Good morning,
I had a much more productive day yesterday as the headache didn't return, thank goodness (I was worried it might develop into a migraine-type one that drags on for days). I've also worked out why my decluttering is so unsuccessful - no sooner have I got rid of something than something else (or more usually, several things) take its place. I seem to be using a three-in-one-out principle. I'm trying to persuade DH that the DC should only receive presents at Christmas and birthdays, but feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. We packed DD2's Schultüte yesterday (a large cone filled with presents that children receive when they start school) and DH has also got a few back-to-school presents ready for DD1 and DS (back-to-kindergarten in DS's case). And don't me started on Easter (not quite on a scale with Christmas presents-wise, but it's getting there). I just despair sometimes - the DC have far too much as it is.
On the list for today: washing, washing and yet more washing as both DS and DD2 managed to wet the bed last night. I'm hoping it's just the sheets, but suspect there might be pillows and duvets involved too.
ellie Any drunk men in particular?
Nettie I wish I had your energy - folding socks at 1 am!
Bob I ought to try and sort out our bookcase too as it's overflowing. I keep trying to persuade DH to get rid of some of his more yellowing and no-longer-needed books (I think he knows he's never going to take up Swedish again, but he does like to hang on to things for sentimental purposes. Mind you, I'm just as bad and am still hanging on to my Norwegian books just in case...)
Darts I had to explain what darts was to the DC a few days ago when it came up in a Horrid Henry story, which made me realise they don't play it here in Austria. No pubs here either (not proper ones, anyway).
MrsD I'm another one who is very
of your iPad, but I don't think I can justify the expense as I already have an iPod and netbook.
Nick Hope your cold is better soon.
PA I'm so glad I don't have the hassle of buying uniform - although I have the feeling it would make life easier if we had it here.
Slugbrains Hope DS gets on OK in his own bed; I can't even share a double bed with any of mine as they end up taking 90% of the space.
ellie Very impressed with everything you managed to get done yesterday.
SC The concert sounded wonderful, especially in such an atmospheric setting. Hope you got the rest of your school shopping done - it's a never-ending task, isn't it? We're still waiting for the lists from the DDs' arts & crafts teachers.
Sorry, no time to scroll back any further as DS is up so I must make a start on the washing. Waves to everyone else.
