I ended up writing ds's name on the sleeve of his pe kit t shirt as it kept going missing. Strangely noone has taken it since it has had his name emblazoned down the sleeve like some kind of logo Grin

educatingarti · 01/05/2012 15:36

bessie - having helped out in a reception PE lesson just a week or two into the September term, I can confirm that most of the lesson is about helping them learn how to get changed and leave their clothes in a state that means they can actually put them on again - no sleeves inside out and socks scrumpled into a ball!

DD was a star at the doctors! Grin . She just flinched a little bit and almost started crying but held it together nicely. She got a sticker and a sweet.

I need to go and sort dinner.

I hope I am behaving normally. I seem to burst out laughing at all sorts this week Hmm.

educatingarti · 01/05/2012 19:39

wd 40 is also quite good for getting biro/crayon off hard surfaces

CatsSleepAnywhere · 01/05/2012 20:18

Well done! on the Ta da's zoo.

She drew it with some felt tips from a fuzzy felt colorettes set. I think they are a bit different from your average felt tip.

If I can't get it off I might have to get a table cloth.
I will have another go at cleaning it tomorrow. At least I don't get many people come to my house. (family or friends)

I think her imms might have taken affect as she went to sleep not long after 7.00. She normally goes to sleep around 8.30.

educatingarti · 01/05/2012 20:23

WD40 is your friend Cats!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 01/05/2012 20:29

Are you sure you can use it on wood?

OP posts:
CatsSleepAnywhere · 01/05/2012 20:32

DH just tried it, but it didn't work. Shock

OP posts:
educatingarti · 01/05/2012 20:37

Is the wood varnished with polyurethane or just waxed?

CatsSleepAnywhere · 01/05/2012 20:39

DH says it's varnished, --I wouldn't have a clue--

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 01/05/2012 20:56

Is it dark or light wood Cats? I got permanent marker off our table using hob cleaner so I imagine Cif would do the same job. Our table is light though. I would be scared to try on dark wood.

Little Monkey! Grin

CatsSleepAnywhere · 01/05/2012 21:04

It's light wood. It's only a cheap table so not too cross about it but I would like to try and get it off. If not, I will get a table cloth. Grin

OP posts:
educatingarti · 01/05/2012 21:06

If it has a modern polyurethane type varnish you are probably OK trying some white spirits/methylated spirits/surgical spirits (from chemist). This gets permanent felt-tips off surfaces ( I use surgical spirit a lot when I have written on teaching games with permanent felt and want to get it off!). Try a small bit in an inconspicuous area (underneath the table top?) first though just to check!

If it is an old fashioned wax or varnish, you might have some joy with coloron ring remover?!

Alternatively, email/phone the manufacturer and ask what they would recommend. (You don't have to say WHAT DD drew!). My friend did this when her dd and 2 playmates smeared sudocreme all over the bedroom carpet and the manufacturers were most helpful!

Flylady mission Ok - I don't have dining room, but in the spirit of the task and zone I spent 15 minutes wiping down woodwork in hall and damp dusting a small set of shelves that is in the hall as well as the assorted bits of junk objets d'art it contains!
exercise

I have also written up one of today's lessons, spent 5 minutes starting to sort a random pile of paperwork on my desk and have FINALLY put together my woodgraining project ( which only took 15 minutes).

Now I am really tired!!
