For those whose DC have submitted their UCAS application without having yet taken the A-level (or equivalent) exams…

How are your DC getting on with hearing back from the universities?

My son has just got an offer for one of his three Bath engineering courses 😬 was not expecting so soon. I feel a bit sick now haha.

Yay! ...and relax ❤️

Has anyone received Maths offers from Imperial, St Andrews or Durham yet? Warwick came through 2 weeks ago, which was a nice surprise for dc. Good luck everyone!

No, nothing here. Please can I ask is Warwick just Maths as my DC is keen and has heard nothing. He sat the TMUA in October and did well. Thanks 🙂

Yes, this is the northern areas I mean 😂. Ds has applied to Manchester, Newcastle, Lancaster, Liverpool. He wants to go Manchester.

What is he applying for? I must say we loved Manchester when we went for the open day in October. DD is holding 2 offers for slightly different language courses there, and it’s looking likely one of them will be her firm choice (though Edinburgh is another top contender).

BoxFoxes · 06/12/2025 10:31

Dd has got offers for Sheffield, Newcastle, Notts and Lancaster. Just Bath to hear from but Notts is her favourite so she is very happy. AAAs but Last year they went a lot lower in clearing so it gives her a bit of breathing space

EducatingRosemary · 06/12/2025 13:33

Is there a way to see what went into clearing last year and at what grades?

Geography. I discussed putting Durham as one of the choices ( and he'd also meet contextual) but he said absolutely not. His mind is made up re: Manchester being the place he wants to be. He does have an offer so 🤞. Well done your DD for the offers so far.

Yes just Maths at Warwick. It seems to be dripping through as one of his friends received an offer from Warwick a few days later while others are still waiting.

Well done to your son and his friend. My DC really loved Warwick after his visit and the Maths course too. He popped it on his UCAS application once he’d got his TMUA score so 🤞 for an offer soon. Originally they said they make offers after the second TMUA sitting but clearly this is not the case.

I know there was Maths at Durham as a friend’s DC got a place there.
Also Maths at Bristol, Manchester, Cardiff and maybe Exeter. Physics and lots of engineering available too.
All available from early clearing, June.

MiseryIn · 07/12/2025 12:34

DC has law offers for Birmingham Leicester Surrey and Reading. But still waiting for Warwick. I’m not sure if they have sent any UK offers out for Law yet. Know of others waiting for Warwick too with predicted grades that far exceed requirements so remaining hopeful.
They prefer Birmingham but worried that it’s a party uni and DC doesn’t really like clubbing (quite sociable though just prefers pubs and gigs etc and doesn’t really drink much)

Brightvoyager · 07/12/2025 21:12

Joining the thread. Ds got offers from Newcastle and Leeds without a week of applying but now waiting on Durham (which he wants), Edinburgh and St Andrews (not bothered about these two).

AuntyBulgaria · 07/12/2025 21:51

@Brightvoyager which subject? My DS is waiting for Durham as well (Economics and Maths).

steppemum · 07/12/2025 21:55

DD just got her first 2 offers.
She only handed in her form to school last week, but it seems as if they had the references etc all filled in and ready to go and so it went straight off.

So she wants to read chemistry. Got an offer of ABB from Leeds
and an offer of BCC from Sussex. This is actually her favourite, and that is a lowere offer than they advertise, so she is delighted.
(predicted BBB)

Muchtoomuchtodo · 09/12/2025 21:02

I think I posted this in the wrong thread earlier so sorry if you see it twice!

Bath offer came in today for DS, well 2 different ones for maths and stats with a professional placement / year abroad.

Either A⭐️ A A or A⭐️ A⭐️ B. The A⭐️ and A have to be in maths and FM, and the third grade can be either his 3rd A level or Welsh Bacc.

We weren’t expecting to hear for a while so he’s chuffed. They’ve followed it up with an email with the 26/27 and 27/28 fees and said that fees could continue to rise in line with inflation which is quite sobering and really made DS think. He’s not going to settle for anything other than somewhere that he’s very happy with.

nutella8 · 09/12/2025 21:25

Maths offer from Durham, St Andrews, Warwick received, DS very happy. Just Imperial left now.

steppemum · 10/12/2025 10:29

dd has 3rd offer from Swansea, BBB, which she is thrilled about, as it is lower than she was expecting.
So she's pretty happy so far.

We've just had maths through from Durham as well. DC is delighted as it's their first choice and had expected to be waiting until well after Christmas. Just needs to get on and get the grades now...

Llangewydd57 · 10/12/2025 11:32

Well done on all your DC’s great offers 😀. Still no offers for my DC. They are getting a bit fed up now with so many offers coming in for their friends. 🤞they get one before Christmas.

My DC also got Durham Maths last night.... very happy after the car crash Cambridge interview. Still awaiting St Andrews and Imperial.
Have you visited Durham? What's the vibe?

MoreMaths · 10/12/2025 12:05

@Satsuma55 We went to the Open Day and loved it. Small city and felt very friendly with plenty of sport at lots of different levels which is important for DC. Liked the different colleges and the fact that everything seems walkable as long as you don't mind a hill or two!

Was impressed with the maths talk and they were very honest about their entry requirements and the demands of the course. Very aware that we potentially have the chaos/uncertainty of college allocation but everyone we talked to said that their college was the best even if it hadn't been their first choice. We'll cross that bridge if/when we get to it.

ButtonMushrooms · 10/12/2025 16:08

My older DC is studying maths and physics at Durham and absolutely loves it there. He got his second choice college and has been involved in lots of college sport and music.
