Drama school auditions 2024- Acting/MT

Is anyone starting the journey of drama school auditions and starting to feel the stress? Maybe sending them to drama group was a big mistake lol.

He’s doing an Extended diploma in Performing Arts (equivalent to three a levels) but yes, still at college! It’s a lot!

He’s not applied to BOVTS - he didn’t like the vibe there! He wants a degree course (in case he goes into teaching later - his back up plan) so OSD is no good unfortunately.

i am as excited as she is ☺️🥳

My DD is currently in her 2nd year and having a great time @Newgirls - it is very close to Leeds University and Leeds Beckett - lots and lots of students around.

Thank you! Do they mix with the other students do you think? I guess the opportunity is there if they want to - great city

Am not sure she does as between those on her course and those she met in halls last year/sharing with now she has met lots of new friends and people to make music with! She is very busy - the contact hours are high

DS went to an Open Day at Leeds Conservatoire. It didn't feel too small. We were very impressed by the course leader.

my ds got it last week, thought the pressure was off as it’s one of his favourites but he still isn’t sure (we have accepted it though)

My DD is auditioning for MT drama school this year and it's certainly a rollercoaster! Two rejections so far, including GSA after recall, more auditions lined up. She's waiting to hear back from Mountview 1st round in January. Has anyone in the same boat had any news?

@MTrollercoaster my dc hasn’t been for the mountview audition yet but the info says if you audition after December you will find out by 18 March so potentially a bit longer to wait- sorry! Wishing her (and you) luck. It’s definitely not an easy process!

My DD is auditioning for LIPA's new MT course in March. It was a late decision to apply, so we didn't go to an open day. Would be interested to hear people's impressions, after visits or auditions. I saw it was set up by a former GSA staff member and it's got a similarly small intake. Any thoughts?

@MTrollercoaster i know someone on the first year of the new lipa course and she is absolutely loving it. Dc has an audition there this week so I can update after that.

My DD has been wait-listed by Italia Conti for the MT degree and I'm wondering if anyone knows how that works. Does the movement on that come after the UCAS deadline for firming up your choices? Would appreciate any thoughts!

If it's like a reserve list, then yes, there will be movement when the people who have had offers accept them or not. My daughter was on a reserve list that didn't become an offer, but is studying now with a girl who got on the course via a reserve list.
