OK where shall the Peaheads go this summer?

I'm not feeling inspired. I think the February rain and mud has just sucked the life out of me.

Four children, 9,6,3 and 1.5. Not France or Greece (for reasons which I won't go into). Would love to go to the US but not Cape Cod. Either hotel or Villa/rental. Needs to involve wonderful beaches or lakes, swimming pool unless on top of beach, things to do around and about, relatively kid friendly, and a place that is interesting in its own right. Guaranteed hot but not super-boiling. Europe or US/Canada. Buggyable. Assume a healthy budget.

Inspire me please?!

They have some gorgeous places don't they?

Some may even be out of the Peaheads' budget.

Most places are coastal so should have a good breeze-shouldn't be any hotter than other med areas.Less hot than Greece or Cyprus which I have found unbearable in August.

The islands round Vancouver are very beautiful, there are lots of good museums in Vancouver itself and the flight isn't too bad if you go direct and over the pole.

I want to go to Australia (but have already booked my main holiday!)

Portugal looks lovely.

pph we used these people last year and had a reasonable villa. our late booking meant we didn't have the best choice - there are some really nice looking places on there though

Marina de Davia in Corsica is very nice. Stayed there last year. Brilliant holiday and loads to do.

Wouldn't the flight to Vancouver be almost as long as the flight to California?

Fire Island is lovely. Check out Jan's link, and you'll see the names of the towns, and descriptions of the communities. Very buggy-able, though sidewalks are not continuous from one end of the island to the other. You will have to take a water taxi in some instances to hop from place to place. Gay activity is centered in Cherry Grove - so if that's not your scene, stay away from that town. There are many lovely family towns. Happy to advise on specific towns if you are at all interested. The last time I was there, there were quite a few French families around.
