For those whose DC have submitted their UCAS application without having yet taken the A-level (or equivalent) exams…

How are your DC getting on with hearing back from the universities?

Hi lovely parents, I've been lurking on this thread but haven't actively participated yet, nice to meet you all and well done on the various offers so far! 😀 DD received just received the last decision, with mixed successes. Offers from Baths, and UCL in Mech Eng, and Bristol back up in Eng maths. A 'No' from Camb, no real surprise there. And she just received a rejection from Imperial, after a really positive interview including super encouraging comments from the teacher .. will be a bit of a hard news to swallow. A more neutral tone would have been appreciated, considering the outcome.
We'll have a look at UCL students accommodations, to focus on the positive! What a roller coaster year.

Finally an offer from Edinburgh! Spanish and Politics!

Great news @iwonttaketheeasyroad. Where are the choices between? Has your dc got any more OHDs planned to help with the decision making?

Thank you ! It’s a relief . Offer holder day in April for York . Then choice between Birmingham , York and Bristol . All very different! Birmingham currently leading because of their sporting teams and facilities and just really liked the campus .

Brilliant news. Is it DC’s first choice?

@EducatingRosemary Enjoy the OHD - is it at the weekend or during the week? I can’t quite understand the midweek ones, given they are so close to exams now!

DS’s was last week - but the campus was full and DH said it was great to see it in action, rather than in the summer holidays. It’s impressive when in full swing.

It’s tomorrow so midweek. The last couple we’ve done have been Saturdays. Glad it’s the last one. About to break up for Easter on Friday so after this one revision needs to be the priority!

Ooh - you look to have decent weather to check out the campus while they are on the tour (unless parents can do this one? My DH wasn’t allowed on the interview visit day 😬). They really pull out the stops and the accommodation session was useful as we put in our application at the weekend.

And yes, it’s revision hereafter! seven weeks until it all kicks off!! eek.

For anyone still waiting for St Andrews, DD has just got an offer for Chemistry with French. She will firm with St Andrews and insure with York. She’d almost given up, she is beyond excited.

Excellent news
St Andrews is the last one we're waiting for.

Well done to your DC.
We are just waiting on LSE.

girlfromthesouthcountry · 26/03/2026 17:26

Rejection from St Andrews today. DS is a bit sad, but loved Durham too so will firm that. Just needs to decide on insurance now!

Durham is fab 🙂. Wish my DC had applied there.

Hi there, I’m totally new to this so hello everyone. My DS is still waiting for maths offer/rejection from Warwick. Is anyone else still waiting??

Muchtoomuchtodo · 27/03/2026 16:09

Hi @Keenwalker
my DS applied for MORSE at Warwick and has received an offer. It’s LSE that he’s still waiting to hear from (financial mathematics).
where else has your DS applied to?

mumonthehill · 27/03/2026 16:57

ds has accepted Reading today and decided not to hold out for Durham. I am really pleased as he will be only 4 hours from us and 2 from his older brother. Feels good to have a plan in place. Good luck to those still waiting for offers.

Keenwalker · 27/03/2026 17:03

Hi @Muchtoomuchtodo he’s received offers from Bristol and Sheffield. Got rejection from Imperial yesterday and still waiting for Warwick and UCL. Warwick would be his first choice followed by Bristol. But the waiting is painful

maturemummy · 27/03/2026 19:51

Yes, so is my son. All other offers are in but Warwick are taking their time. I believe his TMUA results were average & assume they are slowly working their way down the candidates as they receive rejections from offer holders. We just have to try & wait patiently 🤞

No accommodation open to view and the campus tour was only brief - just to point out the exterior of key buildings (although the students did say many of the buildings were public access so we could have gone back to go in). Tour was scheduled right at the end of the day though so that wasn’t really practical. It was also far too noisy by the road to hear what the student was saying unless you were the one person right at the front!

It was certainly a day (well, half day) just for that one course. The whole thing in one building (one which the available staff and students were unfamiliar with). It wouldn’t have been sufficient if you’d not been to an open day previously. That said the course specific information was helpful.

But we’ve done all the OHDs now so YP can submit firm and insurance when they are ready. They are glad to have made their decision re choices but know not to rush to submit too early just in case!

My DC has heard from all 5 now. So they've firmed Imperial and insured Warwick. I'm glad that pròcess is over. Just hope he can cŕack on ànd get the grades.

Mine is still swaying between Imperial and Warwick. Waiting for Imperial’s OHD in April until they make their final decision. Will reject UCL and haven’t heard anything from LSE. Financially, Warwick makes much more sense for us.

BoxFoxes · 28/03/2026 09:35

Dd has confirmed her choices. It’s all becoming very real! She can apply for accommodation from next week and also now looking at finance. Which I understand we can now apply for.

Llangewydd57 · 28/03/2026 10:30

@BoxFoxes where has your DC confirmed?

Hello, I know from experience last year that Warwick and also UCL offer/reject into the first week in May. They offer more as students reject them and so believe start looking at those with lower TMUA scores. My DC’s friends got 4.5 and 4.2 last year and got offers in May.

I don't know how it works, but do they look at how many firm/reject to make more offers?

Yes, very expensive. Imperial do have a good bursary though.
