She still wants to go to the offer holder day at LJMU so she can use it as a chance to visit the other campus and accommodation to work out where will be best both in terms of lectures, using the sports facilities, part time work, parking & socially.

Latest insight from espionage corner ... saw my first Leeds offer today. Art.

daffodilandtulip · 27/02/2024 23:00

It's taken me until now to realise there's a new thread!

We went to the applicant day at Loughborough on Saturday and have received an offer tonight ... but the day put her off, when it was one of her favourites before!

We've also done the offer day at Nottingham and have the Leeds one next month.

Durham and Lancaster offered but haven't made it to DDs shortlist ... decision time soon!

g1c2d3 · 28/02/2024 08:28

Anyone heard from Leeds, especially for Finance? It is the only one of DS’s five yet to offer and a favourite but we are coming to March now and with offer holder days already in full swing from the other four, I am getting a bit concerned. He is unable to decide until he knows the situation with Leeds, despite several great offers from the others.

Tortiemiaw · 28/02/2024 09:28

DD finally heard back from Bristol yesterday. She was rejected which she's absolutely fine about as has her heart set on York! I turned into fuming mother and wanted to demand WHY they had rejected my little flower, even though she didn't care in the slightest!! 😅

listsandbudgets · 28/02/2024 09:31

We went to Liverpool on Saturday. She liked the course and the staff, was delighted with the facilities BUT wasn't sure about the campus itself or the fact that the main halls of residence were at least a 20 minute bus ride from the university.

She'd narrowed down to Liverpool or Nottingham with Sussex as insurance. We're off ot NOttingham on Saturday so fingers crossed she falls in love with it.

Umbilicate · 28/02/2024 11:03

I've heard of offers for architecture from Edinburgh coming through this week

WombatChocolate · 28/02/2024 11:38

Sorry to hear about the rejection.
I wonder if so far there haven’t been lots of rejections, just offers and people on hold (unless their grades are below the standard offer) but I suppose as time passes and we get into March, decisions have to be made and more rejections will start to appear. Wishing everyone all the best, especially when their favourite choice is the one that is still not in yet.

Oh she's fine. She didn't really want to go, but thought she needed to put an extra one!

Headingto18 · 01/03/2024 14:08

Anybody else’s DC getting really tired of waiting? Most friends have all their offers/rejections, and as an early applicant DC has been waiting 5months. It is what it is of course but def is tainting her enthusiasm for those univs who may never reply or be right to the wire.

legobrickseverywhere · 01/03/2024 14:24

Headingto18 def fed up of waiting. Seems like it just drags on. Waiting for three responses. Have a great offer from Durham, but would be good if he had a few more to choose from too. And finalise his choices.
Which universities are you waiting on?

Yes it’s really getting to my DS who is waiting for 4 offers for computer science. Applied in November.

The school marked their PPE’s really harshly and was today told he got one A star and two Cs. He’s never got a C before and is distraught. He now thinks he’s not good enough what with those results and only 1 uni offer. I tried to explain that the school WILL mark harshly for these as they don’t want them slacking off on this final push but it’s hard. Can’t wait for this whole process to be over. I can see DS taking a gap year as I’m not sure he’s mentally ready this year.

TabMcTat · 01/03/2024 16:34

Leeds offer came through for DC today, and also for two others in their class. That’s our fifth and final offer.

is there any point putting an insurance if all offers are the same? Every offer DC has is AAB.

Like @JediKnightingale we just had low mock scores so there are a lot of wobbles and much panic over here. God I hate our system, it’s designed fed to be as high stress as humanly possible at a very delicate point in mental development.

Headingto18 · 01/03/2024 16:50

Waiting on Edin and Durham plus a course change request at one of her offers; a possible 2 1/2months more of this ….

lifeturnsonadime · 01/03/2024 17:37

I would say yes if there is more than one that DC would like to go to.

It might be that one of them would accept if a grade is missed if the other one won't?

Mytholmroyd · 01/03/2024 18:36

Yes agree with that @lifeturnsonadime - keep the option open because some universities/courses may accept a student even if they have missed a grade

Yes, very much so. Ds is really stressed as his first choice still isn't in, and he didn't apply until early January, so early applicants must be even more fed up.

TheOnlyMrsW · 02/03/2024 08:56

@Tortiemiaw that really made me laugh about your little flower!!! Low mock results here and real worry that they won't actually finish the content before exams start have left DD with a massive confidence problem - she's starting to talk about not even making her insurance which is 2 grades below the others and a lot lower than predicted. I wish she could just make a decision but still has one more offer holder day which isn't until next month 😭. Possibly a bit unpopular opinion but I almost wish she didn't have as much choice!!! Apologies to those who are waiting still if that sounds insensitive.........and hope that things start to move for your DC's

Lightsabre · 02/03/2024 10:09

Sorry to hear that some people are still waiting for the majority of offers. It's a bit disheartening, especially if you applied early.

Ds is still waiting for one (his favourite now). Offers and rejections for this particular course are trickling through but looking at last years student room, the decisions are made in the last week of March. Hoping we will be done and dusted then and can start working out budgets/student finances/accommodation.

No serious revision is taking place yet but there seem to be a lot of topic tests so hopefully that's keeping information fresh in ds's mind. Still no idea what his provisional exam timetable will look like. I'll probably end up looking it up myself.

speedyhedgehog · 02/03/2024 10:19

Of my three, one had all five offers within a month, one has three, still waiting for two but he was the latest to get the form in in late January. Dd early entrant but for medicine has had four interviews, one offer, still waiting to hear from the other three, plus nothing from her non medical choice. I wish the decisions had to come by end of April before their exams start, hopefully most of them will for most of our dc.

mondaytosunday · 02/03/2024 11:52

Finally got Durham offer day booked and managed to book a room at St Chads. It's en suite so imagine it's not normally a student room but they will be on Easter break so who knows? Do they vacate like at Oxbridge? Now looking for recommendations where to stay in Glasgow for the offer day following week.
DD hasn't had offers yet but just found out that Bath and LSE offer holder days are on the same day! Argh! We haven't been to either but we live in London so I said sensible to go to Bath and book an individual tour to LSE. She's cooling on Bath for some reason, but says she'll 'go with the vibe'.

Calmmumnot · 02/03/2024 12:40

Congrats @mondaytosunday ! Which course did the offer come for today? Thanks

HannahDefoesTrenchcoat · 02/03/2024 12:51

@speedyhedgehog kudos to you for having 3 in UCAS if I understood correctly.

DS is likely to be in this position if he does get a contextual offer from his favourite, as he already has 2 offers that are the same from others. He was told that (and based on experience from DDs friends from last year) yes, it does make sense as long as the insurance is one that is often a little more lenient if you drop slightly. So his firm, in this situation, would be Bristol, with backup of possibly either Loughborough or Nottingham. Probably ;-)

Definitely depends on subject/uni too in terms of popularity/oversubscription.

eg Economics is going to be very different to Arabic Studies.
