Hope to be back from 12.30 for lunchtime. Smile

Will probably require a pointy stick after lunch to get me going. Wink

CatsSleepAnywhere · 21/03/2012 12:51

I am lurking but still need to do one or two lunchtime things. DD has delayed us somewhat by having a potty training accident. Blush

CatsSleepAnywhere · 21/03/2012 13:57

Hi carrots how did it go?

CamperWidow · 21/03/2012 14:49

Ok, so I have just made the cheesy corn thingies and they are lush!!!!! Lollipop is resisting the deliciousness, but that's just cus she's just woken up and is always a grump first thing! I managed to make lots of little ones as I thought they'd be a better size for Lol.
Firm family favourite now!!!! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 21/03/2012 16:06

I will have to try that one too Camper as it did sound lovely.

Sorry I didn't reply Cats. The bus must have lost its internet connection as we left the city. I am just experimenting with getting Mumsnet on my phone. Dh chose that particular phone for me as he thought I could chat while I was waiting outside activities.

The psychologist went well. She was very keen to point out that it is not our fault that ds is as he is and that we are doing a good job trying to support him. I am not stealth boasting btw. It is not a great feeling to have to take your son to a psychologist and it means a lot when someone tells you you are doing the right thing by them. Grin

We didn't really tackle the social skills today. We are being offered the chance to have him tested further as this was just a preliminary test. He show some traits which could be linked with autism and aspergers but also traits which aren't linked with either of those conditions so they are a bit Confused They were suggesting taking him in and working with him to see what they thought themselves.

Today we worked on calming panic attacks, outbursts of anger and frustration and methods for keeping his environment calm for him. We spent most of the time working on his sleep pattern though (nothing new there).

The time change is coming up and there is concern that could muck up a plan that is rolling along quite nicely for now.

We are also going to velcro his blackout blind right onto his window frame so no light can creep in during the bright mornings over summer.

bessie26 · 21/03/2012 16:28

mmmm cheesy corn cakes

I've got to get ready to pick DD1 up from pre-school in a min, but have been keeping busy today, mainly sorting out clothes for me to wear to a wedding in a couple of weeks & digging out some summer stuff for the DDs.

Glad everything went well today carrots. I had forgotten about the clocks changing - is it this weekend?

bessie26 · 21/03/2012 16:30

i forgot i hadnt got dd2 in for dinner and opened a large can of beans to go with some chips and vegetable fingers for the kidsConfused

i had chopped some courgette, onion and peppers to roast while the chips were in the oven

when they were tender i stirred in to the excess baked beans with a grind of black pepper.was surprisingly delicious.next time i will have with rice or couscous so has complete protein thoughSmile

liveinazoo · 21/03/2012 20:19

bessie they sound delicious, though im not sure little zoo would eat the salsa...do you serve as a light meal for little ones or bulk it up with something else as a main for them

i will definately give them a go as we dont eat a lot of eggs and i know they are a good source lots vitamins etc when meat isnt eaten

i am now going to bed due to silly oclock start

hope everyone gets a good nights sleep.x

I'm here. Keeping a low profile -- I've been a bad flyer today. Blush

Toddler and I went to our HE group meet-up this afternoon (TS was the youngest today -- sometimes there's one younger than him but who will be in his school year group) and had a good time. He loves his "big kid friends" and really tries to join in with their activities and games. He's lucky that most of the big kids love him, too, and play with him/try to help him/talk to him. Toddler left out-of-breath, thirsty and sweaty so definitely had a good time!

Teeth are still bothering Toddler so we seem to be spending a lot of time cuddling and watching his two favorite programs. Blush I hate how much tv he's having but at the same time I know when he feels better he won't want/need it. We trained taught him young that if the tv goes on he should sit with one of us so I rarely plop him in front of the tv alone (and if I do he will often come looking for me). It does mean, though, that I'm not getting on with things but spending my time with Toddler. He's only little once and he's really struggling with the molars (the other teeth were, more or less, a non-issue and after a couple of days of being 24/7 attached to Paci were through) so I'd rather spend my time trying to ease his discomfort (and sometimes just sitting on me with his cheek on my chest seems to make him calmer).

It's swimming day tomorrow, so TS and I will see our friends. And in the afternoon we're going to meet a friend for coffee in town. Grin It will be a very social day for us.

carrotsandcelery · 21/03/2012 21:00

Scout I spent hours with a child attached to me when they were that age. There is no substitute for quiet cuddles sometimes.

The main calming technique for ds when he is having a panic attack or when his anger or frustration are bubbling over is to hold him gently but firmly and hug him.

Hugs are quite magical imo.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 21/03/2012 21:07

Hi all, I have been watching telly since about 7.00. couldn't do much else.
Thank god I have got DH here to help and he is off till Monday now.
