Royal Mail has lost my passport sent for renewal, please help!

Hi, I sent my child’s expired passport by tracked signed for guaranteed next day delivery on Monday. It should have been delivered Tuesday. Royal Mail tracking service just says it is in transit. I am kind of assuming it is lost as no update since Tuesday.
I had made an application to renew my child’s passport online and was sending the expired old passport as directed.
Please can anyone advise what I need to do now ?

We sent ours the same day to Durham and ours still says the same as yours.

Mine was sent to Durham on 28/3 special delivery and updated yesterday to say documents received so don’t give up hope yet. Waiting for approval and printing now though…

Thank you @MummaOf4Horrors @ihearttc & @Tiredmum17! Fingers crossed they update soon then for all of us :) Good to know it’s not just us - yours are identical .. I think once they are in the approval/ printing phase it will be a relief to know at least they aren’t lost!!

I sent mine with tracked delivery. I never received any updates but my passport arrived and was processed just fine.

So sent DH signed for to Durham on the 30th RM still shows it as not being signed for, and HMPO still says send old passport!!! I think I’m going to report it as lost or should I leave it for a little while?

It just keeps saying that until they get round to processing it. I think processing time is much slower at the moment.

@Helenmother4 I felt exactly the same and then they changed the status to received. Mine took 13 days to change and RM still says in transit

To be honest we don’t travel till August, but all you see on fb and other socials is how it’s taking 10 wks…. The only worry I have is that in fact they haven’t received his old one which apparently takes 2 weeks to cancel his renewal to redo the application as lost! 🤦‍♀️

@Helenmother4 I would give it another few days. Mine were posted to Durham on 28th March and were only updated to ‘received’ yesterday. Fingers crossed you will get an email this week…

Posted mine to Durham on 26th and got a text Monday to say it is received. Anyone know what the turnaround time is once they acknowledge receipt of the passport? We fly in 5 weeks so starting to get anxious now!

Hi all We sent 5 passport renewal 29th March All but 2 weee to separate offices. All sent guaranteed next day by 1pm

Here is where we are up to with them all

Mine- sent 29th March- email today 8th April approved and sent for printing

DS1- sent 29th March- douments received text from HMPO 1st April. Been processing since 2nd April

DS2- sent 29th March. Royal Mail website says on transit and HMPO says send documents (stressed!!!!!)

DS3 and DD1- sent to same office 29th March. Delivered by Royal Mail next day. Updated as documents received 6th April however not changed to processing

Booked to travel end of may and stressed that we won’t have them all back on time- especially if DS 2 application has gone walkies in the post 😩😩😩

Reassured you hear others have had similar- will keep checking in and see how others get on

Mine, ds2 ds3 and dd have all since been processed approved and printed!!!
Yet DS1 is still 'processing'

Absolutely no rhyme or reason to how they do it all tbh! Just hoping that DS1 approves ASAP and they all arrive back before mid May!!

Update: My passport has been printed, just waiting for confirmation that is has been posted. I submitted the application on 14th March to Corby Office. I travel 3 weeks tomorrow so praying it arrives.

Hiya. Just wondering if anyone's postage to the passport office has gone to Warrington depot? We posted birth certificate special next day delivery on 7th April but Royal mail website still says out for delivery on 8th

Update-- So we have

1 passport delivered (mine)
2 arriving tomorrow (DS3 and DD1)
1 arriving weds (DS2)

DS 1 was received 1st and had been processing since 1st April 🤨 the others were received processed approved and printed since then 😂😂

@MummaOf4Horrors how long after yours was printed did you get a notification to say it was out for delivery? Mine said printed on Thursday so hoping I hear today that it is being delivered x

Happened to dh. It was 'missing' for about 2 weeks and then he suddenly got an acknowledgement of receipt and new passport less than a week later! Very odd. He sent ds1's on the same day from the same p.o and the delivery was acknowledged a couple of days later, so he was really worried about his one. Clearly there are some issues with the pp office or royal mail.

I sent mine of on 2nd March, Royal Mail tracking still says We've got it, no acknowledgement of delivery etc. Took Passport agency about 2 weeks to say they had received it and got my new passport about 23rd of march and my old passport back last week

Hi I’m having similar issues!
I sent my passport to Durham office on 11th April. RM tracking said it had been signed for by durham on 12th April.
The passport office sent me a text today saying I still need to send off my old passport but according to Royal Mail theyve signed for it already
im feeling pretty stressed and anxious and can’t even ring up to talk to anyone or use the web chat as they say it’s too busy
im meant to fly on 7th july
has anyone else had this problem of receiving a text?
please help someone!
