Thanks- your DD has fantastic results. Is that her first interview? Nice to get before the weekend. Best of luck to her.

Well done. Do you mind sharing your DC's stats? Mine has applied there but no word yet. She has ucat 2720 and just got last year's cut off- 7.236ish I think

Thank you so much. She's worked so hard I'm so proud of her. She's also applied to Bristol and 2 in London - she says no-one has heard from those yet.

maybemedmum · 22/11/2024 19:55

Congratulations on all the interviews of the last couple of days and sending strength and patience for the waiting. It's hard!!!

Newcastle just in here. We were sure she'd be in the first batch there - It's what passes for her safe choice - but we had a nasty few hours this afternoon when they'd all come out on TSR and hers hadn't arrived. Definitely relieved. First week of December so she'd better get preparing!!

I assume they never come out at the weekend and we can all stand down for a couple of days?!

OnePinkCat · 22/11/2024 20:34

Interesting Birmingham offers are out. My child’s first choice - sadly no interview news from Birmingham for us though so maybe a reject is on the way?

Do Birmingham send out offers in tranches does anyone know ?

mumsneedwine · 23/11/2024 11:15

Most Unis send them in batches, and there's often no reason why some get sent earlier. Hang on in there. Interviews coming out nice and early this year which is great.

Optimum19 · 23/11/2024 13:43

My DD isn't aware some students got interviews for B'ham, but she didn't. Just wondering if I should say anything to maybe prepare her for bad news or say nothing yet. I'm thinking the latter approach at the moment...

sproutsandparsnips · 23/11/2024 14:34

No news on Birmingham here either @OnePinkCat.

sproutsandparsnips · 23/11/2024 14:35

Sorry and @Optimum19.

OnePinkCat · 23/11/2024 15:12

Thank you everyone for the reassurances - Trying not to worry, it may not be bad news yet….
good luck all.

So sorry to have put the cat amongst the pigeons. I'm sure my DD has just been lucky to be in the first batch to hear. Fingers crossed you all get positive news in the next few days/weeks

Miloarmadillo2 · 24/11/2024 08:08

My son went to an MMI practice in London yesterday and of the 20 prospective medics he was the only one who had heard back from all four unis already. He couldn’t make his proposed QUB interview because of a clash and they have pushed him back into the January ‘batch’. Until a rejection is sent they are still very much in the running.

HGC2 · 24/11/2024 08:50

DD has 2 interviews this week, she plans on wearing black trousers, a blazer and a thin turtleneck jumper, that sound ok?

The pink cat? Interesting name.

Optimum19 · 24/11/2024 10:16

Four interviews already is fantastic. Well done to him. We're pleased enough with one here.
Maybe there's good news coming this week especially for those who haven't heard anything yet

Just to say that when my son went through this (years ago now), we were waiting and waiting and waiting (in his case for Liverpool) even though his score was way above many who were getting interviews, and eventually we worked out they were sending them in alphabetical order - so having a name right at the end of the alphabet he was in the last batch and didn't interview until February with all the other people invited for interview who had names at the end of the alphabet! Some places (Bristol for example) clearly invite in batches by UCAT score, others seem even more random than alphabetical, but it might just be due to what surname your DC carry.

mumsneedwine · 24/11/2024 11:29

Bristol is random. It depends on the order the admissions team enter their name in the spreadsheet 😂.
Often there is no logic to who gets what when. No news is definitely good news at this stage. Until you're rejected you're still in the game.

CopingHagen · 24/11/2024 12:28

Bristol haven't started issuing invites for this year yet though, have they?

mumsneedwine · 24/11/2024 12:36

@CopingHagen no ! Most Unis haven't started yet.

maybemedmum · 24/11/2024 12:45

Exciting that interviews are starting @HGC2. Are they online or in person?
We were chatting about interview outfits this morning - thinking work experience clothes here (i.e. black trousers and a smart top/jumper), so sounds like we are on fairly similar lines. DD generally not keen to 'dress up'!
DD also bemoaning the fact that lots of her peers have offers flooding in now as more people submit their applications. It's definitely adding to the pressure of what's already a tough year.
Sit tight, everyone - no news is good news (but crossing everything for more good news next week).

Thanks! Didn't think so, but mildly panicked when I saw mention and wanted to check if not missed something 🤣

Glasgow is online but the rest are in person. Not sure which is best really!

Can't remember which, but in ds's year one at least one uni was sending out interviews by UCAS registration number.
It's such early days. Uni's cant cope with the admin of sending out all their invitations in one go as websites crash with everyone trying to book slots at the same time or the poor admin teams get inundated with panicky phone calls from applicants wanting to know if they can swap days due to clashes.
Ds's Bristol interview was at the end of the whole cycle. His eventual offer came too late even to go to the offer holder day but that's where he ended up.
A later interview makes no difference to your chances. Hold tight.

Optimum19 · 24/11/2024 16:27

Thanks for all your reassuring messages. Suppose it's still very early days.

SoTiredNeedHoliday · 25/11/2024 07:47

Yes its hard waiting but still early days for sure. Of my DD only 3 of her year group have heard anything yet for med
