I'm cancelling because they aren't as good as they were. I've had to request so many refunds in the last 2/3 months because of things being packed badly - things like lasagne on it's side so it all goes in a heap at one side of the tray, cream not wrapped in a bag so if it gets knocked it goes over everything else in the bag. Best before dates have started to get shorter as well, everything needs using in the first 2 days.
My biggest bugbear though is the number of substitutions - loads of Waitrose own brand replaced by Ocado own brand, which is frankly crap quality. They seem to be gradually phasing out lots of the Waitrose fresh fruit, veg and bread in favour of their own stuff.
Waitrose deliver to here now, which they didn't a couple of years ago, so I've started to use them instead. Prices are exactly the same, if not cheaper because you get all their special offers and they don't charge anything for delivery. And it arrives all nicely packed and nothing squashed Grin

Sorry for the rant - can you tell it's annoyed me??? Grin

Ali - interesting what you say about Ocado. I am a die hard Ocado (ie. Waitrose) fan and always choose Ocado deliveries because I can get them at very short notice, and they offer hour slots. My Waitrose Deliver service is a bit rubbish - not many slots available unless you book way ahead and I cannot navigate their website....

BUT I agree that all this phasing in Ocado own brand isn't necessarily a good thing - Waitrose own brand is sooo good mostly, I wish they would just concentrate on that! Maybe spreading themselves a bit thin to offer ANOTHER "cheaper" (ie. non-brand) range???? Especially if it is no good!!!

Anyway, nuff of that.

Have vile cold, have cleaned house, so cannot contemplate a list.

Happy Chinese New Year BTW - I am a Rooster (as is DD!) DS is a Monkey (oh yes he is!). DH is a Tiger, rrrrrraaah.

JustKeepSwimming · 03/02/2011 16:40

That's interesting Ali, I don't really understand the difference between Ocado & Waitrose, though i did spot packers in Waitrose the other day which i didn't think happened.
A good thing as in Asda, you have to fight your way through the staff stocking the shelves & the staff unloading the shelves for online shops which strikes me as a bit daft.

Anon - I have always been a diehard Ocado fan as well, raved about them to anyone who would listen, but I just got so irritated.

I am a Snake, DH is a Dog and DS is a Rat. Holds fairly true for DH and I, DH is highly amused to think that he would make an ideal 'secret agent'! Grin

Ali - hope all goes well with the fireplace.............!

DS is home from school today, complained of a sore tummy and I must say he looked decidedly peaky this morning and even the promise of football club didn't have any effect. Anyway, strangely enough, he has now stuffed his face and "perked up" Hmm and is now ensconced on the sofa with DH, under a blanket watching The Discovery Channel......

Ali will foreplace have a real fire?
Just have not got down any list at all this week. Must get meself sorted for next week.
print some stuff - at least have got that working now.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/02/2011 15:16

No, it is a gas fire. I couldn't be bothered with the prospect of having to clean the fireplace all the time, and worry about supplies of wood etc.
Wanted something I could just flick on for instant warmth.
It has a closed front, so v.economical, something like 80% of the heat goes into the room rather than up the chimney - and there is no draft down the chimney any longer, or a convenient entry-route for giant spiders!!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/02/2011 16:21

Yay it is done, and it works! Am so so pleased. Have paid the fitter, now to phone the shop... I might get DH to do it, I'm feeling a bit wimpish for some reason!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 04/02/2011 16:49

Yay for fireplace ali Grin

Productive morning, non productive afternoon. Played marbles and watched telly with ds and wc for 2.5 hours instead of doing anything useful, ah well.

Need to take sofa covers off and get them washed tonight, they are filthy with chocolate and all sorts of gunk all over them.

Anonymousbird · 04/02/2011 17:54

Ha ha re Wine deliveries - you know, they do come up quite often Blush but generally because when Tesco offer free delivery for an order of any size, it means I don't have to spend £100 +, I can just order one box and it's delivered for free, so that is what I do!!!

Soooo much cheaper than buying in my regular groceries delivery.

AND I have the PIL's babysitting tonight which means two things:

a) I need vast amounts of wine in (they are right old soaks) (hence the next day order made yesterday) and
b) the DC won't go to bed before 9... which REALLY pisses me off as I always say "8 on the dot please".

Grrr. I mean, I know it is usually a weekend when they babysit or whatever but even so, I like them in bed at 8 otherwise they are horrors the next day and it is ME who has to deal with it!

Hey ho.

Knackered today, think 3 4-yr olds is the max to have indoors. And they all get on, DS1 has a group of baby friends but tbh he prefers today's 2, and i prefer the mums so it's perfect but i feel mean about not inviting everyone. Well i did, but after tidying up after 3 (+DS2), even with them helping & DH, i know i couldn't manage anymore.

Hello Plum and JKS. It's clearly vile cold week!! I have been in a deep fog of sinus pain since Wednesday. Just today I feel like a couple of layers have lifted.... But my nose is SO SORE!

PIL's weren't too bad with DC last night. They were in bed at 8.15 apparently, which is ok for a Friday..... so not grotty today, which is a relief!

Anyway, Saturday is our lazy day, we have nothing we need to do at all other than just chill out a bit.. Nice.

Rugby, newspaper and sofa for the afternoon I suspect!

Plum - good call on the fire, ours is full of ash, so before we light it, I am going to go and clear it out....

Fantastic quiz result! How old are they??
