Drama school auditions 2026 entry- Acting/MT

Annual thread for those with dc about to embark on the rollercoaster of audition season. This is my second time round as my ds did it a couple of years ago. These threads are always really supportive and full of great advice as it’s often hard to explain to others how tough and competitive this process is. Good luck everyone!!

Do let us know if the email prompts any action please? My DD did email RCS a while back and didn’t get any reply.

DontStopBeleafing · 01/04/2026 18:05

Does anyone know why some recalls for Mountview foundation (after BA application rejection) were online quite quickly and others are in person but not until May?

Operagirl1 · 01/04/2026 18:27

Just out of interest, has anyone on here ever heard of anyone who got a place at Emil Dale and didn't get an interview? They hand out a sheet at the end after they have kept only a handful back for interview, stating it doesn't affect your outcome if you aren't given an interview???? I find that hard to believe!!!

Did your DD get the blanket email that RCS sent last week to those still waiting from First Round just to say they had more applications than normal and things are still being considered? My DD had actually emailed them last Monday and it was the exact same response as that email, then the blanket one came out 2 days later I think it was.

She didn’t mention it and I think she would have. She’s away for day or two, so when she’s back I’ll try and sit down with her and encourage her to send a few emails. I don’t think she’s heard anything from Manchester either and that audition was back in February too.

JustDramaMumThings · 01/04/2026 19:45

It's been a weird week for my DD so far this week. Unfortunately she was rejected on Monday from Rose Bruford BA Acting after final round but was offered Screen & Devised. She's not taking it unfortunately as it's just not quite what she wants. Then later that day she was rejected after second round LAMDA :( A devastating day on Monday to say the least. However she has picked herself back up and had her Royal Welsh BA Acting second round this morning which she loved, she would love to go there so keeping everything crossed she gets through to final round. So just Royal Welsh and potentially RCS left now, RCS first round was over 8 weeks ago, not sure how the outcome will go as it's being dragged out. Hoping at least one of the two turns into an offer

DontStopBeleafing · 01/04/2026 19:47

And can anyone advise how long the wait is after audition / interview for offer / reject from Emil Dale (and whether this varies by degree / foundation)?

MimiGC · 01/04/2026 19:48

@McmumagerOP, this thread is going to reach capacity soon (if 1000 posts is still the limit). Do you know if it can be extended or will it automatically roll over somehow? Sorry I don’t know the technicalities- I don’t often start posts and when I’d do they rarely attract much attention 😁

Oh I don’t know either. I think when the NYMT one got to capacity someone just started a new one and added a link. Shows how much support and advice we’ve all had💕

Sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed for Wales and Scotland.

My dd had audition on the sat a few months ago. Friends who were there and not interviewed got a no email on the Thursday. My dd got a box with degree offer on the Friday evening about 6.30pm ( we’d been stalking the postman earlier in the day so it was a lovely surprise) .

Her friend who was there the week before and was interviewed got a foundation offer letter on the Thursday.

Good luck!

Is anyone else on the group off to EDA? We are a bit nervous over the accommodation. Halls so much simpler especially in year 1.

Ah, get her to double check, I know a couple people received it as seen on other forum. My DD panicked as it was like a UCAS update email that came through but then also emails from RCS, it was really strange, so we just presumed it was sent to everyone who was still on UCAS from first round. I think it was around 19th March. It basically said "we are aware you are still waiting to hear from us, however due to the number of applications received for BA Acting this year, the selection process is taking longer than usual. Your outcome remains on hold whilst we work through the increased numbers."

It's really strange this year how many people are waiting so long. I also do know that at least one 3rd round audition day has been held so far! I'm not sure how they are splitting them up/spacing them out. Currently I know of people given week commencing 20th April for 2nd round, not sure how long they will go on for though! It's a bit mad!

ETA - I'd defo say no news is good news at this point as with both Manchester and RCS in previous years my DD just had staright rejections on UCAS, no emails or anything from them.

DontStopBeleafing · 01/04/2026 20:04

Thanks @Mcmumager - well done to your dd! Do you know if ucas updates or emails are sent too for offers - we’re away from home and have done a lot of waiting, waiting, waiting this year!!!!

Mine did apply via ucas but I don’t think it’s even updated now.

Emails are only sent for no’s so I’ll cross my fingers nothing arrives that way. The postman knocked the door as it was too big for door box - would they normally give your post to a neighbour?

Do they have other offers/auditions still to do? If offered would they be interested?

Fingers crossed no email tomorrow then! DD may well be keen - ba offer from Leeds Con, ba waitlist Trinity Laban, Mountview foundation recall in May, rejections from all others now.

My DD is at EDA at the moment. Were you worried about private rentals?

Yes just worried about trying to find a place so close to starting and finding someone to live with etc. We both like being organised so just a bit of an unknown! My son went into halls in his first year and that seemed so much simpler. Everyone says it will work out but feels like quite a gamble especially as lots of properties seem like just for 2 or 3 people.

Is your DD enjoying her time there?

Yes we were the same, it was quite a worry and we found that lots of private rentals didn't allow students. We joined Facebook groups for Letchworth, Hitchin etc and there was one specifically for properties in those towns, and that'show we found a rental in the end. You can live further afield such as Stevenage.
They are generally 2-3 bed yes. My eldest is at uni and my 2nd went to EDA for Cert HE, and it's been totally different. The training is so full on that they don't have time for social things you'd do in halls. On a weekend by the time my DD has done washing, food shop, batch cook, and maybe met up with a friend, the weekend is gone. Weekday evenings are going over dances, working on assignments etc. So just not the same living experience at all.

EDA does get quite a lot of criticism from both students and the local community for not providing more help with accommodation. (And parking!!)

I’ve joined a general Facebook group and I’ll look out for the property one. My ds is in 2nd year at drama school and similar life with the batch cooking , washing etc plus gym pre college , staying after to practice. It’s not an easy choice and very different to the standard uni life but he does love it. He’s had it easy with halls first year then great house which they are keeping till they finish. All walking distance. So this stress is all new!

Is your dd staying there or off somewhere else next year?

Oh sorry, thought you meant uni halls! So you already know the lifestyle.
DD is probably going to a city conservatoire for BA, still TBC as 1 recall and 1 audition to go, but has some offers and reserves. Best of luck finding accommodation and hope your DD has a great time!

Hello is anyone's young person on a GSA MT foundation group chat? My daughter just got in and she is part of a group chat of 6 but it would be nice to join with others going. Thanks

EclecticRajistani · 03/04/2026 14:12

Hi MimiGC,

Thanks for that similar boat so we know how it feels. Hope your DD hears something soon. Our DD has emailed them and email was passed onto admissions by admin so hopefully we hear next week 🤷‍♀️ so hard to make plans and limbo stage but appreciate this is the same for quite a few. Good luck 🙏 to all
