Do you iron...

your bedlinen?

My Mum came round today, and popped up to use the loo. While she was up there, she popped her head round my bedroom door (as usual, she always does this) and came down and said 'Ooh Eve, you are a lazy cow aren't you?'

I asked her what she meant and she had a go at me for not ironing my bedlinen. I have to say, this isn't high on my list of priorities.

So who irons their bed sets?

Send it round to hers then.
I used to pay a nice lady to iron my duvets and dh's shirts, but no longer.
I find if they are dried outdoors they don't need ironing.

I dont iron anything so I suppose I cant comment on the bed sheet debate!

DandyDan · 28/08/2010 15:52

I iron duvet covers and pillowcases. Occasionally I'll iron a flat sheet but not always. Daughter has one thick cotton fitted sheet that is rubbish unless you iron it - it's a pig to do but worth it.

I iron most things.

DuncanDisorderly · 28/08/2010 15:55

I don't iron anything.

I'd have told my mum to keep her sticky beak out of my bedroom.

whomovedmychocolate · 28/08/2010 15:58

I iron everything (including knickers).

A decent iron makes it very easy. And TBH bed linen feels horrible if not ironed.

I starch it too!

Itsjustafleshwound · 28/08/2010 16:01

No!! Take sheets out from tumbledrier and give a good shake and put it on the bed ...

Giddyup · 28/08/2010 16:01

I only iron v.v.v. occasionally. If going to a wedding or something or its totally unavoidable (about 4 times a year). DP does himself a shirt if going out slightly more often. But, ironed bed sheets are heavenly...MIL has done them for me before when babysitting and getting the washing in. We are just too too lazy unfortunately!

DinahRod · 28/08/2010 16:09

Have crisp linen but I don't iron it.

Seona1973 · 28/08/2010 16:11

only dh's shirts and the kids school/nursery stuff gets ironed. Life's too short to iron anything else.

usualsuspect · 28/08/2010 16:11

no

hmmSleep · 28/08/2010 16:15

Never.

Confession, I lied to a group of friends the other day, one was commenting that she hadn't changed her bed linen for a fortnight and everyone gasped how awful.

I said 'gosh I haven't changed mine for 3 weeks'. It's actually been 2 months Blush.

iwasyoungonce · 28/08/2010 16:20

Another one who doesn't iron anything here.

My mum is appalled.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 28/08/2010 16:23

Ended up getting a fancy iron last month at John Lewis. Had to laugh as it states on the box that it's 'bi directional.' Grin Hmm

FloraFinching · 28/08/2010 16:25

Not unless expecting overnight guests.

But then I only iron clothes for weddings, funerals and interviews.

MrsJessRabinovitch · 28/08/2010 16:25

LOL hmm as I was reading this thread I was thinking "what...people change their bedsheets"? Grin

I LOVE crisp clean ironed bedding but can I be arsed doing it....nah! However if my MIL who loves ironing (she irons knickers.....knickers? WTF!) offers to iron my sheets then iron away dear lady as they do feel nicer!

So no Eve, don't iron them and its a good day Chez Mrs R when the beds get changed [disgusted in self emocion]!

Giddyup · 28/08/2010 16:26

My mum thinks I am a filthy slattern too. She compares her life when I was a child (SAHM) to mine now... child, heavily pregnant, full time uni, part time job DP working away about 6 days a week. It really pisses me off, as I do loads more with DS than she did with us anyway... sorry hijack and rant over

ant3nna · 28/08/2010 16:35

I like ironing my bedsheets. Even fitted sheets get ironed. I think freshly ironed sheets feel fab and if you use nice ironing water, they hold that smell for days.

This is especially important I think in winter when they may not have got a good airing on the line.

kittywise · 28/08/2010 16:36

.yes, can't stand crumpled clean sheets!
