Welcome to the October 2010 Fledgling Flying thread!

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of the Fat Fairy, with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here!

Many thanks to our September thread leader StillCounting for guiding us through the traumatic back to work and school period with lots of support and guidance!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach (and don't worry - we are all at different stages):

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

Together we can do it! All newcomers welcome!

Roundup part three (damn phone).

boblob is getting excited about Christmas. Her ds is very generous and is going to buy everyone iPods. Grin. she is flummoxed by present buying, a problem I share by the bucketload!

linzer is baking muffins, purchasing healthy snacks and walking for exercise. More power to her elbow as the last time I did exercise was circa 1999 and I have the lardy bum to show for it!

dartss tooth fairy had an early night and forgot to visit. Mine forgot visit for three nights on the trot once and then left the money but also the tooth! Think I need to interview for a new oneGrin.

toffeefudge somehow managed to invite lots of people tolunch without realising it. Silly lady, sometimes our mouths get the better of us don't they Grin

That it I think. Back later depending on what I manage not to do!

SylviaPankhurst · 30/10/2010 16:02

Please may I join in November when I am turning over a new leaf and getting back to organisation?

I used to fly on MN years ago (literally) and since giving up my whole house has descended into chaos. I enjoyed it here and would be glad to get back into the whole fly lady routines.

SylviaPankhurst · 30/10/2010 16:02

PS I am back under a new name.

elliepac · 30/10/2010 16:41

Does that mean we fledglings know you under another name Sylvia? If not welcome, if so , welcome back o mysterious one.

SylviaPankhurst · 30/10/2010 16:56

LOL yes I was here under another name but not sure who is here from a couple of years ago. Thanks for the welcome. I need to swot up over the weekend and then start making lists on Monday.

BobLoblaw · 30/10/2010 17:32

Hello :)

Welcome Sylvia I'm new but this thread is really helping me keep on top of things.

Nice round up ellie hope you've fixed your broadband now, I hate posting from my phone, I still covet an iPhone though.

Hope you're feeling better now DID

I've promised ds I will do something for halloween next year Nettie glad the party went well, did you do it at home?

Ooh icecream and peace feetheart sounds wonderful, I'm very jealous.

Hope everyone has had a lovely day. We went out for lunch and walked the dog along the beach which was lovely but I carried dd and now my back is knackered :(

Today
-Clean bathroom done
-Two loads of washing done
-Clear up outside, a recycling bag came undone last night and blew crap everywhere done
-Sort out control journal done

Got to get everything ready for back to school tomorrow, going out for breakfast with my parents and dp is at band practise all day.

elliepac · 30/10/2010 18:06

boblob I love my iPhone a little more than I love dh Grin.

BobLoblaw · 30/10/2010 18:34

I'd swap my dp for one Grin

LinzerTortured · 30/10/2010 21:09

I was trying to convince DH earlier today that I need an iPhone. However, I don't think he was convinced... I'm not sure I'm convinced myself, but it would be nice!

Not much achieved today, but I have bought my first Christmas present so it's a start. Must remember to order DH's birthday present tomorrow as it's his birthday on Thursday - I'm cutting it a bit fine as it is.

Am not sure how much flying I'll manage to get done over the next few days, with the DC not back at school until Wednesday and DH away from tomorrow until late on Monday, but I have lots of good intentions... just need to work on putting them into practice. [hgrin]

Nettie DS announced this morning that he wanted to "write" a postcard to your DS - it turned out to be even more of a scribble than usual, but will be on its way after the bank holiday!

PositiveAttitude · 30/10/2010 21:30

Evening all Grin

If I had an iphone I am sure I would love it more than DH at the moment. Last evening he wanted me to do up a spreadsheet for him, all colour coded, which is fine, but very difficult to do when he is sat at my elbow telling me what to do (he has not got a clue how to actually do it himself), but the biggest issue is he is colour blind, so confusion over the colour coded spreadsheet nearly caused divorce!!! Confused
On my list on Friday I had to go and buy a nice new nightie for hospital. I had visions of a nice silky, sexy, long flowing , yummy thing. Ended up with brushed cotton pink with white dots pyjamas!! I must be old!!! but they are comfy!! Blush

DH is also driving me crazy by banning me from actually doing anything. I am going stir crazy!! I can only sit and read, watch TV etc for so long, then I need to be active. Cant wait for him to go to work on Monday, then I will be a naughty girl while he is out!! I wonder what mischief I can get up to. I might be so bored I might even be forced to do some housework Shock.

have a good weekend everyone, see you on the new thread on Monday.

EnchantressNettieSpaghetti · 30/10/2010 21:34

EnchantressNettieSpaghetti · 30/10/2010 21:38

DancingIceDragons · 30/10/2010 23:57

Bloody hell when did HQ pull their fingure out and finally give us halloween ConfusedandBiscuit? That is cool

PA rest can be so over rated. You do what you feel you need to. Just try not to over do it in you enthusaism on monday [hgrin]

Sorry for no other personal messages am completely crackered. **

Havent done much today. I literally have no voice at all :( Ds was being very grown up about it at bedtime and shh stop talking and rest your voice. Mummy can you read me a story? poor kid burst into tears when i said no. Thankfully gran was here to read for me. We have had the great big why did mummy and daddy split up talk. the big mummy why dont you miss me when i go to daddy's house talk and the I am so sad that daddy misses me so much talk. It has been a heavy evening. Poor kid knows when he has been lied to so i have had to give him the truth as unemotionally as possible. I expect him to clingy tomorrow.

We did however stop to watch some fireworks on the way home. He did really well considering he is sound phobic. We were on the other side of the hill so it was really weird to hear the bang of the firework ages after seeing the firework explode. We have a lot of work before he can see a proper firework display but progress. [hgrin]

purplewednesday · 31/10/2010 09:33

DID hope you feel better soon! And so sorry to hear of your troubles at home too. Hope it sorts itself out OK.

I have had a change of plan this weekend. I am now going to the sussex coast in a couple of hours as I need to go and spend some time reflecting at my parents grave.....I hate it living so far away from there. DH hasn't got a lot on at work tomorrow so can look after the DDs and i will pop down there and stay in a travelodge for the night. I have downloaded an ebook of verbal critical thinking and numerical reasoning, so that will keep me amused later on Hmm

So, A quick blitz in each room, clean out hens, shower, then go. DH and DDs have gone to a dog show so I can do all this in half the time!

ellie love the idea of interviewing a new tooth fairy. DD wrote a note asking the toothfairy her name. I wrote back saying it was Louise, and she was chuffed to bits about it!

Back tomorrow eve girls, have a good day!

swanriver · 31/10/2010 14:26

purple glad you can get the time to go to your parents' grave. It is such a beautiful part of the world too, my grandparents lived there.

I'm back from my rather brief [ratherexhausting]holiday, but at least we had some country air and general running around with family members

just popped in to get some things done[hgrin]
dh is away till Monday, so feeling a bit worn out (we've been out all morning)but need to do:
todo
sink
rescue dd's bedroom
hall/luggage/horrors
remake ds2 wet bed
check uniform for tomorrow return to school
find out whether they need PE kit(hope not)
school bags for tomorrow

halloweeny type things - soup, stew, decorations, bag of treats for visiting, ghoulies, carve pumpkin, apple bobbing

bbl!

BobLoblaw · 31/10/2010 18:04

Evening :)

Can't think how to word it purple "nice" isn't the word but I hope you have a peaceful time on your visit :) I often visit a very special little girl's grave and feel very at peace there.

Glad you had a nice hols swan

It's quiet on here today, hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday. We've had a nice day, visited my parents this morning and my dad took ds out to play football and just eaten a huge roast, feeling very full.

Today
-Make beds done
-Clean bathroom done
-Get school bags ready done
-Iron school uniform done

Back to school routine tomorrow when I could do with another week off but hey ho. Going to try to order a few christmas presents tonight.

EnchantressNettieSpaghetti · 31/10/2010 20:03

Evening everyone [hgrin]

purple thinking of you
bob hmm had lovely roast too.
swan glad you had a nice albeit hectic time
did hope you feelbetter and that ds was ok today after your talk.

Today has been quite hectic again and rather painful. Back has been really sore all day [hsad] But had done the following:-

crisis cleaned whole house including home blessing
made sunday dinner for us and in laws
attended swimming lessons [hgrin]
thats all today. [hgrin] [hgrin] [hgrin]

ds has been asking me all day what we are doing for halloween [hshock] [hshock] i mean come on!! so far this halloween we have

had halloween dress up at preschool
halloween party with snot cakes, goo balls etc etc
halloween extravaganza late night at the zoo
halloween treasure hunt
halloween fireworks!!

now come on surely thats enough. turned all lights off to prevent any more tricker treaters coming to door to keep ds awake and make him aware he is missing out on some treat treating. [hgrin] [mean mummy] [hgrin] [hgrin]

off to watch x factor nite all see you in november.

Thanks mrsd again for thread leading and to everyone else who has lent a hand and kept me entertained and motivated.

PositiveAttitude · 31/10/2010 21:24

Thank you to MrsD for steering this through October. Smile

DancingIceDragons · 31/10/2010 23:51

Dont go took crazy tomo PA Grin

There are no troubles at home Purple. Ds has just finally got to the age where he can ask those questions. He has been a little clingy but not too bad. It was mostly at bedtime when i had to lie in his bed with him holding his hand and being cuddled by him until he was alseep. Not had to do that for a while. I am shattered and have a lot of driving to do tomo so i am off to bed. Hopefully i have remembered all of the links needed for tomo. Feel free to remind me if I have forgotten any. Grin
