Interested to hear what alevels kids chose to pursue the LLB. Particularly at Russell Group universities. Dd is year 10 and was firm on medicine but has now dropped in that she may like to do law. She needs to pick alevels by February and obviously medicine related alevels would be quite different so she needs to be sure!

The fourth choice is fairly unimportant here then OP, if the assumption is that the students drop one subject after the first term in Y12. But on that basis I would try out English Lit.

My dc’s school did the start with 4 then drop to 3. The earliest could drop was October half term yr 12 which my dc did. It was designed as a backup in case disliked an A level.
They’ve got plenty of time to decide. The school may do an open evening in Autumn with info on courses.

@makemineadecafLaw requires reading though, surely? Lots of research and advising on this? Ok it’s not fiction (?) but it’s the skills gained that matter. I cannot see biology helps at all other than for pleasure. In effect she’s got 2 sciences but not subjects that are necessarily best for Law at a top uni. Where would she aim for? What do most successful applicants offer?

If looking at Cambridge’s advice, only History hits their recommendations for 2/3 to be MFLs, English lit, maths or history. I’d therefore remove one of the sciences in favour of English lit. Language isn’t well regarded. Lit and Lang is also ok. The world and his wife do psychology now!
