Am trying on various halloween names now. Mummified mammoth. Minimaniac. I'll try a few more.
Am in forensic accountant mode todayHmm trying to sort out DH admin, Aarghh. Will be rescued soon and swan off to garden centre with friend for lunch.
Will rummage around for list later.
Anon I hope your list shortens with ease. Sorry to hear about parent stuff. You are about to move house, soon aren't you? wondered if they might have been trying to make life easier by staying in hotel, perhap.. maybe.. I guess not ( trying to be optimistic).
Where's Plum?

JustKeepSwimming · 20/10/2010 12:53

Hi, i'm alright, it wasn't that the toy hurt so much as it was just too much at that time of the morning (night!).

I have said to my Dad that it looks like they don't care, esp my Mum but he reassured me they do/she talks about the boys, esp DS2, all the time & was so worried about him. But she is not the person she was- had about a year's worth of hospital & rehab for cancer a while back, think it addled her mind a bit!

Hi,Just joined and found this page. Thanks so much as I'm not sad and insane like my family think for doing lists.I love my lists and honestly thought its just me.Does anyone do their list on a spredsheet? Like to see that the lists are similar too. Thanks

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 20/10/2010 16:10

Hello stig, lists of any type shape and size are all welcome. We love I am addicted to lists here!

Ali - fingers crossed that DH and his charger arrived to save the day!! Hoorah.

JKS - I suspect my situation is quite similar. I get the impression that Mum is quite vocal about the DC to her friends etc, it's just NONE OF IT SHOWS TO US!!!! I mean, not to even ask after them... and today a 7 word email "What would DGD like for her birthday". Literally. Absolutely no nicities at all.

Interesting what you say about your mum's treatment (sorry to hear she has been through that). My mum was in and out of hospital for nearly a year after a major car accident a few years ago and DH and I only half jokingly have often said that she has never been quite the same since... she faced death, literally - I was in the room with her, god knows what that must have been like, and although she made a great physical recovery, eventually, I think a few wires never fully reconnected. So I shouldn't give her too hard a time, but even so it really hit a nerve with me last night!

And mini - re the house move, yes, we are, but I made it very clear BEFORE she offered hotel that we are completely all systems go as normal.. but I suppose if she already had it in mind to offer, not knowing where we were at, she still offered anyway..

Never mind.

Stig - welcome :) Not so much spreadsheets as scraps of paper everywhere..oh and lists on wordpad thingie, and on here!

Anon - my mum had/has mutliple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) and had to have extreme chemo which involved being in isolation a lot of the time, then the meds affected her nerve endings so she couldn't walk, etc. she can walk now but is unsteady, her fingers don't work so well and so on. She gets frustrated & it was tough (on everybody) i know but she definitely lost some marbles in that year Hmm My Dad puts up with all of her new foibles bless him!

I will have to try and speak to him about coming at Christmas as she was singularly useless on the phone earlier & i was trying to get them up for some of half-term but no luck yet.

Busy day today: boxes boxes boxes
I have a home not just a glorified hotel !
Its so nice to have my stuff Grin

Dcs said it was like Christmas

Felt very weird having a cleaner (she calls me Ma'am Shock ) must admit I hid in ds's bedroom.

plan for tomorrow is to sort through the box of paperwork ... i SHOULD have a file with our wills in/life insurance/critical illness etc etc and can't for the life of me remember what i did with it (its possibly 3000 miles away sitting in a storage room ...eek)

JustKeepSwimming · 20/10/2010 18:18

EEK hope you find the file!

Having been in your position (but pre-DC) i can empathise, it is so much fun 're-finding' all your stuff after weeks of living without it!

anon am impressed with the cooking, sounds yummi, save some for me.
JKS eek re kitchen door. Christmas, hmm have bought 2 calenders and think that i have got me head around who is doing what where. It is difficult trying to fit everybody in when we live distances. It usually works somehow. i would like it to be simple and not exhausting for anybody, especially me.

Hello :)

Car is fixed, hurrah and all home safely. I love being at my parent's house, and so does DS because it is huge and there is tons of room for him to explore and run about, but home is lovely :)

I have decided I need to spend more time doing things that I want to do before this baby turns up, now that I'm not feeling so knackered. So I'm embarking on making Christmas pressies and starting to plan re-decorating the living room. And I have vowed to spend at least 1 hour every afternoon reading while DS naps because that I will miss once DC2 is here!
Plum - I saw on Fellatio's ponce thread that you are making fudge - which recipe are you using? I am a novice! Grin

List for tonight
Tidy up downstairs
Clear up dinner
Clean highchair and sidetables
Washing that is in the machine onto airer
Get DH to do bin and crock
Bed with my book

JustKeepSwimming · 21/10/2010 07:01

Morning all
Changed the heating to come on at 4 instead of 5 as a test. Not a good plan. Woke me & DS2.
But he was coughing from 2 onwards anyway so wouldn't have mattered.
Another cold & cough for him, back on extra inhalers - though now we have new instructions from asthma nurse yesterday - and rubbish sleep for him & me.

Anon - that is a good idea about booking an Ocado slot, can i do that without paying/checking out? never booked a slot so far in advance before.

Not a lot of sleep it's true, and it's getting to me now, am feeling near tears most of the time, only takes the slightest thing to tip me over the edge, it's not like normal me, reminds me of depressed me from last year so i don't like it.

Kind of had to agree to DH going out to play golf tomorrow afternoon (when he'd kept it clear of work appts) as it's been ages since he played and his friend & him have been trying to arrange it for ages. felt like dissolving in a heap and screaming no though!!

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 21/10/2010 09:51

I just book it and put in one or two really expensive items(eg. magnum of champagne) and then check out. They won't charge you until the day, and of course you can amend your order until a couple of days before hand.

It just secures your slot (and you can always cancel).

Only thing is, it is 9.99 a slot, even for their Delivery Pass customers (like me Sad). But it will cost you nothing if you reserve slot now and change mind later.

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 21/10/2010 09:56

JKS - the slots are open, I've just booked mine!!!!!

B*stards said we would get an email about it, but I haven't had one, so thought I'd check and there it was?!?! So am booked for 23rd December. Phew.

I don't even know where I will be for Christmas, but as long as I have my slot, I'm happy Grin

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 21/10/2010 11:01

This enforced clearing out is great. Have found loads of stuff I had forgotten about. Even found hats and gloves (yes matching pairs as well!) for DC and three pairs of wearable shoes I haven't seen for three years! Shoes with heels. Apart from the odd totter out when I wear a frock, I haven't worn heels regularly since I was working. On trying on one of the pairs today, I simply do not know how I negotiated the London Transport system and uneven pavements in them without nearly killing myself!

Ah well

Nah, I'd much rather be doing what I'm doing now, of course Confused. Wearing flat shoes Wink

vastingavay · 21/10/2010 11:03

Well done anon, that's good planning. Grin

I haven't looked at the poncetastic thread, will peruse later.

JKS, Sad hope things pick up soon, you need your rest.

We haven't gone to music class this morning, as DS is coughing and snotting up a storm. Sad He's ok in himself, but didn't think it'd go down well with the other parents. It was supposed to be in costume too, so I'll have to find something else to do in his pumpkin outfit.

The landlords builder will be coming to do the radiator in the hallway soon. Grin Can't wait, it was freezing last night. Hopefully the windows will follow sharpish.

JKS you poor thing :( If I were nearer I would come over and provide moral support, as it is I will have to do it virtually! (((hugs)))
Can you just leave DH to it at the weekend and stay in bed for the day with a book?

Anon - I did get an e-mail about slots but I've done nothing with it yet. I think we will be away down at my parents, but not until Christmas Eve so I must book a slot earlier in the week so that we can have christmas yummies at home too Grin

Its amazing how good men are at putting themselves first, and making it all sound quite fair and reasonable. Hope you get equal amount of child free time off with a mate.
