Hi guys.

I haven't got one of my own applying this year but can see applications for my school.

Bath offers are beginning to trickle in. Most are still waiting for Leeds.

My school for some reasons got early Durham offers. Some Bristol offers . That one's very unpredictable. Two applied for same course with very similar profiles and one got offer ages ago and another still waiting.

MFL being very slow.

Calmmumnot · 23/02/2024 09:20

DC waiting on Durham and UCL for International Relations politics, anyone heard? Thanks

MerchSwyddEfrog · 23/02/2024 09:37

We are waiting for Durham and UCL too but for Natural Sciences @Calmmumnot. Been waiting since October and starting to worry now. My ds has achieved grades.

Calmmumnot · 23/02/2024 09:39

@MerchSwyddEfrog keeping fingers crossed we hear soon!!

legosnowqueen · 23/02/2024 12:52

Also waiting for Durham...Business & Management.

Innisfree · 23/02/2024 12:55

Also waiting for Classics at Durham, as well as St Andrews, like many others 🤣 Patience is a virtue, so I’m told.

shearwater2 · 23/02/2024 15:25

DD1 has decided to not accept Sheffield unconditional yet until she has heard from Newcastle and Edinburgh.

🎵And I'm still waiting...🎵

TenSheds · 23/02/2024 17:19

For goodness' sake Edinburgh get your act together! It's the only one we're waiting for. A friend of DD had an offer today, so DD has checked, and she does have an email from Edinburgh, "Student life at Edinburgh!" That's at least three now that conspicuously do not say you do/don't have an offer! Why??!!!

Hang in there. Edinburgh didn't respond until the first week of May last year for my DS.

PumpkinKnitter · 23/02/2024 20:05

@TenSheds My DD had an email from Edinburgh before Christmas saying they hoped to get decisions out in March, but it could be as late as May. That is for a biomedical sciences course. Keeping all fingers and toes crossed!

TenSheds · 23/02/2024 21:38

Offer holder day is in April, so hoping will hear before then.

PumpkinKnitter · 24/02/2024 10:35

I hope so! DD went to the open day and felt she saw and heard everything she needed then, so isn't going to go up there again for the offer holder day. However, it would be really helpful to have heard from Edinburgh by the time she goes to offer holder days at Exeter and Bristol, so that she knows whether she is looking for firm or insurance.

TenSheds · 24/02/2024 13:41

We did the open day at the start of Y12 so DD feels she would benefit from another, more informed visit. We shall have to see.

BiancaBlank · 24/02/2024 14:53

Edinburgh is our last one too, but as their typical standard offer is higher than the offers she already has (even Oxford), DD is unlikely to consider it in any case. Last year a girl from their school was even given an offer higher than the standard one, which is just cheeky!

Cx5 · 24/02/2024 15:27

My two were offered AAA from Edinburgh and their website only says A*AA it's a shame it could have been a good insurance at the lower grades.

Revengeofthepangolins · 24/02/2024 17:05

Edinburgh is the only place I have heard of doing this (except Imperial and Cambridge who always have and who flag their tarrifs and "typical" and state that they might ask for more). Only started in the last few years afaik

PumpkinKnitter · 24/02/2024 17:12

Yes, it is a bit naughty that they don’t mention it on the course descriptions. The standard offer for DD’s course is listed as AAB but at the open day they said it is usually very oversubscribed and AAB is highly unlikely to be enough to get in. Our guess is if she gets an offer it will be AAA or AstarAA. Fortunately that is still below her predicted grades and she has good ABB offers as backup. Edinburgh is the one she really wants though!

Revengeofthepangolins · 24/02/2024 17:46

Quite a few unis in practice want to offer to those they think will achieve more than the standard tariff, but setting the offer condition higher without flagging that might happen upfront on the admissions page I think is unfair to students who are trying to make a sensible range of choices across their 5 slots

Comefromaway · 24/02/2024 17:58

We are on the train home after going to Man Met offer holder day.
really impressed with everything but dd feels that LJMU suits her & her career aspirations more so she has accepted it on ucas.

Cx5 · 24/02/2024 18:58

Can't see how to edit my post it should say their offers are 2 A stars and 1 A

Mytholmroyd · 24/02/2024 20:23

Ah@Cx5 that makes sense now! If you put a * either side of text it makes it bold!

Cx5 · 24/02/2024 20:58

@Mytholmroyd I didn't realise 😂

Mytholmroyd · 24/02/2024 21:16

Old formatting trick!

PumpkinKnitter · 25/02/2024 01:52

@Comefromaway Lovely that she has the decision made and can look forward to starting her course.

TheOnlyMrsW · 25/02/2024 12:12

@Comefromaway lovely that decisions have been made, after 3 offer holder days DD is none the wiser and so overwhelmed that isn't even thinking about it now!!! The last one isn't until the end of April which is annoying but hopefully some time to clear her head will help........
