Annual thread for those with dc about to embark on the rollercoaster of audition season. This is my second time round as my ds did it a couple of years ago. These threads are always really supportive and full of great advice as it’s often hard to explain to others how tough and competitive this process is. Good luck everyone!!

DD had a rejection 4 weeks ago.

Ahh sorry to hear that! Was that notified via Acceptd? It has been 4 weeks since she submitted so it may just be in the pipeline for a response.

Ah OK, DD submitted just before Xmas hols at school so much earlier.

We finally heard back from Performers and she got a place

Wilkes was a no, Emil Dale went well but she didn’t get called for an interview and then it’s just Italia Conti recall left. She’s still hoping for a last minute offer from Bird but she’s so happy that she knows she has somewhere lined up!

No update as such only that Urdang self tape has been viewed again only this time for longer it’s been just over 2 weeks since submitted

Thats a good sign as shows wasnt a straight no, some of DDs friends have been viewed once for around a minute and received nos. Makes you wonder what they watch first. Everything crossed for you

thanks for the reply that’s interesting to know do you know if they were only viewed once in total or viewed once plus another view when Urdang checked the self tape on the deadline date? We had a view on the deadline date of just under a minute then another view yesterday for just under 2 mins fingers crossed for all who are awaiting outcomes our refresh button is well used at this stage haha

My daughter attends a large BTEC performing arts school and so far theres been around 20 of them go through the process. Everyone was initially viewed once within 2/3 days of submission date for around or just under a minute and quite a few were never viewed again and received a no a few weeks later. Obviously we dont know for sure but suggests that they watch a bit of it for initial screen and decide if want to see more. We know someone who was watched twice and got an offer, 3 times and a no, 3 times for recall and another 5 times then offer. Of everyone only watched once they all received nos. And were only watched that initial once. A minute is a fair bit when your experienced to decide if they are a fit or not so we understand it cant all be watched. I dont know anyone as yet whos had the full tape watched

Interesting fact, last year DD had completed a Foundation at GSA and was applying to a number of colleges along with her cohort.

MV offered nearly all (if not all, I’m not sure) of those who applied, to audition for their Foundation when they’d applied for BA. I’m not sure they even read their CVs to see they had in fact already completed one!

Thats so frustrating, I understand they have large volumes of applicants but to not even check their background?!

With the self tapes its hard because if they only watch 2 minutes of an 8 minute tape theres a very good chance that they dont see you at your best. It may well be that a different 2 minutes might have got you the yes or recall and I know thats nature of industry but these guys are applying for training not jobs and if they had a perfect 8 minute video they wouldnt need the training. Its a shame the whole thing isnt looked at CVs and full tapes but I do understand they are experienced to know what they want and are looking for and time constraints

Just heard from a friend that they had a recall email from Urdang just this morning after sending their tape in a good 3 weeks ago, so the Urdang recalls are still coming, hang in there! 😊

Coming to the end of auditions here. My dd got degree offers on the day at Performers (Essex) and MPAA, Degree at Stella Mann, Cert HE at Italia Conti, which she's turned down, wait listed at Bird (but turned this down as she wasn't keen after audition). Just TBA to go now..... then decisions to be made.

My Dd has heard of one recall and one rejection from Urdang today, both submitted 30 Jan. Fingers crossed for those waiting.

Anyone who auditioned for Bruford BA acting and has had their recall, how long did it take for them to get back to you after?

DD is delighted as she got second round RADA recall for BA Acting today. Has anyone ever done this previously or know anyone who has? They ask for a song to be sung, I think to show more acting through song rather than actual vocal talent, however just wondering what type of songs people sing, is it more MT style?

@JustDramaMumThings ahh, she's doing so well! 😍Congratulations to her already, so exciting! Still no more news here but he's deep in a Conti self tape, having reconsidered and applied, so at least he's too hassled with that to be stressed about anything else! 😆

@Reklats we can't quite believe it! Still long way to go but it's a good boost for her after 2 years of constant rejections :)

The recall was 2 parts. Those who left after stage 2 went just after lunch at about 2pm. Those kept for stage 3 left after they had done their bits so my DD came out at 4pm. She was number 8 out of 11. You don’t know if you’ll get kept back until the day.
