Welcome to the September 2010 Fledgling Flying thread!

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of the Fat Fairy, with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here! )

Many thanks to our previous splendiforous thread leader Ellie for guiding us through July and August and to her dynamic deputy, the one and only PA. You've both made it a lot of fun!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach (and don't worry - we are all at different stages):

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

Together we can do it! All newcomers welcome!

Down side of living on an island.. FOG!!! Angry queued for an absolute age to get on a boat that then spent over an hour doing a 20 minute journey, and had to pay £30 for the privilege. Up to the hospital over an hour late for the appointment only to be told Dr is running 1 hour 25 minutes late for his clinic and we will have to go to the end of the queue!! Grrrrr!! Seriously cut into my shopping time!!

Into town and made up for it. Spent waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy too much rather a lot of money! Blush But got some luverly stuff!! Wink
Home now to crash out. I have cancelled arrangements to go to a meeting tonight as i am dead pooped!

Have a good evening everyone see you tomorrow with shiny sink!! Grin

Stillcounting · 30/09/2010 17:52

Evening all

Thanks for all your kind words! It's been a pleasure and you've all done brilliantly!

Can't believe how quickly September has sped by. I must confess that although I did really well with the decluttering just before and during the summer holidays, I've only kept the regular routines ticking over this month ie I haven't really managed any in-depth reorganisation which I really need to do to maintain momentum.

This is partly due to dh's travels which means I have to do more office hrs but largely it's because I've allowed myself to slack off!

So I hereby vow to do all the baby-steps and routines more efficiently in October in order that I can finish declutterng the 25% of the home office that's left to do, finish the roof and start properly on the basement before it gets too cold! I am going to need LOTS of collective boots up the rear PLEASE!!!!

I've been at work today so only a quarter way through Flying.

Need to:
tidy up kitchen which I left in a bit of a state this morning Blush done
prepare supper (veggie night tonight) done
put laundry on done
do rest of afternoon/evening routine half done
tidy sitting room
online orders
wash office towels and t-towels
clear home office desk hotspot and make sure dining room table hotspot clear too
clean dd shoes
iron dd shirt
Masterchef if it's on

Ouch sounds like you are having a tough time health-wise. You are officially excused from Flying! Hunker down and get better soon x

Swan you planted the bulbs!! Brilliant!! Must do the same this w/e. Is it too late for alliums I wonder?

Dart plum and almond thingy sounds absolutely delicious. I love seasonal puds (but don't often get around to making them). Did you post the recipe anywhere?

Dart and Ouch I've inherited tendency to severe migraines/sinus headaches (doctors can't decide which it is!) from my late father but in my case they are triggered by hormone changes. Can really sympathise with anyone who suffers from them. I apologise in advance for tmi but may I quietly utter the word "suppositories" in your ear? Yes, I have gone "continental" and am now out there and proud on a public forum BlushGrin It's the norm here to adminster drugs up the rear end for dc and adults so you become quite blasé about it! Seriously though they are life-savers and the only thing that works for me when the pain is so severe that I am puking every 10 mins and can't keep anything down. The migraine med is called natril diclofenacum available in varying strengths - called Voltaren here. Just having them in my drawer makes me feel better because they work so well and if you take them earlier enough they can prevent an all-out attack!

Mini-M definitely agree with everyone who is urging you to keep the cleaner! Don't feel guilty! Mine is rather intermittent and it makes such a huge (positive) difference when she is here.

Yo Ellie grannies sound great. Hope your day calmed down a bit.

Linzer take it steady and don't do too much too soon. Yes, you never know what might happen and sods law - it usually happens when one is most disorganised (well it does with me anyway Grin). I'm going to try and take a leaf out of your book and get ahead this weekend. Dh is coming back tomorrow but is off again all next week and I need to be mega-organised.

Feetheart speed-read your list incorrectly and wondered why you were repairing bananas!
Just discovered there's no MC tonight but new series of Nigella starting instead. Dh and I always laugh at the group of production assistants supposed friends she drags in off the street invites in to sample her grub. Also when she is feeding her dc an "old standby" and you can tell by the expression on their faces they've never seen anything remotely like it before! I shouldn't be horrible though because most of my top 20 recipes are hers - v. intelligently thought through and easy to cook.

PA Lordy! Fog and hospital wait sound very draining but glad you made up for it in the shops!! R & R tonight for you!

Sorry! Most stop wittering and chivvy dd in to the bath ...

Waves to everyone I've missed. Back later!

See you with a shiny sink tomorrow!

Stillcounting · 30/09/2010 21:16

Why thank you Elliepac (on both counts Grin!) Your round-ups still reign supreme!

I'm off to bed in a minute because I have another full day in the office tomorrow. Been reasonably productive today:

tidy up kitchen which I left in a bit of a state this morning done
prepare supper (veggie night tonight) done
put laundry on done
do rest of afternoon/evening routine done
tidy sitting room done
online orders done
wash office towels and t-towels done
clear home office desk hotspot and make sure dining room table hotspot clear too done
clean dd shoes done
iron dd shirt¨done
Masterchef if it's on - no but endured Nigella

Right, that's me out of here. Well done for great Flying throughout the month everyone!

We are now over here!!

Can't think of any suppository jokes here either (I'm sure there must be piles of them out there though....).

Not going to do much of a roundup tonight as

a) SC has done such a good job already
b) probably no one will read it as you all go into the October thread.

Also, a big thanks to SC for September's leadership.

I will probably be posting links the night before as I am not very good at the getting up early babystep, also if DS catches me using the computer in the morning he will want to have a go which is a nono on school days.

See you in October

Stillcounting · 30/09/2010 21:32

It's the way you tell 'em MrsD!! Grin

Thanks for your kind words and for taking over!
