Anyone else got a list of holiday destinations they are really not bothered about visiting - even for free?

Mine includes:
Las Vegas - too bloody tacky
Florida - too humid
Norway - too many dark trees
China - pollution?
Australia - 22 hours in a plane? No thanks
Hong Kong - too humid
Madeira - too many people my age (old)
Iceland, which everyone raves about

India. Stinking hot, over crowded and Dheli belly 🤧

Oh and possibly North Korea 😶

BIWI · 27/08/2018 16:22

Have you actually been to any of those places? Because some of them are a bit big to be dismissed so lightly! China isn't all polluted by the way, just as an example

NameChanger22 · 27/08/2018 16:25

Vegas, Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq, Dubai, Canada, the most dangerous bits of South America and Africa.

TerfsUp · 27/08/2018 16:25

Jordan - hot, dusty, full of rubble. Absolutely lacking in any kind of charm.

onetimeposter · 27/08/2018 16:28

Bolton

MrsSpenserGregson · 27/08/2018 16:29

Brighton

GreenPimpernel · 27/08/2018 16:35

I agree with BIWI — this thread makes no sense if you haven’t already been to these places and disliked them. If what you mean is ‘Places i haven’t been but am not bothered about ever getting to’, then say so.

I mean, have you actually been to Norway and the main impression you took away was ‘too many dark trees’?

MirandaWest · 27/08/2018 16:36

I would agree that someone would not lose out too much if they didn’t see Bolton

motortroll · 27/08/2018 16:40

Iceland is amazing. I've been 4 times (geography teacher!) and I love it every time!! The other tourists there are twats but the place is awesome!

Whatifigglepiggleandpeppadated · 27/08/2018 16:43

onetimeposter · 27/08/2018 16:46

I never want to visit:
Anywhere far east eg Bali, Thailand etc. Or south America, or Africa.
Would like to do China though and perhaps Japan
Never fancied India or Egypt
No desire for Australia at all
Would like to go to USA, north USA and also New York, not bothered about west coast.
Really want to go Norway/Sweden, also revisit Germany and Austria.
Not bothered about Ireland.

Windyone · 27/08/2018 16:47

Yosemite (sorry) busloads and busloads of American teenagers.

I think this thread is more "Where I've travelled to and had a bad experience even though I know miliions of people have been there and enjoyed it" Smile

DubaiismyBlackpool · 27/08/2018 16:48

I've been to a few places mentioned up thread, Bolton certainly wasn't the worst Grin.

Of the places I have been to, I certainly don't want to return to Saudi Arabia, Missouri, Benidorm, Madrid or Middlesbrough.

Dumbledoresgirl · 27/08/2018 16:50

Yes of course there are places I have no interest in going to see, but it seems a bit nasty to list them, and also, a bit ignorant as, not having seen them, I don't really know whether they are worth it or not.

I thought this was going to be a thread about places you have been to but would not recommend others to go to. You would still cause upset to some, but at least you would be speaking from experience.

HotSauceCommittee · 27/08/2018 16:53

You can give Geneva a miss. It was nice, but icy when I went and I slipped on my arse at least 10 times. It’s not a casual place, so if you are looking for a quick warm cafe experience to warm up and have a brew, be prepared for waiters with dickie bows and lovely white table cloths and a whole palaver.
Be prepared to be approached and feel like a scruff and shoplifter when you go into a shop.
I haven’t been to Dubai and it’s probably the only place I haven’t been and know that I definitely don’t want to go there.
Las Vegas was great for a few days. I went under duress for a family wedding and loved the Nevada desert, the Hoover Damn and Lake Mead.

Oblomov18 · 27/08/2018 17:09

Can't think of anywhere I've been that I wouldn't recommend.

Australia and India don't appeal much to me Though. I've been to every other place I wanted. Ie my bucket list.

PinkBuffalo · 27/08/2018 17:15

Can't believe someone said Jordan! I've been and it was amazing!
I didn't like Vegas, but know people who love it.
The place that was least memorable to me was Albany, NY. The home of the UN was very...only word to describe it is grey!

Bineverywhere · 27/08/2018 17:17

Vancouver - threatening violent criminal under-current. Nice views though.

chocoshopoholic · 27/08/2018 17:25

I'm surprised Jordan made the list. Loads of beautiful parts, warm beaches, cities that felt safe to wander and some of the friendliest people I've met. My favourite of the middle eastern countries I've been to.

Vinorosso74 · 27/08/2018 17:28

There's places that don't appeal to me but they may do to others. I don't really fancy Dubai, South Africa or Benidorm.

Thirtyrock39 · 27/08/2018 17:29

Hollywood and most of LA are a bit seedy and bleak

prettygreywalls · 27/08/2018 17:32

I couldn't rule out anywhere , love travelling to interesting places , and what's actually interesting can vary , just not very keen on going somewhere where there's a load of brits swilling beer
