Welcome to the October 2010 Fledgling Flying thread!

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of the Fat Fairy, with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here!

Many thanks to our September thread leader StillCounting for guiding us through the traumatic back to work and school period with lots of support and guidance!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach (and don't worry - we are all at different stages):

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

Together we can do it! All newcomers welcome!

Bbaystep No 4. Post-It notes. I don't do this one.

Mission. this week we are in Zone 2, The Kitchen.

Sneak Peek for the Week

See you all tomorrow.

Thanks everyone Smile. Yay to you too MM, I hadn't realised you were so far along. I have just started with heartburn in the last couple of days and looking forward to the ankle swelling in a couple of months time!

Damn it forgot the curtain hooks!!!

Dishwasher, washing, meal plan and general tidy achieved though..

Goodness me but it's wet here! The cats are lining up two by two on the front step Grin

PA Did I read that right? You have 6 DC? Gosh I am properly impressed. I am panicking about whether I'm going to cope with 2

SC that certainly sounds like a lot to me! I haven't managed much today, but my house is at least tidy enough to be able to start the week without feeling depressed about it.

Must admit I am looking forward to finding out what room the fat fairy has in store for us tomorrow. Feel a bit Blush to admit that. Not very rock and roll!

Happy Sundays (and Monday mornings) to all Smile

pushmepullyou · 03/10/2010 21:30

Crossed posts - the kitchen. Tbh mine is probably the room that needs it most, but I was secretly hoping for the bathroom

MrsDinky · 03/10/2010 21:33

Bathroom is October 12-15 PMPY - put in on your calendar!

waves at everyone else, cant stick around as have a paint fumed induced headache.

very busy day today, swimming went ok, followed by a 45 minute im lost drive to party. good party then a 1.5 hr journey home, accident heldup traffic. then followed by a sleep on couch Blush followed by dh coming home to a complete bomb site, dd loves her jigsaws and they were strewn all over the house Blush.
it did however spur dh into action and he even attempted and failed to tackle a hotspot! But he did cook rice and reheat homemade curry. painting done, dh has also oiled skirting. chicken casserole in slow cooker for tomorrow. online shopping done for tomorrow night.

have good start to tomorrow everyone. off to watch glee then bed.

early night

I told ds that i was going to bed when he did at 9pm. Unfortunately i was sucked into a thread earlier and got caught up in it. Somehow it is half one and i am still up Confused

Wish you all happy flying later.

LinzerTorte · 04/10/2010 05:00

Morning all,

I'm definitely going to need an early night tonight - DH had to get up at 4.30 am to catch his flight, and I only managed to get back to sleep about five minutes before my alarm went off. I will really have to force myself to go to bed early though, as I'm very good at pottering around, spending far too much time on MN, etc. etc. when DH is away.

I have a busy morning ahead of me: school run followed by the doctor's for my check-up results, then back home to start on the work that I need to have finished by tomorrow morning (I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will arrive early-ish this morning and not five minutes before I pick the DDs up from school - otherwise the early night isn't looking so good). I'm going to try out my slow cooker for the first time today, so hopefully that will save a bit of time.

Must go and get the DC's snacks done before I wake them - will try to be back later, work permitting!

PositiveAttitude · 04/10/2010 05:10

I am awake Sad. Cant sleep. In pain!! Sad Sad

Mrs Doolittle, We now have 5 children as our first died as a baby. I always wanted a big family, a la Waltons, and would have loved some more, but bad pregnancies were not my idea of fun, so we stopped there!!! Have you tried the travel sickness wrist bands? they were the best that I could find, they made it possible to function, as they took away the constant nausea, but unfortunately they didnt stop me being sick and I would be mid conversation, anywhere and would suddenly vomit. Shock Blush. I ended up staying in the house and if I had friends round I had to sit in the kitchen with my head aimed to the sink to avoid embarrassment. If I had to go out I had to leave the bands off so that I had warning of the need to dash to the toilet!! Oh dear, the memories, yes 5 is definitely enough!!

SC yes i did take it easy, but only because it was forced on me. Taking it "easy" is seriously doing my head in. Grrrrr!!

I dont think I will get a lot done today. I am supposed to be at work all day, but not sure i will manage it, so will go in normal time (late) and come home as soon as I start to fall asleep. Wink So no list for me, Just survival, I think.

BobLoblaw · 04/10/2010 07:51

I hope you're more comfortable now PA

Crossing my fingers your work arrives suitably early and the Drs goes ok Linzer ]

Hope your head is ok Teasing

I'm desperate for another dog Nettie I think it's displacement longing Blush I've convinced dp too just waiting for a suitable rescue to come up.

My kitchen needs a deep clean and one cupboard is horrendous Shock I was hoping for bathroom too PMPY Grin

Thanks for the links MrsDinky

Good morning waves to ellie SC Sahara and everyone :)

TeasingFireDragons · 04/10/2010 07:56

Oh PA I hope you can find some pain relief today. Taking it easy is very annoying when in your head you want to do stuff.

I am up but not organised so i dont predict a smooth morning.

swanriver · 04/10/2010 09:32

Firedragon and PA and Linzer commiserations with the sleep, FD Please go to bed early tonight and put a UXB sign on computer

I am guilty too, watched DowntonAbbey and then the end of ThePianist...tinkered around and then went to bed, feel completely befuddled this morning

Right, [throws herself into HOMEBLESS HOUR[bitter laugh]with determination and Now 1987.

Children are at school with their waterbottles and clean uniform [smirk]despite dd saying she couldn't possibly go to school. Ds2 has put another 6 stars on his chart - he is obsessed by it...Dd has no interest in her starchart - I think she needs unconditional parenting Wink

I have nearly finished the CURTAIN. 2 more to go!
LOL at your squirrel SC. Do you remember the story of Timmy Tiptoes (BPotter)who is so fat he gets stuck?

swanriver · 04/10/2010 09:34

Chippee Hackee, that was the other one...or was that his wife?

Also today, must remember to do the PARKING VOUCHERS.

TeasingFireDragons · 04/10/2010 10:53

Happy birthday for yesterday tiger Did you do anything nice.

Swan - upstairs is a bit like that here, unfortunately so is downstairs BlushSad

So despite the prediction and realisation of yet another migraine. today has been quite productive. As i am maxed out on my migraine reliever and the pharmacy is still trying to sort out the new meds. Spoke to Pharmacist this morning. He needs to speak to the doc to revise the prescription, then hopefully it will be in tomo or latest wednesday - thank fuck.

So todays 1st revision of list:
Sending important paper work recorded mail.
Return library books
Sleep off migraine
Ds' spellings done

I am having ten minutes before going to do something else... distraction is the only way to deal with this stupid migrain nonsense. Sleeping in day = not sleep @night.

I thinking i might have to go do something. I think the guilt might just be my saving grace today.

Stillcounting · 04/10/2010 13:25

Hello everyone

Quick post because I'm at work.

Beginning to think there is some wierd Fledgling telepathic connection going on, as I didn't sleep last night either. DD moved in to our room (dh away) and tossed and turned and muttered all night. Woke with a stonking headache which is lingering. Wierd weather here today - sultry with autumnal undertones ...

Hope everyone who is suffering starts to feel better today!

For anyone is feeling broody, I can thoroughly recommend guinea pigs Grin They warble a song on your lap of an evening - not quite a whippet in pram scenario but close ... Grin

Thanks for links MrsD and thanks for warning Ouch/Teasing - great namechange!

Swan I'd forgotten all about Tommy Tiptoes although 'our' corpulent squirrel has obviously read it! He's still up to his tricks this am. Well done with the curtains!

Had cleaner here on Friday who home-blessed so house looking better than usual.

Today I have done:
morning routine inc dw & wm on, s&s & master swipe
packed lunch & dd to school
hotspots
work
already obsessed with dettol-ing kitchen bin so mission done

After work I will:
do school & music run
prepare tomorrow's supper (spag bol)
do more washing
clean out gps
hwk supervision/supper/bed/bath routine
afternoon/evening routine

That will be more than enough.

Mahoosive waves to all ...and a special hello to Tigger & Bob now you are re-connected! Hope you had a lovely birthday yesterday Tigger. Good to see you too Sahara - have a good trip!

swanriver · 04/10/2010 13:26
