Welcome to the September 2010 Fledgling Flying thread!

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of the Fat Fairy, with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here! )

Many thanks to our previous splendiforous thread leader Ellie for guiding us through July and August and to her dynamic deputy, the one and only PA. You've both made it a lot of fun!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach (and don't worry - we are all at different stages):

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

Together we can do it! All newcomers welcome!

AFternoon everyone!

Having quite a successful day here. Have managed to get everything done on list apart from shopping...tomorrow it is then. Have packed DH off on his BF's stag night (for which he is best man) and am about to take DC's to see my mum for a couple of hours.

bobloblaw why are you Blush at ironing labels in...i write his name in permanent marker Grin.

sc concert sounds divine Smile

feetheart w/e of parties sounds lovely yet exhausting. I still don't know what to do with our cooking apples!

pluto that does sound a heavy marking load especially in Eng Lit. I have just set free a top set Year 11 and inherited a bottom set Year 10 so am hoping mine may be a little lighter! (history so not quite as much writing as you but far behind!)

linzer hope you are feeling better soon.

Big waves to everyone else!

Nettiespagetti · 04/09/2010 18:20

PositiveAttitude · 04/09/2010 18:24

Good evening Grin

Just popping in to say Hi. Thanks for all your well wishes.

All this talk of labels is making me Blush Blush Blush as I have yet to buy the uniform. Oh dear!! Only Monday and Tuesday left!!! Must get myself organised.

Washing machine has been working overtime getting DHs stuff ready for his departure again tomorrow.

We had friends round for lunch today, which was nice, but knocked me for 6! This was planned a few weeks ago and I didnt want to make excuses, or have to explain the truth about why I was crying off, so now feeling exhausted.

Feet up , x-factor and grilled chicken for me tonight!! - That butter pear thingy sounds yum, what's that?

MAssive wavs to everyone, sorry for lack of personals, again!! Blush

PS Post its are awful around the house, makes more mess than you clear!!

Slugbrains · 04/09/2010 18:53

Ds goes back to school and i have yet to check uniform, let down trousers, and label everything Hmm It will get done tomo. And he will be sleeping in his own room tomo night. this sharing a single bed is exhausting. Very late painting last night, craft fair today. no flying done and just the white coving 2nd coat done. hoping it wont need third but will have to check in half hour.

Early night tonight me things must discover the house under the chaos - plus i think we are running out of clean cups, plates etc... Blush ah well we're all safe and fed with somewhere warm to sleep. will do for tonight.

NickOfTime · 04/09/2010 19:43

glad it's post-its today, an excuse to ignore, ignore, ignore.

well. it's lunch time and i'm half way through my 'omg dinner party' blitz. Grin

can't stop to natter, but am flying with a vengeance (not Ernest - saving him until monday)

at some point i am going to have to actually cook though...

better get on. have a stupid summer cold which isn't helping, so dosing up on lemsip and wondering how many glasses of wine i can have before i lapse into unconsciousness... Blush

MiniMarmite · 04/09/2010 19:48

Oops, sorry I'm late!

MrsDinky · 04/09/2010 21:04

Testing, testing. MrsD has got an Ipad, just seeing if it works on MN.

MrsDinky · 04/09/2010 21:12

Yes, is the answer. Well, I have finished labelling, ironing and hanging up the school uniform today (probably the last time it will be ironed this school year TBH, but nice for the first day back).

DH is busy re-arranging all his hi-fi components, telly etc AGAIN tonight, but at least he has agreed to hoover the corner of the room before he puts it all back together, expecting much cursing later when he realises he hasn't got a clue which wire belongs to which component. He has also stacked about a ton of logs and re-felted the roof of the log store today, while I have been slaving away on the Ipad.......

Which is not actually very easy to type on (must cut nails), will report back from the normal PC later (or tomorrow). Hope you have all had an enjoyable day.

Dartsissolastseason · 04/09/2010 22:05

Hi all,

I confess to actually not having done very much today Blush, with the exception of gathering together all the kit needed by DD for her residential school trip next week (and labelling, etc, etc). I think I needed a break.

DP off tomorrow, and given he doesn't get much time off at the moment (whole other issue, but it's not by his choice Sad), I'm hoping we can at least have a family walk out somewhere/go do something together.

Did manage to get shopping done, catch up and have coffee with a couple of cousins/aunts (ladies of the family meet every Sat morning for coffee in town, mum's away this week). DD attended a coffee morning being run by the Guides, in uniform. DS was under the weather today with tummy ache and a bit clingy, which is very unlike him.

And if anyone does want to come and cheer the darts team on, you're more than welcome Grin but I have to check with the Captain first, as I don't have a clue where we are playing (or when the season actually starts Blush). OOPS! where did I put those darts......?

Logging off for now, doing dishwasher before going to bed. Have a good "rest of the weekend" to all, hopefully.

BobLoblaw · 05/09/2010 00:10

Well I'm still up with dd who had a seizure this evening :(

But I did manage to do everything on my list today, and I bought a new mini folder thing A5 I think to start putting together my control journal!

Tomorrow

-Morning routine then out for breakfast. Hurrah
-Prep all veg for roast
-Make custard
-Sort ds school things, it's all ironed and labelled but I need to pack it up, dinner money etc

Then I will check tomorrow's mission or attempt to bring some sort of order to the bookshelves in the dining room, which will all have been decluttered and cleaned then Grin

Hope you had a lovely evening Nettie
I am extremely jealous MrsDinky I might swap dp for an iPad Envy
Hope everyone gets a leisurely Sunday lie in.

Nettiespagetti · 05/09/2010 01:05

Lol @bob swapping do for an iPad!! hope dd has a rest soon if that's the right way to word it.

I had lovely night out back just before 12 I have relieved babysitter.
Room rescue main bed after searching in vain for handbag which would match dress!!
Put away clothes
And just been folding socks at 1am ShockShockShock

Nite all back tomorrow got to get prepared for week alone with dc!! Confused

Nettiespagetti · 05/09/2010 01:06

dp i meant dp!! I would certainly swap do doo for an iPad!

elliepac · 05/09/2010 01:46

Grrrrrrrr drunk men...............

LinzerTorte · 05/09/2010 06:33

Good morning,

I had a much more productive day yesterday as the headache didn't return, thank goodness (I was worried it might develop into a migraine-type one that drags on for days). I've also worked out why my decluttering is so unsuccessful - no sooner have I got rid of something than something else (or more usually, several things) take its place. I seem to be using a three-in-one-out principle. I'm trying to persuade DH that the DC should only receive presents at Christmas and birthdays, but feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. We packed DD2's Schultüte yesterday (a large cone filled with presents that children receive when they start school) and DH has also got a few back-to-school presents ready for DD1 and DS (back-to-kindergarten in DS's case). And don't me started on Easter (not quite on a scale with Christmas presents-wise, but it's getting there). I just despair sometimes - the DC have far too much as it is.

On the list for today: washing, washing and yet more washing as both DS and DD2 managed to wet the bed last night. I'm hoping it's just the sheets, but suspect there might be pillows and duvets involved too.

ellie Any drunk men in particular?

Nettie I wish I had your energy - folding socks at 1 am! Shock

Bob I ought to try and sort out our bookcase too as it's overflowing. I keep trying to persuade DH to get rid of some of his more yellowing and no-longer-needed books (I think he knows he's never going to take up Swedish again, but he does like to hang on to things for sentimental purposes. Mind you, I'm just as bad and am still hanging on to my Norwegian books just in case...)

Darts I had to explain what darts was to the DC a few days ago when it came up in a Horrid Henry story, which made me realise they don't play it here in Austria. No pubs here either (not proper ones, anyway). Sad

MrsD I'm another one who is very Envy of your iPad, but I don't think I can justify the expense as I already have an iPod and netbook.

Nick Hope your cold is better soon.

PA I'm so glad I don't have the hassle of buying uniform - although I have the feeling it would make life easier if we had it here.

Slugbrains Hope DS gets on OK in his own bed; I can't even share a double bed with any of mine as they end up taking 90% of the space.

ellie Very impressed with everything you managed to get done yesterday.

SC The concert sounded wonderful, especially in such an atmospheric setting. Hope you got the rest of your school shopping done - it's a never-ending task, isn't it? We're still waiting for the lists from the DDs' arts & crafts teachers.

Sorry, no time to scroll back any further as DS is up so I must make a start on the washing. Waves to everyone else. Smile

Stillcounting · 05/09/2010 07:37

Hello!

Today's baby-step (number 5) is about consolidating what we have done and changing our attitude to ourselves and our house ie no negativity allowed!

No zones or missions today because it is Sunday and it is 'renew your spirit day' in Flylady language

Back in two seconds ...

OP posts:
Nettiespagetti · 05/09/2010 08:35

[proud of me emotion]

So far this morning

Dc up breakfast/dressed to shoes/teeth brushed
Me up showered dressed to shoes by 7.30 wow!!!
Dw emptied and refilled and on
Kitchen swiped
Bathroom swiped

Now sitting down waiting till time for swim lessons.

Still to
Swim lessons
Home for a bit
Write birthday card for birthday boy!
Drop dd off with dh
Take ds tomparty
Home convince dh to eat out Grin £15 vouchers might help.

Hope you all have lovely day back later.

Stillcounting · 05/09/2010 08:46

Well, that was longer than two seconds because I just spent the last 30-mins typing out a post and have promptly lost it! And I'm rushing this morning because up late (1.30 am before guests left last night/this morning) still have loads of clearing up to do, dd and I are going riding in an hour and we have yet more guests coming for lunch (fairly casual thankfully!)

I can't keep up with all you earlybirds! Apologies if you logged in for today's baby-step this morning and it wasn't yet there.

Thanks for round-up last night Linzer - I didn't get back on here because I was frantically making Thai crab cakes for 12 ...
Glad you are feeling better today and sympathies on the toy clutter front - dd had her b'day party last weekend and she now has loads of new toys and presents - not looking forward to the tricky forthcoming negotiations about getting rid of some of the old ones ...Schultüte tradition does sound lovely though ... And thanks for asking, I have broken back of school supplies shopping and spent Euros 80 Shock in the process!! Horror list not entirely complete though because (typically Belgian this) the two main schools supply shops are waiting on orders for various note-books and files arriving this week. Have much book-covering to do tonight as well!

Nettie early hours sock folding can be very therapeutic imo - good luck with the week ahead - my dh is starting to travel fairly seriously again this wk. He's going to be away three days virtually every wk between now and Christmas Sad although relatively easy with only one dd...

Boblob hope your dd is ok and sorry you had yet another disturbed night. here is the sneak peak for the week ahead if you want to get started today! Hope you manage to catch up on some sleep tonight and good luck putting your cj together.

Dart No negative thoughts about yourself allowed remember! You are very much entitled to a day off once in a while!! I like the sound of your aunts/cousins gatherings on Sat mornings. Hope you manage to have a lovely family day together today. PA is a fellow darts enthusiast. Up the ocki and all that (how do you spell ocki??)

MrsDinky congrats on finishing all the school prep and wishing you patience with the wires and chargers everywhere ...

Yay! Mini-M 'tis GREAT to see you!! How are you doing? Taking it steady I hope?? [stern look ]

Hands over fresh oj and new supply of handkerschiefs to Nick - hope you feel better today and remember to drink lots of whisky

Slug hope ds enjoys his new bed and his new room and that you get to sleep soundly once more

PA we miss your regular bright and breezy presence on here. Hope you are taking it steady [more stern looks] feet up with a cuppa in front of the darts is my prescription for today ....

Nettie hope you had a lovely evening last night ...

Elliepac I imagine there is much brewing of strong coffee going on in your household this morning ....at least your dh didn't end up tied to a lamp-post wearing nothing but a pink feather boa ... or did he??? GrinWell done on getting all the school stuff organised. Hope you find an hour or so today for YOU to relax ...

Arggh, running out of time. Must go and coax dd in to her jodhpurs and iron a tablecloth ...

Waves to everyone here and everyone I have missed including Pluto Dolanette Feetheart and where are Optimistic and Mummy?? See you later and have a good Sunday

Hello early birds!

ipad Envy MrsD

I remember those early starts for swimming lessons Nettie. DS is in a club now and trains on a Monday eve. The idea is that I use that time to read while I sit in the viewing gallery. Invariably it is spent just gazing into the middle distance / snoozing.

So here's the list...

ironing (notice how this gets moved over to the next day everyday?)
School work. DH is taking the DCs out so I have time to get on with it this morning.
Roast chicken
Tidy in garden
Sunday evening routines.

Have a good day everyone.

Stillcounting · 05/09/2010 08:49

Well done Nettie - x posts!

Morning everyone!

Well, DH got incredibly drunk last night, rolling in very late and generally behaving like he was back in his youth! Will forgive him (when he eventually gets out of bed) because it was his BF's stag do and he doesn't do it very often but I a rather bleary eyed to say the least!

So far today I have:-
Tidied
Made beds
S/S bathroom
WM on
Washing up done
Done some schoolwork (where the blardy hell has 6 weeks gone?)
Mopped living room floor
Rubbish out

Back later for a proper catch-up, am now going out to get the final bits and bobs for school and over to my sister's for coffee.

Slugbrains · 05/09/2010 13:03

Hello all I havnt posted for a few days, been mad busy. Have been to gym a few times and had 2 play dates in one day at my house Shock - I got up that day at 6.20am (which is flippin fantastic for me)!

So sorry I havnt posted daily or been on for a chat. I have kept up with my AM routine quite well but need to work on PM routine, ironing and still need to declutter and decorated spare room for DS.
