Hi guys, just flying by to see how you are. Started my pgce course today and its quite full on so far getting my head around it, travelling etc so no time for flying plus DH is ill again so bit manic around here.

Am hoping to have a routine worked out by end of week and then will be back here fingers crossed - Hope you are all well

realitychick · 09/09/2010 09:05

Morning,

Thanks for the welcome Dylsmum and Overflowing.

Makingchanges- good luck with your course. Hope it goes well -I keep thinking about it but am put of by the amount of work. Respect to you!

Swanriver - I'd love a laundry chute but it would clog up with kids and cats before the first sock ever got in there.

Wendy - thank you. I agree Wink Got to pace it...

Done: breakfast
Packed lunches
Kids off to school with the right sports kit
Emptied one of the three suitcases left from holidays that still had 15 things-that-have-no-home in them and cluttered kitchen table with them found them a home.
Dishwasher emptied and reloaded.
Kitchen tidied, cleaned and shined.
Pointed at sausages in fridge to OH for tonight as I'm out with old friend.

Today:
Opticians
Bank
Buy birthday present for DS's friend's party at weekend.
One more washing load
Have fun with friend (having bit of a day off on day 2. Hmmm....)

dylsmum1998 · 09/09/2010 09:36

morning all

Ruby ds is loving his big school. I think he is enjoying the independence of getting the buses as well. He always comes home happy (so far anyway Smile) despite having at least one lot of homework set a day.

MC hope you settle into a routine soon so that things don't seem so manic (and post your top tips here- I start monday Grin)

today I have done;
shower all
dc breakfast
dc pack lunches
dd to school
repeat prescriptions put in at docs
tidy through downstairs
hoovered through downstairs
s&s bathroom
sorted dry washing

unload washer
have hung washing out, warily watching the skies!

to do
unload washer
sort any washing which actually dries
go to shops to get dd a swim hat
mission

swanriver · 09/09/2010 11:55

Maybe it was on Sunday the day before...re: Petersham

have made an extraordinarily elaborate starchart to try and get my 10 year old to take more responsibility for his stuff, practice, chores, health etc...here's hoping he will take the bait

have done kitchen superficially
moving on to playroom to continue purge

Jas · 09/09/2010 13:23

Here is a link to a christmas countdown thread. I've copied it as I can't link to the message - you have to log in to a yahoo account to see it and I forgot the password long long ago. I get them on Tuesday, so I'll edit and repost each week.

I've been shopping for teenage bras this morning. I think after all the fuss about over sexualising young girls. all the shops have got rid of them.... It took me 2 hours to find white bras small enough for my skinny, but want to cover up now she is at senior school 11 yr old!

As usual I have not done much else. Just had flap jack for breakfast, and will have another cuppa then sort out the breakfast thingsBlush

Jas · 09/09/2010 13:52

I was just going to post the link if people want to sign up, and the weekly list of jobs on the Christmas thread, so they don't get lost. I'm not doing much of it yet, either!

Nuttybear · 09/09/2010 13:58

Thank you Jas
Bum! Heavy rain has stopped play & attacked my dry washing on the line. Will do ironing now that shirts have a sprinkle of water!
Laterz!

Nuttybear · 09/09/2010 14:08

swan before I start Ironing...... Read your message. Yep! it is fab around there and here in fact. We walk from Kingston to Petersham along the river, then have a spot of expensive tea then go home on the bus. DH and myself think this should be a blue print for the rest of the world! Shame it's bankers money that probably make it this way and they don't share it out fairly. ops! I'm off on a rant and I've got thinks to do and places to go! Glad you enjoyed it

swanriver · 09/09/2010 14:52

Nutty we got the bus back home too! Most surprised and delighted to find one with our home zone on it where we least expected it. The 65 no less...

Along with playroom stuff have cleared out two kitchen drawers - somehow in this house it is never clear where the envelopes are - they just get lost in amongst all the other STUFF. Now have envelope/diary/chequebook/computer drawer and napkins/drinking straw drawer.

Select Girls' night out tonight - looking forward to catching up with everyone, although don't think I can face subject of secondaries or spelling yet again. I just want to talk about more exciting matters, like mid-life crises Hmm

scattyspice · 09/09/2010 16:26

Everyone sounding busy!

MC / dyl good luck with the studies!

ruby after school clubs / friends for tea causing chaos here too Hmm.

swan girls night out sounds good.

nutty / jas hi Smile.

OFM my working mum tips are:
Know that you are doing your best.
Allow time for everyone to adjust (ie realise that you cannot do all the things you used to).
Delegate at least 1 responsibility to dh and leave him to it (my dh makes tea everynight, lucky me Smile).
Lower your standards in every area (kids, work, house, friends, family etc). Get used to the feeling that you know you are capable of doing something much better but just don't have the time/energy.

The other stuff you already know: get bags packed night before, menu plan, limit after school activities, keep the washing machine turning etc...

Had a busy day yesterday, dds friend came for tea even though rainbows was cancelled, it seems I am her childcare on weds Angry.

Ds has gone to friends for tea today, best friend is moving away (tomorrow!) Sad.

Must get on.

Nuttybear · 09/09/2010 16:50

Swan We get the 65 too!

wendyhappysmile · 09/09/2010 19:02

Dyls only skim read - I'm on day 4 today, top tips, don't listen to other people (i've never felt so unknowledgeable or out of my depth compared to others experience), Buy a good diary, mine wasn't good enough so I've bought a new one today, stock up the freezer and sort your files. I have a mountain of booklets and papers and am spending tonight filing and sorting.

I have 1/2 a day off tomorrow so I'm hoping to catch up on washing, shopping etc.

Just felt the need for a little normality of SAHM (can't believe how much I miss it) - felling a little overwhelmed, excited and tired so thought i'd come and read this - you guys really cheer me up

Nuttybear · 09/09/2010 21:43

Evening all
OFM & MC my working mum tips are:
get your own Mothers (and any other relative) to continue to Mother you!
Make double & freeze
Type out the following week when, who, where, & what.
Who:- is working (not working) parties, coming over babysitting.
What:- needs to go out the door with you on that day. School library book P.E kit borrowed frying pan from Sis. Present
ETC....

& stick it to the front door.
Calendars don't focus the mind, just use it to plan the following week!

back in a mo Smile
