April Fledglings Fly into Spring, Get That Clutter into the Bin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/03/2012 22:47

Welcome to the April 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Come and join us for a bit of chat and a lot of housework (or possibly the other way round).

A huge "thank you" to SanguineChompa for leading us through March

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat and support along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis. Feel free to browse the Flylady website as well, links below

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here and here!

All long-standing members, intermittent returnees, lurkers and newcomers welcome!!

Grin

Although going to take the lovely rude thoughts now embeded in my brain fb chat does have a purpose sometimes and head off to bed for interesting dreams instead.
has way too many bad influences in her life

elliepac · 18/04/2012 20:23

Shock bitchy Grin

thewaffler · 18/04/2012 21:08

OMG, how many posts?!! Have had to haul laptop out to catch up, trying to look at too much on my phone hurting eyes.

Lots to make me chortle re animal stories - swan are you turning into an animal sanctuary? Trying still contending with wee/shit incidents is see - did i read a couple of days ago you were getting a wee detector? I'm impressed let us know if it works, i had a friend who maintained that her 3 labs did not smell (they did) and absolutely never weed in the house - they did, i could smell it, so maybe i ought to buy her one Grin toffee pleased the dog walk has helped with ds, we've not had a break in the rain for the last couple of days, so hope you haven't got too wet, feet dead birds inside? gip gip gip gip, that would send me over the edge, would have to hide in room and instruct somebody to remove it, at least dead bird better then a live one?

I've not been at home today or yesterday, so flying is very very limited, however, because i haven't been here house isn't too bad.

bitchy I was aware that i was buying more than intended, but hadn't totted it up in my head, so was a bit shocked, I also got some established strawberry plants and 3 blueberry bushes which added to the cost - all plants and seeds are currently sat where i left them yesterday, re the seeds, i was faced with rows and rows of different varieties, stood and stared at them for a very long time, was quite overwhelming, so ended up grabbing and running. I tend to get very enthusiastic about buying things, but not so good at subsequently looking after them.

whoknows i am going back 4 days in May, Monday to Thursday when ds will be 8 months, i work at a university, so luckily i'm going back when its quiet and no students about, so can work from home quite a bit and hopefully have a nice slow introduction back to it until they return in October,

trying did you go shopping or online it? I can't wait to have a wage again so can actually buy something, enjoy your MaccyD's wine? Hmm

I decided that i wanted to get rid of a small filing cabinet in the front room a couple of weeks ago, that it was too office like and replace it with a toy box, the toy box replaced it, but the filing cabinet only made it across the room to next to the door and has remained there, in the way, until now. Shall attempt to start to look through contents whilst watching the Apprentice - did people see the 'shabby chic' 'union jack' items they tried to peddle last week?!

Tryingtogetairbourne · 18/04/2012 22:07

Bitchy bedtimes like ours I see. Strawberry icecream with chocolate digestives as pudding. I've never chatted on fb...why rude thoughts? [innocent] at least your early to bed!!

Ellie Grin at going ape.

Whoknows sooorrreeeeeyyyy!!! Each time I posted I did think of you...

thewaffler its a uv blacklight, think I may need to black out room to make it work? Its like they have in CSI to find finger prints/blood/jizz etc... or dog wee. Could be the dogs smell of wee...ddog1 does, and that was before ddog2 came along and started peeing on her head, charming manners he has.

I did no shopping online or off. Maybe tomorrow Hmm don't like shopping for clothes. MaccyD wine nice still but have held off on majority...had 2 glasses of white before dh came home. And my face started to go numb so decided to binge drink a bit more tomorrow.

I have lots of things that hang round waiting to be got rid of...

Can we run a book on who is last to bed tonight?

Bitchy 50/1 she's said she's already gone...
PA 2/1
Feet 2/1

Okay no money, but last one up does the recycling in the morning...seems to be a lot of wine bottles rolling about...Hmm Unless got up by a child...or insomnia...in which case we treat them to IV hot chocolate/coffee...

Night all!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/04/2012 22:40

Thanks Trying!

I'm confined to the iPad again tonight so not going to attempt a lengthy round up but I have noticed lots of animal talk, lots of swearing, lots of alcohol being drunk, oh and the odd reference to housework. So I am hereby declaring the naughty corner open.

Thank you to Juggling for liking my name BTW (see I have been paying attention).

Flying. I made a good start with my early Ta-da list and it was downhill a bit from there. I did change the sheets on the DCs bunkbeds, which is a gruelling task as they both keep 100s of books, teddies, Lego models, cushions you name it in their bed.

I also enjoyed my chicken and cashew stir fry thing, neither DC would so much as have it on their plate which was quite good as I got double helpings annoying, but DH strolled in just as we were about to eat which was unusually good timing.

Back in a minute with links

My money on last to bed is bitchy. at 50/1, i could win a fortuneGrin. Plus she has a terrible habit of saying she's going to bed and getting distracted and still being up at 4 in the morningGrin.

BlueEyeshadow · 18/04/2012 22:42

Waves to all.

Well done on your list Ellie!

Swan - chicken cacciatore is "the hunter's way" so presumably that's where the charcoal comes in - imagine cooked over a charcoal fire in the woods. Agree that it's stew though as I understand it, it has to have mushrooms in it.

I have done a rather half-hearted house bleugh, quite a lot of work and been to Zumba so feeling moderately virtuous. Need to go to bed now though. Night!

Shhhhhhhh Ellie Shock
You'd probably be right though. Am crackered. Sodding ex rang and wanted a lengthy chat HmmHmm

Erm Trying some of us don't have OH and have some very rude friends. Which like to lower the tone to the standards of the lovely TSA ladies and lower not that you'd think it was possible Any hows, had a very interesting chat with a good friend, we ended up discussing men. and that is as much as I intent to disclose on a sweet and innocent cleaning thread

Right, just off to click on a few links and be a bit less pissed off stupid bastard people who think after 9pm is a good time to call and keep calling then must sleep.

thanks to another mner

CarpeJugulum · 19/04/2012 06:04

Morning all.

DS up at 5.30am (improvement on 4.55 from yesterday) and DH has the "anytime after 5" role so he's up dealing with the wee man. Needless to say, I'm now also awake Hmm but am using the time to MNet wisely.

So, todays to-do:
Morning routine of S&S etc
Into local town to pick up bread & pie for dinner
DS to toddlers
Home, and DS for nap (hopefully!)
Lunch & WAH job for me
Then either playdate or trip to ASDA

Wow. I have such a rock and roll lifestyle. Ah well...

CarpeJugulum · 19/04/2012 06:22
PositiveAttitude · 19/04/2012 06:34

Oh, don't bet on me being the last to bed any night. You would lose it all. I am always the first to fall asleep on the sofa bed. A good investment would be to bet on me being the first up in the morning, although I think Carpe has beaten me this morning.
A very good nights sleep here, for once!

Day "off" today - so a day in the house, but I have a mountain of work to get through today. One set of accounts to audit, and 2 to get ready for someone else to audit. One of those is a total mess and its like unjumbling a mass of spaghetti to get it to make any sense. Confused

Not hanging around here today until I have sorted out this heap!

thewaffler · 19/04/2012 06:56

PA I always fall asleep on sofa, the one time this is guaranteed is during a DVD, or rather irritatingly, the cinema.

Did I tackle the filing cabinet? Of course not

Am I currently doing my exercises? No

Must do better today, I've bought a cd about how to be self disciplined to listen to and am expecting it work or else I want money back

[Brew] calls

Tryingtogetairbourne · 19/04/2012 07:55

I'm not hung over!! Didn't lay into wine...just was steady away. Now realise though that last night I opened a fresh bottle of white, nearly full, last night before dh brought home the vin rouge. So now have a bottle of white and vin rooge to drink Shock

Wine anyone?

Well done Whoknows! Fab summing up...I think you should continue as you do such a beautiful job and even add little tests too to see if we're listening Grin

bitchy

Carpe Asda...woo!

PA much sympathy and Brew

thewaffler We'll know CD works if we never hear from you again...

Rightio...

Tryingtogetairbourne · 19/04/2012 07:59
BitchyInTheCorner · 19/04/2012 08:35

I do not want to get up. I do not want to move. Ds needs taking to school and the bread for lunch is still frozen. My head hurts and today is going to be a write off. That is all.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 19/04/2012 08:55

Ooh, poor you Bitchy - I'm not hugely inspired this drizzily April morning either. What's up ?

< nicks the hot chocolate AirBourne made for feet Mmmmm, that's better Grin >

CarpeJugulum · 19/04/2012 09:01

Aww Bitchy have a {hug}

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/04/2012 09:04

Bitchy - You can go back to bed once he's at school.

No one should bet on me being first up either. I used to be a morning person till I had the DCs, now I am a night owl.

Another wet and miserable day here, although not as bad as yesterday. Need to get on with remnants of morning routine etc.

To do

DW, breakfast dishes
Sweep floor, wipe counters
Swipe bathroom (swish done earlier)
Hotspots
Take parcel to Post Office
Go to work
What's for dinner

Well, the DCs are supposed to have tennis after school but looking at the weather it's unlikely to go ahead, Assuming it does, they can have a quick bowl of pasta afterwards. DH is out straight from work so I might join them.

Also need to finish gardening club rota (only sorted first week yesterday, waiting for replies from other helpers), sort out some paperwork and do my OU.

Please apply the boot to my my bum about that one later, I am really getting behind.

Right, MNing time is up (only allowed till 9am). See you later.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 19/04/2012 09:08

Think I ought to have some sort of limit for time on here too ... good intentions !

swanthingafteranother · 19/04/2012 09:57

good morning Sad[rainy][lacking in energy]

very tired, after being woken by Dh in night to discuss work, he couldn't sleep

Children now have a s*ding project to make their own musical instruments...Confused Almost as bad as Pegasus wings. Luckily I don't have to do the project, just supply materials...but still another brain bender more enthusiasm required which is in short supply here Hmm

Still waiting to have coffee as can't mix meds and coffee and only just found the meds...

Mountains of tidying to do

Kittens being delightful though

done
one load of washing hung out
3 kids to school with dh help, homework completed

Whoknows chilli stir fry sounds delicious
Bitchy I am impressed by your monster beans. I hate being rung after 9pm now too.
Ellie glad caravan revived

CarpeJugulum · 19/04/2012 13:01

Oh fuckity fuckity fuckity fuckity fuckity fuckity fuck.

I need a urine sample from DS. I have one of those bags that fits over the "relevant area" (as identified on the packaging Grin) so why does he not pee in it?! Tried 3 times now and have a damp bag, and a full nappy on each occasion.

Have now resorted to micropore tape to hold it in place while he naps. Blush if that doesn't work - I'm in for an afternoon of nappy less running about and trying to catch it in a jug

Tryingtogetairbourne · 19/04/2012 13:19

Carpe lots of squash? Good luck catching it...hope he's okay

Had good excuse for being late to school this morning...dd1 got bitten by mouse. Anyone got a better one?

Dd2 clinging to me all day so can't get anything done. Try to do the washing, dd2 joins in, wants water run, its cold so washing with cold water Hmm water everywhere...no washing done...didn't want to join in getting bedding, managed to do that one...got my lunch done together, then complaining and asking over and over for her's while she sat at table waiting for all of 2 minutes for it...driving me crackers. 1pm and done bugger all. Bribery by way of peppa pig is not working as usual Hmm.

Got dd2 settled in front of peppa (finally) and playing with DS (double distraction for her active little mind and hands), going to sneak into the kitchen and wipe table and wash up. its like wading in treacle today...oh and clean litter tray!!!
