Who wants to join me for a school holiday fly thread?

carrotsandcelery · 08/07/2012 08:52

I am hoping to develop a new routine for the school holidays which gets me through the basics, encourages the dcs to do a bit, and leaves me plenty time to mumsnet play with the dcs.

Anyone who would like to join me please sign in below.

Ideas how to achieve this are also gratefully appreciated.

hung washing (two teddies)
Unloaded dw (with help for things which are high up) x 2
tidied up toys
fed guinea pigs

Dd:
hoovered (I had to do it again later)
dusting
unloaded dw
fed rabbits
fed visiting gerbils
tidied bedroom

cleaned kitchen table

Dh:
worked all day
cut grass
fed dogs
helped ds unload dw

Me:
hoovered again

Seems a reasonable division of labour and loads of time was left for playing Grin

Hello all!

I forgot to post yesterday but it was a similar list to the one above.

Dd won, with 10 pegs, yesterday.

Today, so far, I have cleaned the bathrooms (although I haven't wiped down the walls yet) and I have done a mountain of ironing.

I have been on a bit of a go slow. Luckily dh has been doing quite a bit so things haven't slipped too far. I don't want him to spend his week just doing housework though.

Ta Das:

washed and dressed
helped dd finish packing
took dd to camp
felt jealous
realised we had forgotten dd's bike
went home and got bike and took it up too
loaded wm
loaded dw (mostly done by dh)
cleaned worktops
hoovered
s&s bathroom
decluttered kitchen (not entirely done but much better)
cleaned kitchen table
hung up jackets that seemed to be all over the house

Hopefully things look much better.

Adora I hope the puppy is ok. Fingers are crossed for it.

thats it really..its very hot here and i get dizzy and irritable in the heat so planning chill and watch the zoolets play this pm

AdoraBell · 25/07/2012 18:29

Hi everyone

I'm cleaning my oven todayGrin, not so much a grin as gritted teeth.

Other Ta Da's include 4 loads in the WM, I did 4 yesterday- where is it all coming from?Confused, a bit of vacuuming and moping of the tiled floors. Puppy should be back (vet said midday and it's only 1.30, so far). I'm off to continue with the oven bits. Never seen any of oven cleaning bag things here so I'm doing it the old fashioned way.

carrotsandcelery · 27/07/2012 10:31

I don't seem to be doing a lot of flying this week. Dh is doing loads of it and we have been ignoring a lot of it. Blush The place is a tip and I have beads everywhere so can't comment to anyone else Blush Blush

On the plus side we have had a busy but lovely and relaxed week, if it is possible to put the two together. Grin

im soo angry with myself that all my routines seem to have disolved and we are in such a pickle again

i must stop ranting and make some lunch

carrotsandcelery · 30/07/2012 13:48

We have collapsed into a pile of dust and clutter and washing too zoo. Dh has gone back to work today and he "carried" me all of last week. Blush Now I have to load the dw etc all by myself again [sobbing]

AdoraBell · 30/07/2012 18:59

Zoo

Try not to be angry, especially with yourself, you've had a lot of time looking after ill DCs- and been ill yourself in the midst of it. It takes time to recover your energy, so be kind to yourself and Have some Thanks

AdoraBell · 31/07/2012 02:56

Back again,

Had a lovely bubble bath
Cleared garden- dogs, don't ask
School run
Long convo re quote for carpet
Home, brought last of the clean towels
Fed dogs, again
WM on
Forced DDs to hydrate (made them a drink and stood over them waiting for the empty glass)
Dinner
Hung washing
Cleaned stove
Emptied DW and reloaded with stove bits, flicked switch
Caught the end of men's hockey, Team GB v Argentina (couple of friends won't be too happy Wink
Forced DDs to take their clean clothes upstairs, we're instigating a points system on Wed.
Sent DD back downstairs to put away the things I'd told her about 3 times already- hence the point system.
DDs finale in bed, I'm having a cuppa before clearing the rest of the kitchen and doing tomorrow's lunches.

Ooh, women's volleyball has just started, GB v Algeria, the kitchen may have to whistle tonight.

carrotsandcelery · 31/07/2012 09:26

Hello all

We have fog and drizzle.

So, this morning's Ta Da's

Got up and removed stove things from DW to cook packed lunch. Yes, I was so behind last night that I cooked rice before starting breakfast today.
Breakfast for family
DDs emerged looking dreadful (not in a Kevin way), DD2 managed to eat before going back to bed, DD1 didn't.
WM on
Tea and toast for myself and OH
Let dogs out to see off something in the corner of the garden.
Emptied DW
Fed puppies, Floppy still has a delicate stomach so he's on chicken. I gave Houdini a little chicken to keep everyone happy. Still keeping everyone happy the big dogs got the fatty bits off last night's steak. Bloody Pirate lived up to her name, she nicked the steak out of Teddy Bear's bowlShock cheeky mare. So she got booted out and Teddy got my lunch a juicy piece of steak.

I was going to take all the recycling, but can't with DDs stuck in bed, so I think I'll just move it to the car. It's currently cluttering the hallway which kinda defeats the object.

liveinazoo · 31/07/2012 16:28

i woke up to it pouring down

AdoraBell · 31/07/2012 18:06

No Zoo it's not just you, mine would eat the cupboards most days if I didn't hold them back!

They are up and inspired now, having watched a bit of gymnastics. DD2 does does it in school so of course she's going to become an Olympic gymnast, natch. They are currently prancing around, I'm waiting for them to collpase.

Anyway, further Ta Da's

Copious amounts of toast for DD1, lunch is on the stove
Hung out washing.

I may get some shopping done depending on how DDs feel after lunch.

carrotsandcelery · 01/08/2012 08:31

Mine are eating the cupboards empty at speed to. Feeding everyone lunch or tea with several extras is expensive!
I did lots of dishes and table cleaning yesterday and didnt get far beyond that.
