April Fledglings Fly into Spring, Get That Clutter into the Bin

Welcome to the April 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Come and join us for a bit of chat and a lot of housework (or possibly the other way round).

A huge "thank you" to SanguineChompa for leading us through March

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat and support along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis. Feel free to browse the Flylady website as well, links below

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here and here!

All long-standing members, intermittent returnees, lurkers and newcomers welcome!!

Me first! Me first!

[SC falls over broom handle in rush to claim her seat in the naughty corner be prepared for Sunday]

Thanks for shiny new thread Whoknows!!

droitwichmummy · 29/03/2012 23:14

Hello! I didn't post much in March but I did make progress. I can see the floor in the lounge and the spare room is usable so I am calling last month a good one.
No work for me next week so will really get on on with blitzing the rest now that the worst room is well on the way.
Off to put some big cushions in the naughty corner Wink

ToffeeWhirl · 29/03/2012 23:49

Thanks for brilliant thread leadership last month, SC, and apologies for being such a failing fledgling. Flying seems to have fallen down my list of priorities.

WhoKnows - thanks for starting up this new thread. Great thread title - I'm sure I could chuck everything into the bin and never miss a thing.

LinzerTorte · 30/03/2012 04:55

Thanks for the new thread WhoKnows and for all your hard work in leading us through March SC - much appreciated, even if I didn't do quite as much FLYing as I should have done. Blush

I hope to keep up better this month...

PositiveAttitude · 30/03/2012 05:52

Posting from the boat taking me to our weekend training. I will be back on Tuesday, so see you all then. Smile

Honu · 30/03/2012 06:23

Signing in. Thanks for last month SC. Glad I joined this thread - so lovely and friendly. Places Danish pastries in naughty corner and considers whether an expresso machine would be a good investment.

elliepac · 30/03/2012 06:36

Signing in for another month of abject failureGrin. Massive thanks to sc for being brilliant as usualSmile and massive thanks to whoknows for taking over the reinsSmile.

Better get moving!

MummyNickleby · 30/03/2012 06:53

Just booking my slot... Rubbish bags at the ready to start decluttering now I know how to baby step but frequently forgets Grin

MummyNickleby · 30/03/2012 06:56

Well done SC for being such a great guide last month and thank you whoknows for taking on such an important role for us messy buggers in CHAOS Grin

BelinaTheChicken · 30/03/2012 07:15

Ooh can I join?I went on a thread last month, but then gave up when I started back at work. Have managed to keep the bits of the house people see looking halfway decent, but need a kick up the arse to start again.

NickNacks · 30/03/2012 07:27

I'll creep back in and slump in the naughty corner if that's ok? Just had the most hellish 6 weeks and FLYing has taken a back seat.

Hi oldies!!!

Welcome newbies!!!!

:):)

Lifebeginsatforty · 30/03/2012 09:06

Hi. I'm still here, really need the beginning of the new month to get me kick-started again. House looking very messy.

I think I must be a nutcase. I am now not just on my Nursery Committee, I have agreed to be Co-Chair Shock. I really think I have bitten off more than I can chew as I was struggling with the list of tasks I had before. So I must get regimented more organised with exact activities laid out for each day, including time with the DC. Off to look for filo-fax which was supposed to be my Control Journal but never quite got off the ground.

Welcome back NickNacks. Sorry to hear you've been having bad time Sad. Hope things turn around for you.

Thank you SC for Marchs' thread. And thank you Whoknows for April.

CarpeJugulum · 30/03/2012 09:13

Signing in.

Name changer who flew off in February and March and have got out of the habits due to issues with DS, colds, and general RL crap although my sink is still as shiny as white enamel will go!

I have the home routines app, and it is good, but it doesn't chastise you like a thread of Flyers when you've posted a list and then nesbitted the day away.

So, back to it for this month.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/03/2012 09:19

Yes yes yes to Espresso machine Honu!

Nicknacks - sorry to hear that, hope things are on the up now.

Good to see so many people coming back after time off the thread. I also need a kick start again, hence volunteering to take over, much to my shame I don't think I've actually clicked on a single link on the previous thread < sufficiently experienced not to need them anymore in denial>

helloooooooooo!!!!! house is being sidetracked to the garden, (which is tidy and clutter free-apart from the shed but im leaving that for the bf) need to do the baby steps again, and house is getting a quick go through to start april on a good footing (providing 3 boys dont trash it too much !!!!) so i need a good boot up the bum this morning so i dont procastrinate on mn, any shoe size welcome :)

GossipWitch · 30/03/2012 09:40

Whhooooppps just set fire to my cigarette pot out side!!!

sanguinechompa · 30/03/2012 13:34

Gosh, great to see so many fledglings - old-timers and newcomers - in the nest ready and waiting ...

And thanks for all the thanks. It really was my pleasure - and v. enjoyable.

(And - speaking very selfishly - it got me back on track after a bit of a slump!)

Smile

Hope you are OK Nicknacks

sanguinechompa · 30/03/2012 13:36

[Douses Gossipwitch's cigarette pot with purple puddle]

sanguinechompa · 30/03/2012 13:39

Or should that be dowses?? Confused

Shannaratiger · 30/03/2012 13:44

Old-timer creeping back! I've tried to keep organised without Flying but completely can't do it. So need to put my To-do list on here to give me a kick to actualy remember and do what's needed. Blush

GossipWitch · 30/03/2012 14:37

ive cleaned and mopped downstairs and decluttered under the coffee table and my sink is shiny :)

NeedToDeClutter · 30/03/2012 15:45

Hi all, Do you have room for another "newbie"?

As my name suggests I need to sort through lots of stuff to get more organised.
Not quite sure if now is a good time though as the DC will be off school for 2 weeks. I am willing to try though. Smile

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/03/2012 17:58

Always room for another person on this thread, come on in.

BlueEyeshadow · 30/03/2012 19:09

Waves to all oldies and newbies alike. Definitely yes to the espresso machine Honu !

Douses I think SC. Dowses would be looking for it with a hazel twig, n'est ce pas?

swanthingafteranother · 30/03/2012 19:14

whoknows from March, sometimes it is uphill struggle to do simplest errands (although I think dentist does take it out of you anyway, one way or another) with whingy dcs in tow; I like the principle of non-choc Easter egg hunt Smile
Garden is so dry, but there is that hosepipe ban. This when I need an inventor in the house to siphon off my grey water from upstairs - I suppose that is allowed isn't it? Or does the waterboard need the water from the drains too?
