Welcome to the February edition of the Fledgling Flyers' thread.

If you're living in CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome), this is the thread for you! We follow the tips on the FlyLady website in an attempt to restore order to our homes, but advise against signing up for the e-mails; all the information you need is on this thread.

Each day, I'll be posting the links that will enable you to do any of the following:

  • start or repeat babysteps
  • repeat babysteps and do 15 minutes a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More information about the babysteps is here.

So please join us - there's always plenty of chat, Brew, cake, encouragement and the occasional Wine to help us on our way!

SC well H of Y has a beard, not sure whether that disqualifies him as mumsnetter Wink

Today I've been to the doctor again, and she has decided after blood test results I have probably got a condition where the autoimmune system attacks the thyroid! Hence depression, tiredness, joint pain. She has referred me to an endocrinologist! So much for CBT if there is a chemical cause for all my panicky feelings/low mood etc/extreme tiredness. Feel much better as a result of finding something concrete to account for life's troubles Grin and hope it can be easily treated with thyroxine.

done
walked my borrowed dog who is here for the day. Lots of muddy playing with other dogs and chats with owners.
Ds1 is still at home with sprained wrist, but he absolutely hates and fears dogs so he is hiding in his bedroom (one of reasons why I thought it would be nice to slowly introduce a dog to family by borrowing one)

Well I suppose I had better
reload dw
sort away washing (if dog can let me out of the kitchen without getting upset)
look up garden landscaping services to deal with lawn problem
hoover our bedroom

hi all, have done bare minimum to keep house clean today. DW unstacked/restacked, breakfast, showered, dressed, dogs walked, laundry on.

Bathroom swished.

Cant do much more as decorator here, so dining room and lounge out of bounds.

Have tidied upstairs as much as I can.

sanguinechompa · 29/02/2012 17:40

Swan crikey - sorry to hear about your diagnosis - but as you say, good that there is something concrete to focus on and treat ... Hope they get to the bottom of it quickly and that you start to feel better soon. Good luck with borrowed dog too!!

Jax you have accomplished more than I have done today ie sod all. Well done. Here's to a productive March ...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/02/2012 18:37

Swan - well, that's a turn up for you isn't it? Hope you get to see the endocrinologist quickly.

Not much done here today, although I have tackled a few more grot spots with my magic eraser and some Magic Power foam stuff I bought with it. There are tiles behind our cooker that have always looked grotty in the grouting no matter what I have cleaned them with and they are looking much better tonight (I have gone completely off zone today and done that and the landing windowsill whilst ignoring the lounge totally).

Bitchy - I haven't posted for a few days but your posts about eating and control have been interesting. I eat too much when I am stressed, not binging exactly but I can see how it starts.

Ellie - nice to see you, I guess you were here all month under a namechange?!

I'm going to take myself off to the naughty bar next month's thread now, evening all.

LinzerTorte · 29/02/2012 18:46

Busy day (yet again) here today, with the dentist's, DD1's first lesson with her maths tutor and DD2's ballet lesson to fit in this afternoon. DD2 had to have a tooth out (her first two permanent teeth appeared behind her milk teeth and the second milk tooth just wouldn't budge), but was very brave about it - far braver than I was! I couldn't even watch her having the injection. Blush

Jax It sounds like you've managed to get far more done than I have today as well. Bet you've done more than me too, SC.

swan Good to hear that you've got a diagnosis. It often seems to be difficult to pin down the reason(s) behind depression and tiredness, but hopefully they'll be easier to treat now that you know what's causing your problems.

Bitchy Ah, I assumed your pain was from your wisdom teeth. Well done for getting checked out, anyway; I am being a terrible procrastinator atm, and really must make appointments with the doctor (painful arm - I'm wondering whether it's RSI), orthopaedic specialist (painful knee) and dermatologist (six-month skin check long overdue).

Now time for my fortnightly panic tidy before the cleaner comes first thing tomorrow.

WhoKnows I also eat too much when I'm feeling stressed. I have absolutely no idea why, as it doesn't make me feel any better - not even temporarily (not even while I'm eating).

Ta da list:
ring school
washing - multiple loads of
make cottage pie for tea
make lemon, coffee and
collect washing downstairs
survive having ds home
fold washing
consider life plan some more

I am currently pairing socks and just about to pop out to pick up the sugar to sort out the remaining cake that need to get sorted.

elliepac · 29/02/2012 21:05

That's exactly right whoknows, not telling you what that cunning namechange was thoughWinkGrin.

ToffeeWhirl · 29/02/2012 21:36

Swan - so glad to hear that you have a possible answer to your tiredness, etc. Let's hope there's an easy solution.

Linzer - that sounds like a traumatic day for DD and you! I am not very good with teeth issues and won't go near wobbly teeth in my DC. Hope your panic cleaning doesn't take too long tonight.

WhoKnows - sounds like you are getting as obsessed with the MagicEraser as my DH. I think he uses it as some kind of therapy.

Jax - it's stressful having decorators in, but hope it all looks lovely when they've finished.

Oh, now DS2 is yelling for me again . Waves to everyone else.

BlueEyeshadow · 29/02/2012 21:40

I don't seem to have got very much done today, but the excess sofa is now gone and I have finally hoovered the sitting room! Now just got 2 armchairs and 2 kitchen-type chairs to go... I've also been to Zumba tonight so tired but feeling good!

And I've just arranged for DS2 to have some extra time at the CM's on Fri so I can get some work done and maybe also catch up with some Flying...

swan - interesting timing: apparently it's Rare Disease Day today... I hope you can get treatment quickly.

Waves to all. See you on the new thread and Thanks to Linzer for this one!

swanthingafteranother · 29/02/2012 22:00

Blue LOL at Rare Disease Day! Glad the sofa went Grin

better go

sanguinechompa · 01/03/2012 19:59
