Morning all
One more tip. Make them wear an art overall. It saved his uniform this morning only ketchup on a bit of his collar not the whole white polo shirt Did it since day one of school and he doesn't think anything of it.
Ha ha it will be funny if he is still wearing one in secondary school though!
I brought the first one in a uniform shop (it was required by his 1st school) and picked up the other one on holiday in Spain for £6.00 (more expensive here)blimeyjust to show but not at those pricesShock

nutty like the idea of printing weeek ahead...I never remember tocheck calendars so this may help!

jas I'm off bra shopping for my almost 11 yr old at wk/end...did you find one in the end? DD is very tall for age and has definately begun to develop early !

re: tips. OFM/Scatty Was just discussing with friend (working mum of four) how sometimes tension expresses itself as a form of badgering...Why did you not put your clothes on chair last night? It's your own fault if you can't find your socks...Where are your shoes, I thought I told you to put them away last night in the basket... Why do I have to do everything round here... All pointless comments...when actually things might get done without sounding off. She said she sometimes picks fights with kids without realising it,just because she feels overwhelmed and wants to show she is being super-organised. She says she stands in kitchen feeling really angry that it's not spotless and then gets irritated with (blameless)kids about something else...Sad

Anyway, I have been totally slack this morning, and had coffee with a friend for two hours.

Got locked out myhouse after pub visit last night without mobile, had to go round to Muslim neighbours at midnight, who were still awake having an Eid Celebration and were most alarmed to see me in flimsy pub top, slighty intoxicated asking to ring my dh (in deep sleep unable to hear (everso slightly defective Blush doorbell. It was the first time they had ever had me in their house in the last 12 years!!! I think I was not a good advert for Catholic motherhood...Anyway dh woke up in very grumpy state, resolved his mid-life crisis anyway Wink and has gone to York this morning on a business trip.

MC SAHM dom can be very draining too! enjoy the pace of PGCE while you are still young

todo
ironing
keeping up with appearances
catfood from petshop
weekend food prep?

swanriver · 10/09/2010 12:06

Just reading my post, didn't mean to imply that tension is only a result of working..as I say those things all the time SadBlush and am constantly badgering poor kids...

Jas · 10/09/2010 12:18

OFM - I eventually bought some in BHS. I did find lots, but not white in a 30AA!
DD2 is 10 this month and more developed than her sister....she prefers to wear crop tops though, so is much easier. She is also happy to wear things with patterns and cute pictures still.
Both of my girls are tall, too, but dd1 has lots of friends who are smaller than her but more developed. I think girls do develop earlier now.

reality I'm not sure ds really needed they day off now Hmm. HE said he was feeling sick and had diarhea - but he not been running for the toilet at all. HE has been sat next to me working on his homework, chattering non stop whilst I am trying to write my essay and type up my notes. Good job I am very good at selective deafness Grin

Nutty good luck with your list

OFM enjoy your day off, try and find a little bit of time to do something just for you too.

Swan your friend is very right, well for me any way I do tend to badger the poor children about things. I am worse when I am not at uni, think as I am at home more so notice that things are not put away all day, wheras when I'm at uni I don't notice things so much

I have typed up all my notes from my placemtn before the summer and written my essay. It really wasn't that hard to rattle off a 500-750 wird essay, why was I putting it off so much Hmm
quick update and then off for some lunch before I crack on with the house

done;
breakfasts
pack lunches
tidy through downstairs
hoover downstairs
dd to school
wash up
load washer x2
unload washer x1
sorted out kitchen drawers- why did I have 16 medicine spoons? must stop keeping clutter
unload washer
sort any washing I manage to dry
write essay

to do
mission
collect dd
dinner
clear coffee table
might go and pop to see my nan with dc after school, havent seen much of her lately. Must go before next week.

swanriver · 10/09/2010 12:31

kitchen tidied recycling, bins etc done

now off to pick up catfood, not going to get sidetracked by cleaning under cat dish!

swanriver · 10/09/2010 12:57

Dyls they love to chat don't they...boys of 10-12. Very sweet. reminds me why I love ds1...who now prefaces conversations with words..Mummy would you mind if I talk to you for a bit about Merlin/football/High School..

must GO

wendyhappysmile · 10/09/2010 12:59

Hi all
feeling rubbish today, had to go back to bed for a nap this morning after a quick shop with mum.
My mum has irritated me by turning up on the doorstep to check I'm ok when she is just trying to help I know.
Control freaks don't accept help very well!

BB later

realitychick · 10/09/2010 13:27

washing load on
bathroom done
kitchen done
bit of real paid work done (but not enough!)

Still have those clean laundry baskets to empty. Why is that the hardest job? I'll come and clean your loos happily if you'll come and sort my laundry and put it in the right drawers.

Jas · 10/09/2010 13:39

Bathroom
sort out cupboard
Kitchen

reboot laundry

Getting there.

dylsmum1998 · 10/09/2010 13:42

Swan it is lovely that he wants to chat, he seemed to not want to talk to me the other week, just general huff puffing. Think it was school nerves kicking in.

Reality I think I am abnormal I love doing laundry. I et excited when I get to the bottom of the dirty basket, then evrything dry esp. when it comes off the washing line outdoor, it smells so good. I possibly love it so much as it is the one job that doesn't get messed within 5 mins of dc coming home from school Grin

Have cleaned the coffee table and the done the days mission. Now have cookies in the oven.

think I am going to transfer all the daes form the school letters into my diary and calendar in hope I won't miss anything (HA!HA!)

OP posts:
swanriver · 10/09/2010 13:56

floors are mopped
now off to check bedrooms...

wendy and what's wrong with a nap? Don't feel guilty.

OverflowingMum · 10/09/2010 14:27

afternoon all

swan badgering...yes. This week I think I could have won prizes for badgering! Have now resolved to have a badger free wk/end and to badger much less next week!
LOL at locking yourelf out of house!

reality sorting and putting away clean washing is my worst job too!

dyls want to come put mywashing away too then? glad ds is feeling better (or was never ill!)

wendy I think when pg you are allowed to get irritated by absolutely anything...rational and well intentioned or not! Hope the nap helped.

jas doing well with list

well, have done lots with the hindrance enthusiastic help of ds2!

reboot laundry done
clean washing away done!
ironing - loads! done
tidy bedrooms done
dust throughout Hmm
hoover throughout Hmm
dd's school forms-next! done

scattyspice · 10/09/2010 17:59

reality its a deal, my toilet for your laundry Smile
swan Your friend is so right, i do this too Blush
ofm make sure you squeeze in a little time for you!

Hi all others Smile.

DD has come home with a letter saying she has problems with motor skills now (to add to the defective hearing and shortness that the school identified last year, oh yes and DS's learning difficulties). Honestly I used to consider my kids quite normal until I sent them to school Confused.

No flying done so far.

OverflowingMum · 10/09/2010 19:28

quick hello

scatty schools are very good atmaking you feel DC are not "normal" I actually opted all my dc out of school nurse weighing and measuring after they tried to tell me my dd1 was too tall(aged 5)!
Lots of kids struggle with motor stuff...no big deal...DS1 has lousy motor skills, but still does extremely well at school!
They did try to tell me that he had "severe difficulties" because he couldn't draw a lion at his 2 yr assessment with HV....but although he is still rubbish at art he has reading age of 16+(aged 12 now), is in top set for maths , and will be doing science GCSE 2 years early I have just been told...so hey, was no point worrying that he couldnt draw a lion aged 2 really....LOL
I think they will be what they will be...and we just have to help them as much as possible to achieve what they are capable of...whatever that may be! Makes me remember whay I hate general child health surveilance and screening...

swan yea for avoiding ice cream van...I got sucked in yesterday...but hoping for last time this year!

right...off for wine....and maybe non low fatpizza..ooops!

BBtomorrow Grin

swanriver · 10/09/2010 19:39

a lion Shock LOL, don't think ds1 could draw one now either...
however Bart Simpson might be a bit easier...

have signed up to "Can't fit in Jeans Sept" weightloss thingy on BigSlim bit of Mumsnet Nutty do you want to join me? I can fit in my jeans actually, just need to go on losing weight though...

scattyspice · 10/09/2010 19:42

Thanks OFM, you are right. The reason why I don't notice my kids 'abnormalities' is that I was just like them at their ages (nobody labeled it dyslexia or dyspraxia in the 70s!).

Still no flying done.

dylsmum1998 · 10/09/2010 20:34

Scatty how old is dd? I wouldn't worry about it I think there are far too many of these measuring things going on
I was told this with ds when he started infants because he didn't want to sit in the particular way he wanted or some such nonsense. They suggested he did BEAM (can't remember exactly what that stands for now) but basically it was like extra pe lessons. Which suited him more than having to sit on the carpet so I let him do it as he said he enjoyed it. Not sure it actually made any difference to him other than he was no longer expected to sit still, something he still not good at Grin

We had a lovely evening here, dd came home with homework which she couldn't wait to sit and do. plus her 2 reading books. Am debating whether or not to tell teacher that the books she keeps sending home dd already has and has been able to read them since summer. Or maybe I'll leave it and let them think she's a prodigy Grin

WE then all sat together with homemade popcorn and our latest lovefilm- High school musical.

Now catching up with BB

back tomorrow

OP posts:
swanriver · 11/09/2010 10:37

No flying here (from me at anyrate)
made porridge
but kids are desperate to get stars and keep doing al a bit of the housework Shock

It's a strange time of year. Suddenly I've realised the pressure is off, for once, just trying to adapt. Dcs can even go to music school by themselves...House looks a bit more habitable after last week's purge, there's no homework really yet...Dh in friendly mood!Hmm

we had popcorn last night too. Dh's packed train from York held up by 2andhalf hours extra - not the simple day trip he had anticipated.

I'm going to take ds2 to garden centre now to buy some winter warmers beddingplants

swanriver · 11/09/2010 10:41

dyls when ds was little I used to query all his reading books/library books (too easy, he's read that, not what he was interested in..etc)When I actually was responsible for handing out (admittedly just the library bit not reading scheme)the books to 60 odd reception children I was a bit more humble about the impossibility of getting it right! Still I think it's worth mentioning...

swanriver · 11/09/2010 10:43

Ds2 wants to look up Royal Airforce Museum now - cue me getting DRESSED.
