We went to town. Got stuff for dinner (there's no way TS would have done a complete shop so will have to go tonight), took a bag for donation (had two but couldn't only carry one) and went to Boots to collect pills. I need the get-up-and-go to make TS's dinner.

carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2012 18:45

Evening everyone!

We have drummed and been to the vet. Poor Twilight has a fungal infection in her ear, probably brought on by the stress of moving house. Poor girl. She seems to LOVE her vet though so that was good to see.

I have cleaned up the trashing of the kitchen, put the dw on again and cleaned the worktops again so it looks a bit more civilised. You would never know I hoovered the hallway earlier though. It is muddy and hairy all over again Hmm I even shampooed some bits of the carpet earlier but you would never know it now.

I still need to fold dry laundry and hang the load that is in the wm but I needed a breather or I would burn out.

BlackCat Envy the mars bar. I am really hungry and was hoping I could eat with dh tonight but it is not looking likely now. I am waiting for dd to be dropped off and don't want to be mid tea when that happens and then I have to collect dd's friend.

zoo my dh is more your steady reliable sort than the romantic sort. Most of the time that suits me fine but the odd little (nice) surprise would be great Grin

carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2012 18:47

Whoa! I thought I had cross posted there but hadn't realised the posts went over the page.

Dh's card is written ( but that only happened at 3ish this pm - I thought it was just me who did things at the last moment).

BlackCatTryingToFly · 14/02/2012 19:09

Evening all, We had a thrown together tea of pasta with tinned tomatoes and cheese. It was quite nice! but again the DC weren't keen. so will have to have some pudding. (don't like sending them to bed hungry).

The kitchen is once again trashed. Hope I have enough energy to do a bit more Hmm.
I am feeling a slight improvement in energy since starting on the iron again.

We have given a card for each other and bought each other chocolate.Smile

bessie26 · 14/02/2012 19:15

I very hurridly wrote DHs card while he was brushing his teeth last night,

scout you must take a couple of bags of stuff to the charity shop every week? I am very impressed!

I cleaned the bath & shower when I had a shower this afternoon. (I thought I'd better not spend valentines day evening in the bath!) I had a look at the missions and all I have left to do is wipe the fingerprints off the doors. Am not sure whether to spend any spare time I have this week doing more cleaning in the bathroom (the blind needs wiping ) or tackle something else...

DH didn't seem particularly excited by my chocolate muffins. Oh well! He nipped up to the supermarket while the DDs finished their tea, so he can go out for pizza once they are in bed.

carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2012 19:21

Aww bessie I thought the muffins were a lovely idea. I am obviously not of the male variety though

carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2012 19:22

zoo the quaker oats feedback thread has started - if you comment you get entered into the prize draw.

bessie26 · 14/02/2012 19:32

Wow blackcat that's great you are feeling a bit better already! Grin

bessie26 · 14/02/2012 19:38

carrots I don't think DH realised they were for his benefit, despite DD1 telling him as soon as he walked through the door that I had made them for him!

They weren't great anyway. The recipe made 6 muffins, but only had 1tbsp cocoa in. That didn't seem like much to me, but I'd never made them before, so thought I would obey the recipe!

Scout19075 · 14/02/2012 19:53

Blush Thanks. I hadn't thought of the shops boosting their funds, I was just happy to get it out. Grin Usually the bags are carrier bags or the slightly larger than carrier bag size charity donation bags. It feels good getting it out of my house. All sorts of random stuff. It's rarely ever packed up well so could probably fit things in/have less bags if I took the time/energy to do it. I do, also, have to be careful how and when I take things out (yes, MrScout, I'm thanking you for that).

My unromantic dinner is ready so be back in a bit.

carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2012 20:52

Our romantic dinner ended up being a 15 minute wolf it down between dd being dropped off and going out to pick up dd's friend. I drove up the hill with indigestion.

I was rewarded though as dd's friend had made us a lovely pudding to take away with us. It is in the oven now. Such a lovely gesture Smile

Dh nearly cried when he saw his cake. He had a rubbish day at work and hates dd having sleepovers (finds it hard to relax totally) and then when he saw it he nearly started to blub and said we (ds and I) had made his day.

I am so glad I bothered. Smile

Scout my dmum volunteers in a charity shop and they are always grateful for donations. You will be helping out many more people than yourself as the people who shop there will also be grateful that they can buy something at a reasonable price. Smiles all round Smile

Now... how long do you think a pudding takes in the oven???? [impatient and greedy}

carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2012 21:33

Oh well... romance is out of the window. Dd and her friend are having a Just Dance fest in with us in the kitchen. It is a great laugh but not smoochy. Hey ho! Grin

Scout19075 · 14/02/2012 22:26

That sounds like fun, carrots. Our "romance" involved sausage & mash dinner, watching depressing television and I just went to the grocery store for the weekly shop (and put it away).

Dlamis · 14/02/2012 22:31

Wow you ladies have been chatty. I've spent the afternoon decorating heart shaped biscuits that when in the oven heart shaped and came out round, whoops, and tidying the kids stuff in the lounge. I am going to seriously have to ebay some stuff soon. Trouble is ds1 is indicating he has inherited hoarding tendancies from his mum and dad.

carrot is right about charity shops, I worked in one years ago and we were grateful for anything/everything. Even stuff we couldn't put in the shop you'd be amazed at some of the skanky stuff we used to get, rubber gloves needed we could sell on to a rag man or carboot/market stall seller.

aww bless at carrots dh nearly blubbing :)

I have decluttered wine and chocs tonight. :o

carrotsandcelery · 14/02/2012 22:40

Dlamis dh has spoiled it a bit by being grumpy about the girls having a laugh. He never had a sleepover or similar when he was a ds and just doesn't get it. He has had a rubbish day though so I am not going to get stroppy.

We were a bit Shock as we both wrote messages with almost exactly the same sentiments in them for Valentines. How bizarre! It has cheered him up again anyway Grin

I have done that with biscuits before Dlamis. Some dough seems to keep its shape and some just goes mad. It is probably too late now but you could "save" them by icing hearts onto them.

Scout19075 · 14/02/2012 22:53

I have just ordered MrScout's Father's Day present. Grin Now to go order the crafts for Seniors next week....

Dlamis · 14/02/2012 22:55

lol *carrots, sounds like something my dh would do.

Too late for the biscuits, they were eaten hours ago :o

bessie26 · 14/02/2012 23:11

Oooh scout what have you got for Father's Day? Isn't it in June?

We had a wonderful romantic evening. The take-away DH promised didn't happen because strangely the restaurants were too busy serving their customers to cook any take-away food (he hadn't phoned to check) So DH cooked pasta. Then I cleaned the hob. And drank half a bottle of wine. He watched TV while I ordered some Ecover fabric conditioner & dishwasher tablets! And did a couple of loads through the WM/TD

carrots am impressed you wrote soppy messages in your cards! I just wrote "love from Bessie"!

I'm swimming with DD2 in the morning so I'll see you all after lunch. Arse. Have just realised I have no idea what that's going to be!

Scout19075 · 14/02/2012 23:33

Oh cr@p. MrScout has seen the bag of donations in the car and has just given me the third degree.

bessie26 · 15/02/2012 02:28

Eeek, hope you survived the interrogation?!

I'm up with this stupid bloddy cough again. I've just decluttered some ice-cream in the hope that it would help.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 15/02/2012 05:49

Morning all,

Hope you got some sleep bessie.

I had the best nights sleep I've had for a week. went to bed at 10.00pm and woke up at 5.00am, without either of the DC waking in between, Grin YAY!!

I feel like I want to get started on everything but don't know if that's just the coffee talking Hmm.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 15/02/2012 06:25

I did, bessie, but I think I'm going to have to bring the bag in and live with the specific things he's mentioned for a bit longer. I want to know why he was going into the boot of the car at 11:30 at night?!

Did you get some sleep, bessie?

Good morning, BlackCat.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 15/02/2012 06:48

Morning Scout, That must make it hard for you to declutter although you sound like you have been doing very well so far!

I'm afraid I'm the hoarder in our house, this might be why I've found it hard to get going on the decluttering. I need to get over the keeping things "just in case".Blush
Maybe the counselling will help to sort me out as it all could be emotion related.
