Show me your brown ceilings

I'm really keen to have the ceiling in our (large) spare room painted chocolate brown. A nice, warm brown. The walls are taupe. I'm going for a warm, cozy vibe. So far I haven't found the perfect chocolate brown.

So I'm hoping someone here has a (chocolate) brown ceiling and won't mind sharing a picture. Thank you!

Gold ceiling would be warm. Definitely not poo coloured.

Count is on to something here.

Far ceilings lower ceiling height, and dull a room.

This can actually be great for an already dark small and dull room: you get a cosy room, quite womb-like, if you use rich colours. Blood red, warm earthy brown, deep green, believer blue. You need strategic lighting and brass and golds to zing light around.

I absolutely would not paint a large room’s ceiling a dark colour. Sorry.

I would check the effect of a dark ceiling first. I would get a big roll of brown paper and "wallpaper" the ceiling with the brown paper held on with masking tape. Then live with it for a week or two. See if the darkness is cosy or oppressive.

The first photo that @chickenyhead posted does actually look nice, but that's only because the brown is a cold toned brown, and the walls are completely white. Brown ceiling and taupe walls is going to feel dark, gloomy, depressing and oppressive.

Op you should just go for it. I painted our hallway ceiling a very dark grey. Everyone told me not to do it, that it would feel oppressive. The hallway is tiny with no windows. I did it anyway and it looks fab. Makes the hallway look bigger because the walls are brilliant white. You have a vision, see it through.

I don't think brown is a great colour for anything tbh, especially a ceiling. Are there other colours you could consider?
