Ladies I will have a catch up later - have only 5 mins left on laptop battery!

One question to JKS What is an 'inversion' and how do I do it? Fed up of this child being wedged sideways in my belly !!!!!!

TimeWasting · 26/01/2011 21:45

Evening!

Good luck to your hubby Anon.

JKS, well done to DS2. Smile

Looking forward to seeing some photos Mini!

I'm super tired, but v. happy as I lost 4lbs this week at Weight Watchers. Grin

JustKeepSwimming · 27/01/2011 05:53

Ali - what position is your baby in? Have you looked at the spinning babies website? on there they show one example of an inversion, basically imagine you try to go down the stairs on hands and knees head first :) except with someone standing below you supporting your shoulders and you just get into position and stay there, not actually go down the stairs.
Basically any position that totally takes the baby's weight off the ligament around the bottom of the bump, so i have tried off the side of my bed (quite a high bed), hand on the floor.
Think you're meant to hold it for 10/15secs then get up (carefully). It hasn't worked yet for me.
Have MW later so will have to discuss further methods as i really want a HB and transverse has only possible exit route :(

Anonymousbird · 27/01/2011 06:16

Morning JKS - fellow early bird today! DH had to go early to the hospital so am wide awake.... Actually I did wonder what you meant by inversion too! Good luck with that.

Am trying to think of nice things to have in for DH when he gets back. He is going to be very sore and immobile for a couple of days, he'll hopefully be up and about a bit at the weekend, but will be largely housebound for the next week, if not two... have got in nice biccies and cakes (I always crave sugar after operations!), lots of juices, lager (of course - but may be not today!), comfort food - eggs, toast, might even make some soup. Lots of logs for nice warm fires... Going to get the kids to make him get well cards this morning.

What else?

Plum - have ordered in extra patience Wink - great idea!

Minimal list today:

  • DC to school
  • To friend for quick coffee
  • Home for tidy up/dog walk/check on builders
  • Meal plan and Ocado order for tomorrow
  • Go collect DH from hospital (hopefully)

Mornin'
Ali JKS, I do yoga with pregnant ladies and we do: from kneeling on all fours, bring toes together knees apart making room for bump, walk your hands forward until your head is on floor or as far as you can get, Bottom up-ish. Let gravity do its work. This is supposed to help baby into right pos.
Back later with list.
Work day today

minimammoth · 27/01/2011 08:53

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/01/2011 10:46

JKS/Mini - that all sounds good. Baby is transverse, or was the last time I checked. Felt it moving a lot in the night though and the kicks etc seemed in a different place so if I can get DS to be quiet infront of the TV then I will have a feel and see what's going on.
Scan to decide birth plan is in 2 weeks, so if I do want to try a VBAC then that's how long I've got to persuade the baby into a better position!
Will give it a go tomorrow once DH is back (thank bloody God I am knackered) and we are at home.
87 year old grandmother isn't going to manage to deal with DS and get me to hospital if I do myself a mischief Grin

Wasting - yay for 4lbs, that is brilliant! Is it your first week?

Anon - hope the op goes well. Men can be strangely wimpish about such things - DH needs an op on his ear and despite the fact that he can pick and choose his date etc because it's private, he keeps putting it off. Have told him that now it's too late to have it done before DC2 comes.

Mini - good luck for exhibition! :)

to everyone else Grin

I may even post a small list later, need to do a shop for grandma and sort a few things here before we leave tomorrow.

Anonymousbird · 27/01/2011 11:04

Just couldn't wait - had to phone hospital.
He's not back on the ward yet... just want to know he's through the anaesthetic and no complications.

The waiting is fairly unbearable!

Ali - Strangely wimpish - yes, DH the same, has needed this surgery for years really, but has soldiered on, putting it off etc etc. Finally, this latest injury has forced the issue - and as it was private, the surgeon just said "see you in the morning then". No time to stop and think or worry about it at least. And let's face it, not a lot happens in February does it, so it's a good month to be in recovery!

AAAGGGHHHH. Wish they'd call!

OP posts:
TimeWasting · 27/01/2011 11:22

Hope you get some news soon Anon.

Ali, my third week, I lost 5lbs first week then 1.5lbs the second. I thought I'd do well to lost the half lb last night I needed to get my first half stone loss then lost 4 so I was on a real high. Grin I've a lot to lose so those little goals are great motivation.

Right -

  • finish coffee

Then -

  • 15 mins - general pottering and tidying
Anonymousbird · 27/01/2011 11:44

He just called ! Phew! Sounds very groggy, but not at all surprising. Just wants out of there. I can collect him at 2...

I want to cry - with relief and also as he sounded so out of it and he is going to hurt so much...

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 27/01/2011 12:07

Anon - glad he is through it, even if he's in pain now, well he was before too, this is 'useful' pain IYKWIM.

Wasting - I'm 28+4 now.

Ali - this baby is transverse too, grr. I see the MW later and will discuss when best to have a scan to confirm position and maybe discuss ECV, or start trying to find a reflexologist or something.

Mini - i can do that pose except for having my knees apart, my SPD is ok at the mo but i'm being ultra careful and keeping my knees together as much as poss. This baby just seems happy in it's 'pelvic hammock' Hmm
