April Fledglings Fly into Spring, Get That Clutter into the Bin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/03/2012 22:47

Welcome to the April 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Come and join us for a bit of chat and a lot of housework (or possibly the other way round).

A huge "thank you" to SanguineChompa for leading us through March

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat and support along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis. Feel free to browse the Flylady website as well, links below

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here and here!

All long-standing members, intermittent returnees, lurkers and newcomers welcome!!

Tryingtogetairbourne · 18/04/2012 13:08

Toffee good luck. :) hope ds1 enjoys...hope ds1 is distracted enough to go a bit further than usual :)

feetheart · 18/04/2012 13:12

Trying - I was thinking more about revenge than irony :o

Toffee - hope you and DS1 and borrowed dog get a bit further than yesterday

swanthingafteranother · 18/04/2012 13:40

I've just walked the dog! Grin Lovely windy, rainy BIG park which involved driving so have achieved my "Have a Go" quota for the day.
Although I was brought sharply to my senses by one dog owner saying So, what do you want the dog to do, bring you a cup of tea? [ I think I was hovering rather uselessly, saying dog's name over and over, with no clear command Blush The dog has got alarmingly big and bouncy so I was worried that he was going to squash someone's beagle puppy. It appears that anxiety/fluffing around is not permitted in dog owning society Grin - an excellent lesson.

Trying that sounds like me, I seem to get no further than the first task, but at least tomorrow that task is achieved, so you can go onto the second...ifysim

There's all this food in the fridge, but my mind has gone utterly blank as to what I should can be bothered to do with it.. will get back to you later on that.

ToffeeWhirl · 18/04/2012 13:43

Walking the dog was a huge success! DS1 chatted happily to the dog's owner (smiling and making eye contact ), then happily took the dog all round the block. He would have gone further, but because we walked near the dog's home, he thought it was time to go back and wouldn't budge until we took him home. This means we will have to walk him further away tomorrow, thus drawing DS1 well out of his usual comfort zone. Hurray! The dog was a sweetheart - very loving and obedient.

Tryingtogetairbourne · 18/04/2012 14:02

Toffee fantastic!! The dog project is looking good. Suggest you ask dog owner where she got her dog from...breeder may have some more like that one...!

Swan where does your dog go? Must have missed the post containing that info! Dog won't squash them...beadles very sturdy...people often concern themselves about ddog1 as a little terrier around their big dog, but it does her good to get squashed on a regular basis Grin. They learn to get out of the way. I usually take mine for an hour long walk, I take them to two regular places and I know what distance to walk, makes you look purposeful but when no one is around I often sit down and watch dogs play rather than walk! Take a toy next time or one of those ball flingers.

Just had a first here...a 3 way dog and cat fight!! Dogs fighting (not hurting but very intense and nasty sounding) cat then joined in?!?!? Stopped the dog fight, then stalked towards ddog2 who clapped tail between legs and cried! Bless. Think cat has ddog2 cornered in hall...best go rescue...

Done
bedding (just ours to do now) in wash
hoovering done!!

To Do
Shower
DW
Tidy away everything and grocerys
Put mouse back in dd1 bedroom
rescue ddog2

Whoknows how are you doing? Decided tea yet? Do you really have more than one dh?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/04/2012 14:50

Trying, one's enough thank you, not sure where that S came from! We are having crispy fried chilli chicken with cashew nuts for tea. My usual policy when I get too pissed off with trying to work round the rest of them is to just cook something I like and stuff them all.

Toffee - well done DS1. Bodes well for when you become dog owners yourselves. Arf at "media studies" might do some of that later myself. If I watch The Apprentice that would also be Business Studies.

I am just having to pinch myself. When we made our wills last year the solicitor told us to get our life assurance policies that we took out years ago put in trust. Of course we had lost all the documents long since, I have been putting off making the call to the insurers as I thought I would get passed from call centre to call centre, tutted at for not having the docs, generally fobbed off and charged a lot of money. So just now I made one phone call, no hanging on the line, got straight through to a very helpful man who just took a few details and promised to sort it all out at no charge whatsoever. Makes a nice change!

That is lucky whoknows

Grin for toffee's ds1. fabulous.

Feet did you take revenge in the end

Glad you survived Carp

No nap here. Council person decided that slot was perfect for running loud mower and strimer around. 15mins lie quiet and be instead with 15mins crochet through the din. Must shoot off and get ds so not late. Sooooo tired. Suspect PA and feet are in no better state either. More Brew anyone?

Shit is that the time.

Must. be. gone. Blush

sanguinechompa · 18/04/2012 15:44

Sorry - no time for any more personals. Minor miracle has occurred. DD has finished her hwk for Thurs and Fri and it is only 4.35 pm on Wed afternoon (dc don't go to school here on wed pms) Can't believe it!!

We are now going to make chicken cacciatore together.

Only blip on horizon is I have to make Pegasus wings by Friday? Arrrggh?? Any ideas???

Huge waves to everyone else!!

Tryingtogetairbourne · 18/04/2012 16:07

Whoknows, nice sounding tea, can you put some out for us to try? Amazing re docs...I put of paperwork like that forever too...

Bitchy get there in time?

Got to go and 'tut' some carrot up...arguing going on round me.... Ddog1 snaffled dd2's scone because she put it on sofa...que hysterics...

dd1 going to use peeler on carrot now...best go see to that...!

swanthingafteranother · 18/04/2012 16:22

Trying SC I told dh that I was cooking chicken cacciatore last week on holiday only to be told it was impossible as it was a speciality of small Italian restaurants and involved a lot of crushed peppercorns and charcoal (therefore not possible in wilds of Westmeath) - I thought it was somethign with white wine and tomatoes in a sort of stew - so I'm interested in your answer.
In fact I am going to attempt some sort of chicken stew with ds1 this evening.

Toffee glad that went well.

All quite relaxed here now, kittens playing and purring again, dog has gone for today, homemade icelollies enjoyed

Feet be strong with your authorized absence - the no of "good" parents who take au ab at our school would make your hair curl, and the HT seems to have an "official" line and an unofficial Wink Especially if your dd has put up with so much from the teacher changeover.

swanthingafteranother · 18/04/2012 16:24

well I've just googled chicken cacciatore and it is definitely stew, don't know what dh was on about (he is an Italian food snob, and hates stew in any form)

CarpeJugulum · 18/04/2012 19:06

Well, DH is reading to DS before he goes into his cot, and I have a glass of Wine and am lying on the bed (our room is downstairs) flagging. Oven is on to stick dinner (pasta bake) in.

Been one of those days as DH went back to work, and it was the first day without GP's so DS spent most of the day being a grumpy little sod boy. Not unexpected, but bloody tiring; especially as he had a nuclear meltdown when I tried to get him dressed to go to the supermarket and then the park Shock Finally gave in and we stopped in. Suspect he is overtired having had so many people about and just wanted to chill.

Toddlers tomorrow though, so we'll see how that goes! maybe he'll actually nap properly after it - apart from the not being able to nap for long as otherwise his bedtime is screwed Confused

Ah well, tomorrow is another day - this too shall pass! Grin

Tryingtogetairbourne · 18/04/2012 19:42

oh dear oh dear oh dear...

Back story:
Dh in family business, they did another business a favour and by way of thankyou gave a nice bottle of wine, a very nice bottle of vintage 2001 vin rouge.

It is double ordinary size 150ml...enormous bottle...dh suggested to his mother that he have it all or they halve it...she decided to halve and just given him the half bottle, sacrilege! It now has to be drunk before it turns to vinegar!!...he drives on an evening to work...he can't drink til saturday...DOH!!! She knows this so um...well I have stepped into the breach to drink it. It has an aftertaste of a Big Mac. Dh not impressed. Apparently vintage wine should not taste of MaccyD's....

So I would appreciate it tomorrow if hushed tones are used...

Thank you. And goodnight.

elliepac · 18/04/2012 19:43
