Passport Processing Time

Anyone have any idea on processing time of First Passports at the moment? We sent our daughters application via check and send almost 2 weeks ago and no idea on when to expect it back. Hopefully someone can shed some light?!

Brilliant news yummy!

The status of mine has changed as well it is now with the upgrade team and I should get a call today, tues or latest wed morning to put it through. She said they do a bit of work on it and call when literally it is ready to go through. To ring wed aft if not heard.

I'm so relieved at least it's moving along, if it had still been awaiting examination I may have cried down the phone at her!

Ringing at 8 sharp on Durham 0845 is the way forward I was on hold for less than 5 mins.

Still soooo stressed about this. Not received either passport yet even though we were contacted by Durham on Friday saying they were printed on Thursday so were in the post to us. Just sat here waiting for the postman hoping they are there so i can book our holiday. Prices going up all the time. So frustrating. Sad

Text today to say mine was being printed. How long after being printed does it seem to take for a normal application? I'm at the 5 week point currently, I'm not in a rush but I'm relieved that it hasn't just vanished.

I posted a few days ago & just wanted to update. I sent off a child's renewal & child's first passport application on 14th May, check & send. We received the renewal back last week, less than 3 weeks since they received it & I've just had another text to say the other one is being printed, exactly 3 weeks since they received it.

I hope that give some of you some hope. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

We travel on Sunday 15th June, with it being a Sunday and us collecting the lad on the 0845 number put down required date of Friday 13th on the system so which date they are actually working to I'm not sure!

I just keep saying I need it for Friday whenever I talk to them.

Ah thats similar to me but we're the 22nd. I was told to phone back tomorrow but I doubt I'll be getting a call until next week x

Firewood what office were your passports at? The inconsistency is really irritating!

I'm not sure what office they were sent to, I never thought to look & then I heard about all the hassle people were having & discovered this thread. I was really starting to stress about it but thought I'd give them 4 weeks before I contacted them, so I'm pleasantly surprised. The inconsistently is shocking.

i think they have had a massive drive this weekend to clear the backlog as mine were sent for print yesterday which was a sunday when i spoke to them on friday they still hadnt even been examined

I sent my DS's renewal a week ago through post office check and send. still not recieved a text saying they received it (like it says on the application form). Has everbody had a text confirming the PO received the application? Can't see why the post office would have delayed in sending the application though. We fly in 6 weeks and I'm getting a bit nervous about it all.

I didn't receive a text. I called 6 days after it was sent and they confirmed they received 4 days after I sent it.

Just got through to the direct number at Belfast! After half an hour of waiting! Couldn't believe it! I thought she was going to ask me why I phoned this number or how I got it but she was absolutely lovely! I told her I'm traveling on the 21st of June and she insisted I have plenty of time left and has alerted the passport team for urgent examination and it should be going under examination by Thursday or Friday the latest! So I'm going to request the premium service on Friday and get it delivered for the next day!
My MP has got back to me and said he will contact me as soon as hears something... Wish me luck guys! Keep phoning the direct number (NOT 0300, useless and a waste of time! Was expecting a callback within 48 hour and it's been 3 days) and be prepared to wait up to an hour! It's long but they do help!

Save - I sent ours off by check and send on tues afternoon and had a text to say it was received on Friday morning. No idea which office but the post office lady said usually Liverpool for our area.

save i got a txt but i do think they are hit and miss with them to be fair just give the 0300 number a call and they will at least tell you if they have it x

I didn't ever get texted either save and my applications were received 4 days after i gave over to post office (was the weekend and a bank holiday).

I was on the phone again ringing Durham office I spoke to a very helpful lady she told me our Bulgarian passport was send on Wednesday evening so it should be with us any time now if not I have to ring them back this Wednesday so they can track it down for me

My MP has got back to me. He said it should be here by Monday if everything is correct! I'm going to phone them everyday for a progress report until it comes! To those who are panicking, phone DIRECT to the passport office - not the 0300 number! Waste of time! Contact your MP immediately! Call the 0845 number everyday and see what they can do; don't make yourself forgotten! I believe if I didn't phone them or contact my MP, my passport wouldn't have even been examined! Good luck everyone! And wish me luck for it coming back before next Saturday Smile
