adora today. All dogs are snoozing in the kitchen and I'm watching blokes doing twirly twists mid-air.

Ta Das
Up & brekkie for family
Assembled Packed lunch for DD2, t'other one is still in bed.
My brekkie
Emptied & reloaded DW

Currently waiting for hot water so I can shower.

AdoraBell · 03/08/2012 15:08

Can I ask, what is this shred you speak ofConfused ?

carrotsandcelery · 03/08/2012 19:11

Hi Adora.

There has been a bit of activity here. Nothing major, just a bit of shuffling around.

Ta Das:
washed and dressed
dw loaded
lounge decluttered
lounge dusted
lounge hoovered
thorough hoover downstairs
feeding the five thousand - we seem to have become the "go to" house in the street!

Hi Carrots

Still not much going on here, everyone's fed and watered for the day, DDs have just been sent to bed and I'm catching up on the day's Olympic events.

Dustbin goes out tomorrow and I did intend to vacuum today and empty it out, but I vacuumed yesterday and honestly, it's not like I've had hoarders of people traipsing through the house.

We have rain forecast all over the weekend so I'll do a bare minimum of laundry tomorrow. A bit of swish & swipe style cleaning and that's about all I have the energy for.

BurpingHerbert · 05/08/2012 16:10

Hi Everyone,

My house is MINGING!!!!!!!!!!
My 8 year old son has asked me to post on this thread. That's how bad it is!! Blush

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 3 kids, their rooms are always a tip and so is the rest of the house. Things only get done in desperation and I think I am incapable of keeping a tidy house.

Where do I start? Shock

carrotsandcelery · 05/08/2012 23:32

Hi Herbert!

Don't panic.

Flylady would say to start just by cleaning your sink. You don't have to do anything else, just clean your sink.

Welcome to the thread. You are not alone by a long stretch. You will fit right in here Smile

AdoraBell · 06/08/2012 00:59

Hello Herbert

Welcome aboardSmile, as Carrots said, clean your sink first. Next I would tackle the main bedroom so you have a little haven to retreat to at the end of the day.

Yesterday I did 4 loads in the WM
Breakfast
Loaded DW & flicked switch
Swished & swiped bathrooms
Got 4 dogs washed with OH's help
Lunch
Made bed & tidied my room
Dinner

When DD2 exclaimed - how much laundry is thereShock ( after I'd done 4 loads) I told her - too bleeding much. They still stuff dirties in the bottom of the wardrobe and I'm currently ignoring, which means they both ran out of clothes.

Today other than emptying DW and breakfast I've done diddly squat. Will do some real cleaning tomorrow when DDs are at school.

carrotsandcelery · 06/08/2012 16:38

Adora when dd did that once too often I handed over repsonsibility for washing, drying and ironing to her. Wink

I now wash and dry for her but ironing is her own problem. Hopefully it will teach her to respect her stuff a bit more but if not then she will have to face her own pickle because of it.

I wouldn't do it to a younger child...

Afternoon everyone

This morning's Ta Da's chez Adora

Up and ready to get started, then realised it was only 3.30 so I got back into bed.
Up, again, at the right time this time
Brekkies, DD2 has started helping which is lovely
Assembled packed lunches & snacks
WM on
Ushered family out
My brekkies
Emptied DW
S&S 2 bathrooms
Cleared breakfast things away and into DW
Coffee
Fed dogs
Repotted a small tree that the poppies had uprooted and chewed
2nd & 3rd loads in WM
Vacuumed downstairs
Made tea

Still to do

Vacuum upstairs
Clean DD's bathroom
Run some errands
Eat some lunch
Collect DDs & friend's DCs
Bring clean washing in
Dinner
Tomorrow's packed lunches

I have a tip for anyone using an anti mold spray, if you have a cold don't absent mindedly open your mouth to breath as you squirt the liquid. It really burns when it bounces off the target and hits your tongue, and the taste is dreadfull. Also you'll feel like a right pillock standing with your tongue under the cold tap for 10 mins.

carrotsandcelery · 06/08/2012 17:48

I have:
put on a wash
loaded the dw
cleaned the worktops
swished the bathroom

mucked about on my bike in the street with the kids and shamed myself infront of all my neighbours Blush but also Grin

Vacuuming is all but done, just DD2's room to do. She's managed to get cotton wool fluff ground into the plain dark blue pure wool carpetAngry. I'm gaving a coffee before I tackle that, then a bubble bath.

Hello! My name is CamperWidow and I am a fallen FlyBaby!!

Grin

Gosh, I'm glad I got that off my chest!

Howdy all, hoping to get back into this as I wobbled and promptly fell off the wagon. Will be back later with a list, Muddles has just woke up!!!

CatsInChaos · 08/08/2012 10:44

Hi all, I'm another one who fell off the Flying wagon for various reasons. Trying to start again though with a few jobs here and there. Wink I don't feel it is completely possible to be mega tidy though while the DC are on Summer hols.

I have let the DC "take over" the living room with their toys and I will try to --sort some toys declutter in September all being well--
I am trying to keep the dining room tidy and bits of the rest of the house.

I have a workman round doing some work out side so no washing will be done till he has gone.

CatsInChaos · 08/08/2012 10:46

Welcome back Camper and welcome all newbies! Smile

CamperWidow · 08/08/2012 13:05

Oh Zoo!!!! Bless you. I can't think of any advice to offer you other than hang on in there! I had a really shouty day yesterday (both girls up at 5am for two days in a row! [shocked] ) and I made a promise to myself that I would wake up a better Mum. It's just so bloody hard though!!!!! They push buttons and boundaries, sometimes without even knowing it! Am not saying it's your fault, just sharing it's not just you and mine are only 2.11 and 0.10. Not looking forward to them getting much older and more argumentative. I had a full blown argument with Lol yesterday over whether a plant was honeysuckle or not. For crying out loud kid, I know it isn't......believe me......you shouting It Is Mommy at the top of your voice isn't going to change that fact!!!!

Kids, who'd have em?
